Dual ARC giveaway.

In addition to the much-vaunted (and very pretty) Ashes of Honor ARCs, I currently have ARCs for two, yes two different Subterranean Press books. One, A Fantasy Medley 2, contains the first-ever Tybalt-centric novella, "Rat-Catcher," which explains how he first came to be a King of Cats, the origins of his name, and why, when pressed, he sometimes introduces himself to humans as "Rand Stratford." The other, When Will You Rise?, is a collection of two Mira Grant short pieces that have not previously been published in physical form. Both will be coming out this fall, as gorgeous, limited edition volumes.

Understandably, these are even more limited than normal ARCs. But they're worth the read (and the finished books...hoo, nelly). So what's a girl to do?

Give some stuff away, naturally. Specifically, one copy of each Subterranean Press ARC.

This particular giveaway is open to US residents or to non-US residents who feel like paying postage. I'm very sorry about the restriction, there, but I'm in the middle of convention season, and I don't have the spare dollars right now. To enter...

1. Comment with which book you'd like to win, and why.
2. Give your best plea to the Random Number Generator.
3. If you're a non-US resident, indicate both this and your willingness to pay postage.

I will use the RNG to choose three potential winners for each book, and then choose the plea I like best. Yes, that makes it a little arbitrary, but only a little. Winners will be selected on Wednesday, August 8th, at noon PST. The usual twenty-four hour window will then apply.

Game on!

ETA: Guys, don't tell me why you want to win/why you should win; tell the RNG why you, above all others, are the predestined owner of the book. I want you to bribe the random number generator like a corrupt politician. Have fun! Don't just tell me "because I want it." If you didn't, you wouldn't be here!

I would like A Fantasy Medley 2, and I live i the US.

As for the Random Number Generator: remember all that time I spent with you last week, RNG, in your awk form, trying to work out what a seed was and how to actually get random numbers that were different each time? Don't you think you owe me one after that mess?
Oh great and powerful random number generator, this humble and unworthy resident of the USA would rejoice if she were able to acquire Fantasy Medley 2. It looks beautiful but this unworthy reader finds it a bit out of her price range, as she has two cats to feed, and they will mug her if she does not provide things upon which to nom.
Oh most glorious and puissant Random Number Generator,

I have delved through dark abysses where no holy light may shine. I have purified my neighbor's pet chimpanzee through sinister and unnatural rites. I have bested a tribe of albino she-slugs in feats of guile and sanctimonious rage.

I have even used the word "puissant" in a sentence, to the great chagrin of both my cohorts and my minions.

As a reward for my faithfulness, I beg a simple boon: an ARC of A Fantasy Medley 2.
I live in the U.S. and I would love a copy of A Fantasy Medley 2! RNG, I would have tried to bribe you with numeroligically significant numbers but as I see that that has already been done, I fear that I must content myself with merely sharing that in the large numbers of books that I have read, Tybalt still features in my top five list of literary crushes (over Mr.Darcy even) and I always want to see more of him than I already do in every Toby Daye book so it would be magnificent to read a story entirely dedicated to him. Also, I am a poor recent college graduate who has begun to pay off student loans as well and have not the money to buy what I am sure is a wonderful anthology when I only truly desire to read one story. Please, be merciful to my plea, RNG.
I would like a copy of A Fantasy Medley 2 because I guess you could say I'm as curious as a cat about Tybalt. I'm in the US.

Oh RNG I have sacrificed unto you the seating arrangement of my new classroom and the group assignments as well. I have subjected myself to the moans and groans of my students in response to my use of assigned seating, but only for your greater glory RNG. I hope that you enjoy the disappointment and annoyance of nearly 200 students each quarter of every year I am a teacher. RNG I ask that you please reward me for my devotion with an ARC of A Fantasy Medley 2.
1. A hard decision, but I'll say 'A Fantasy Medley 2' since I already know how amazing you are and I'd love to sample others I probably should have read already. Also, now I've just pre-ordered 'When Will You Rise?', so there's that decision done.
2. I review books for 'Shades of Sentience', so in addition to making me book squee, it's advertising :D Also, RNG, have I told you how intelligent and witty you are?
3. I'm non-US and happy to pay for postage and handling.
I want to win the ARC of A Fantasy Medley 2 because I desperately want to learn more about Tybalt, who is awesome. I'm in the US. Dear random number generator, while many people choose 17 if asked to pick a random number, I remain convinced that 79 is more random than them all!* Benevolent, gracious, and all-powerful RNG, you hold the happiness of many in your code. Let your light randomly shine on me, and I will sing your praises far and near.**

*And if it turns out that someone has slipped another comment in before I post, well then, surely the number I end up as is even more random?
**There is a slight chance I will write a haiku. Hymns of praise are not my forte. But it will be to you, RNG, and all will know of your completely random happenstance that chose me.
Forgive me, Random Number Generator, for I have sinned in my heart. I have lusted after Tybalt in a way that would make you, RNG, blush. And it is only to you, RNG, that I will admit this, because I know you will keep my secret and won't post this somewhere anyone on the Internet can read it.

And that is why I covet - nay, lust after - an arc of A Fantasy Medley 2. Thank you.

P.S. I live in the US.
2. Give your best plea to the Random Number Generator.

*making a rattling noise* come on, Momma needs a new book...
As someone who has been owned by cats on many occasions, and who regularly wears his DaVinci cat as his religious symbol at Pantheacon, I feel compelled to ask for the Fantasy Medley collection. And not to mention that I think Tybalt is cool.

