Dual ARC giveaway.

In addition to the much-vaunted (and very pretty) Ashes of Honor ARCs, I currently have ARCs for two, yes two different Subterranean Press books. One, A Fantasy Medley 2, contains the first-ever Tybalt-centric novella, "Rat-Catcher," which explains how he first came to be a King of Cats, the origins of his name, and why, when pressed, he sometimes introduces himself to humans as "Rand Stratford." The other, When Will You Rise?, is a collection of two Mira Grant short pieces that have not previously been published in physical form. Both will be coming out this fall, as gorgeous, limited edition volumes.

Understandably, these are even more limited than normal ARCs. But they're worth the read (and the finished books...hoo, nelly). So what's a girl to do?

Give some stuff away, naturally. Specifically, one copy of each Subterranean Press ARC.

This particular giveaway is open to US residents or to non-US residents who feel like paying postage. I'm very sorry about the restriction, there, but I'm in the middle of convention season, and I don't have the spare dollars right now. To enter...

1. Comment with which book you'd like to win, and why.
2. Give your best plea to the Random Number Generator.
3. If you're a non-US resident, indicate both this and your willingness to pay postage.

I will use the RNG to choose three potential winners for each book, and then choose the plea I like best. Yes, that makes it a little arbitrary, but only a little. Winners will be selected on Wednesday, August 8th, at noon PST. The usual twenty-four hour window will then apply.

Game on!

ETA: Guys, don't tell me why you want to win/why you should win; tell the RNG why you, above all others, are the predestined owner of the book. I want you to bribe the random number generator like a corrupt politician. Have fun! Don't just tell me "because I want it." If you didn't, you wouldn't be here!

1. A Fantasy Medly 2, please. (AAAAAAGH TYBALT WHY ARE YOU SO GOOD TO ME.)
2. If chosen, I would like a copy of A Fantasy Medly 2. And by "chosen", I mean "I will totally shiv the elderly to get it, because they've had a good run". I am also prepared to go Dark Phoenix on your enemies and bring you their heads.

And possibly their dead sun, because hey, Dark Phoenix. Standards must be maintained.

3. I am a US resident.
Please, I'd love to have the Fantasy Reader, because Tybalt is my favorite!

Dear RNG: My husband is an astrophysicist by training and can get you some of the biggest, greatest numbers EVAR!
MKK
Fantasy Medley 2 please random number generator!
I would love an ARC of When Will You Rise?. I need it. You see, I had this vision of my future about six months from now. I was in a little coffee shop, having grilled cheese (with bacon! and tomato!) and tomato soup, and a little side salad, and a latte. I was happy, and content. And, being alone at the table, I had a book with me. Closer inspection revealed that it was in fact a copy of When Will You Rise?. Not just any copy. An advanced reader copy. It's crucial that I get my hands on an ARC of this book, for the integrity of the timeline. If I don't? Maybe I'll be in that cafe, and there will be soup and grilled cheese but without bacon. Or - maybe something much more dire.

I'd rather not chance it.
If I just happen to leave these extra random numbers laying around when I walk off with the A Fantasy Medley 2 ARC, and those numbers happen to be the access codes for that lotto machine over there, well, I'm certain she won't mind if you connect to her VPN, if you know what I mean. *waggles eyebrows* Certified virus free, of course! And if she's not to your taste, how about that server over there? He has over one petabyte of RAM. That'll surge your circuits!

US Resident, hoping to win Fantasy Medley 2 for a dear love of the Daye universe and Tybalt

As for a bribe a plea

TTTO: Mercedes Benz, by Janis Joplin

I'd like to do a song of great personal and selfish import. It goes like this -

Oh Lord, won't you send me some Tybalt and friends
My friends wield machetes, I must make amends
Read books all my lifetime, not swayed by mere trends
Oh Lord. won't you send me some Tybalt and friends

Oh Lord, won't you give me a night with that book
My cat's name is Ramesses, and he wants a look
He told me to get it, by hook or by crook
Oh Lord, won't you give me a night with that book

Oh Lord, won't you send me that new ARC
Whisper my name to the great RNG
And tell him he gets it - right after me
Oh Lord, won't you send me that new ARC

1) I wish for a copy of A Fantasy Medley 2, for to learn the Cat King's secrets would please me greatly.

2) Consider my plea, Most Random Generator of Numbers, decider of fate, coincider of paradox, and provider of successes and failures, both critical: I am one with luck sorely wyrd, rolling seven with 1d6, and flipping coins that land elbows up. Long have I missed out on your blessings. If you let this be the time your favour rests upon me, I will sacrifice, in your name, a pan-roasted probability curve. May your Odds be Ever in my favour.

3) I am Canadian and willing to pay postage!

RNG,

I love, adore, and worship you, and only you. I live for when I have the opportunity to petition you for your favor and blessings. Anything I have is yours. Anything you want, I will do whatever you want me to do to get it. Please, bestow the 'Ashes of Honor' and Mira Grant ARCs upon me, your most willing servant who is not burdened with troublesome ethics or morals. Black holes have nothing on my ability to warp time and space, and I've terrified more than a few of those silly things in running home, crying, to their mommies for protection. I'm sure you'd be able to put my powers, which are at your disposal, to excellent use. I regularly hold kittens and sad-eyed puppies hostage. Are you getting the idea, RNG? Good. So you see why you should give me the ARCs. Because I could be very useful to you in your quest for total domination of life, the universe, and everything.