Oh generator of random numbers
Of your praises I off-tunedly sing
Let me catch you away from your slumbers
To work your magical numerical thing
In this glorious scheme I ask for little
No great and glorious gift of money
Just an easy fastball down the middle
A story that's both witty and funny
Some would dare and call you fickle
But to me you're merely cautious
They've who've sinned and in a pickle
Should see how clean the tide does wash(es)

If this refrain be within your wishes
I swear to thee, I'll do your dishes

I would love a copy of "When will you rise."

Let's face it RNG. I know you're technically only pseudorandom and probably derive your "random" numbers from a complex mathematical equation, but you totally rock it.
RNG, as the Queen of American Rats, I require inside information on the King of Cats, so that I might defeat him, or simply escape his notice. Thank you for your kind pointing of the fated numbers in my direction.
Dear RNG,

I would love to win A Fantasy Medley 2 from you because I'm collecting all Tybalt stories. I don't want to be -1 of them. Also because I have 4 cats who want to hear the tale. Get it?

Love,
Jenn
1. When Will You Rise? Because zombies are love.

2. Hear me, O Random Number Generator! I sacrifice this pepperoni and sausage pizza in your honor, the crusts scattered to the three dogs, er, four winds of fortune! Grant unto me my plea! IA! IA!
1. I would like to win the ashes of honor arcbecause ive spent the weekend at a con in san francisco with a stomach bug. I played hookie today to check out Golden Gate Park and the Tea Garden. I was very disappointed for not being transported somewhere magical when i crested the bridge.
2. RNG please look upon me with gentle kindness due to my horrific stomach grossness and mycontinuing devotion to writing that i love!
A Fantasy Medley 2!

(I'm in Oregon)

Why should this lovely lovely book be mine? Simple.

Tybalt is my husband in fae cat form.

He showed up in my life unexpectedly and irritated the heck out of me (was dating my step sister), and then proceeded to continue to do so (long after they broke up) until I was used to him, then liked him, then disappeared without warning, turning up monthes (or 2 years) later on my doorstep to rescue me, only to disappear again.

He showed up again when I needed him most.

He left behind a leather coat I wore everywhere that smelled just like him (Old Spice and mechanics grease) that was my armor when I needed it.

He looks heavenward and shakes his head every time I bounce right into the place I shouldn't be.... then follows behind and picks up the pieces.

Underneath the lazy bad boy image he cultivates is a man of honor.

Obviously I NEED to see the truth behind the bits of history he's given me!

(If THAT's not good enough reason, he's been out of work three years, my job was never meant to support us, and we have three kids, two in the first two years of high school and a 7th grader. The ONLY way I get the book at the price it's at is by winning it.)

Oh Great and Might Random Number Generator,

I beseech thee in thy mighty wisdom, in thy infinite love and caring, to please see fit to send the ARC of A Fantasy Medley 2 to me, here in Australia, the land of Flame and Poison and cute, cuddly animals, the Land that gave Seanan her Campbell Tiara, the Land that loves her so. I should be most willing to pay the postal carrier to ensure its speedy course Down Under (and to make sure dear Seanan is not out of pocket in any way). If you should deign that I am a worthy recipient of this beautiful tome, I should be forever grateful.

Respectfully, forever your servant

A Fantasy Medley 2 because I already have the ebook version of the MIra Grant stories, I really want to know more about Tybalt and I don't think I can afford to buy the book when it comes out.

So dear RNG, please please please pick me because I've been having an incredibly hard time for a while and I could really use a pick me up. Short stories do that. Especially short stories that expand worlds I'm already interested in but short stories in general. I could just really use something to be excited about.

(And I'm in the US)
Fantasy Medley 2 please. Any Tybalt info is a very good thing. I live in the US.

Please oh great Random Number Generator, pick me so that I may exult in the glory and sass that is Tybalt! In return I will shower you with cookies, sweets and as much dark chocolate as you desire.

I can arrange to have Diet Dr. Pepper and candy corn put in your room when you come to Conflikt next January, since I have influence with the hotel, in a manner of speaking... ;)

I want the Tybalt story. The Tybalt story should be mine because I live with cats, I love cats, and I write stories about cats! I have saved as word docs on hard drives in my house not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4! completed over 60,000 word stories where a cat is the protag/important character. The last is liked by a professional editor that promises RSN! to give me her edits (sigh). My muse is a arrogant black cat. My Hunnybun says I have many cat-like qualities. I expect to be a crazy cat lady in my 80s and hope to come back as a pampered housecat in my next life. My life has cats, CATS AND MORE CATS !!!1 This book should be with all my other cat books in my bookcase.

P.S. I am in the United States. :)
You want me to nominate which book? ARGHHHH. Any of them.

I'm non USA, and willing to pay postage.

Oh, bribery.
RNG, I have proof of your relationship with the Lottery number generator and I'm willing to publish it. Oh yes, I am.
1. A Fantasy Medley 2
3. I am a US resident.
2. Oh random number generator, should I win I promise to never, ever number things out of order again. Also I will dedicate my life to the furtherance of #131. Or maybe #2. Or #77. Or.....

Oh Beloved, Admired, Beautiful, Wonderful, Most Honored Random Number Generator!!!! Hear my pleas as I grovel before you, your most abject and humble servant and bequeath me When Will You Rise?! My oldest, most beloved first-born will be entering adulthood in less than 2mos and is arguably one of the top 100 most zombie-obsessed people upon the planet. He has even managed to turn me, a non-believer, into a grudging a convert after forcing me out of my love for him to read Feed. This would truly be one of the most marvelous presents I could bestow upon him but only with your great generosity in choosing me.

I humbly submit my plea and throw myself upon your magnificence.

Dear Random Number Generator:

I need A Fantasy Medley 2 to power my arc reactor which keeps me imaginative so that I can continue to write things that keep me sane. I AM IRON MAN WRITER. GIVE ME FUEL.