Ratcatcher! I adore Tybalt. Amoral -- well, he tries, even if good keeps sneaking in -- is so much more fun than plain evil.

Random Number Generation is fun, too. Hey, RNG! 10, 100, 110, 1000, who dost thou appreciate? Care for a byte -- perhaps a slice of pi and a nice cup of e? I hope you're enjoying this book-distribution gig. I hope she's not working you too hard! By now you must need a rest ... or not.
;-)

USian here. Still glad to pay postage.
(If RNG doesn't like puns, I think we're all in trouble.)
So Random Number Generator can I call you RiNG? Thanks. Appreciate it. RiNG, here, try some o' this electricity. It's solar. My cousin makes it out in the mountains. Isn't that nice. I knew you'd like that. So RiNG, the thing is, I'd really love to have that Fantasy Anthology. Love that Tybalt guy. Could you help me out here. I would really appreciate it. Thanks RiNG, your the best.

A Fantasy Medley 2! TYBALT! 17th century London and my favorite Cat Shide? How could this possibly go wrong? *flail* Also the story by Tanya Huff looks interesting.

OH GLORIOUS RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR, HEAR MY PLEA. As we move our relationship beyond the mundane and into a level of mutual affection, know that I will be there for you as Tybalt is for Toby. And as if that wasn't enough, please consider this crate of tuna packets a gesture of my future generosity. We could have a fabulous friendship RNG, absolutely fabulous. I just need this one teeny, tiiiiny favor first.

I am a US citizen but am totally willing to pay for the shipping if you want/need me to. <3
1. I choose When Will You Rise because I already stepped up and ordered the fantasy medley.

2. O Random Number Generator, I have in my life a sufficient record of poor luck that I have become mildly conditioned to avoid randomized events whenever possible. If it is your goal to have me choose random things when I can, I must become convinced that I am not, in fact, cursed with un-luck and fundamentally wasting my time when I go for something random. Winning here would be a small step in that direction.
I require, Random Number Generator, that you pay me back for all the patience and kindness that I have granted to you in the name of "chivalry" and "honor" and "proving I have more fortitude than that guy over there; yes, THAT guy" by procuring for me one (1) copy of Fantasy Medley, wherein I can devour many lovely things (and read some of Tybalt's backstory!), because the Time Has Come.

So, Random Number Generator... No need to ensure I make you an offer you can't refuse, right? And CERTAINLY no need to mention what you were doing that one night with the Qabbala text, when really you had been going steady with the Ouija board...</p>

That's what I thought. And, of course, should you deliver (as expected), these things shall remain unspoken, and I shall continue to leave all manners of alphabetical and numerical pornographic joy at the very tippy top of your extremely laden altar. After all, only the best for the Random Number Generator.

I remain your faithful and desperate servant, phoenixsansfyr.

US resident, as well. The insanity stays Stateside (mostly) with me!
Oh Great Random Number Generator - if you pick me for a copy of "A Fantasy Medley 2" to my USA address, I promise to skip every 7th step on the way to work for the next 3 days!
Even though I have it preordered, Fantasy Medley 2!!!!! Because I am ever so curious to read Tybalt's story!! I live in Canada and am willing to pay postage. Oh RNG you should lean towards those outside of the US because we are oft times excluded and have to pay postage.
This non-US resident is willing to pay postage.

I like cats.
I'd like to win A Fantasy Medley 2 because I like being introduced to authors I haven't read yet, and because I'm still not convinced Tybalt is good enough for Toby, so I want more information.
US resident, and I'd LOVE Ashes of Honor (though in fact I'd be thrilled with any of the above).
Oooh, Mira Grant stories. Oooh.

Oh, great number generator in the sky, please hear my plea, assuming there is great number generator in the sky, and that hearing my plea will in any way increase my chances of getting this great book. On the other hand, if hearing my plea makes me less likely to get what I want, please ignore the whole thing and pretend I didn't do this in the first place, ok? Kthnxbye.
Dear RNG:

I would like a copy of A Fantasy Medley 2, because I would like to read "Ratcatcher" to my own little Tybalt.

I'm sure he'll be more impressed than that.

1. When Will I Rise? That depends on whether or not there are worms available, I suspect. Also, [insert phallocentric innuendo *here*].

2. 01000010 01100101 01100011 01100001 01110101 01110011 01100101 0100000 01001001 0100000 01110011 01100001 01101001 01100100 0100000 01110011 01101111 0100001 0101000 01100001 01101110 01100100 0100000 01001001 0100000 01110011 01110000 01100101 01100001 01101011 0100000 01111001 01101111 01110101 01110010 0100000 01101110 01100001 01110100 01101001 01110110 01100101 0100000 01101100 01100001 01101110 01100111 01110101 01100001 01100111 01100101 0101001 (http://www.binarytranslator.com/index.php)

3. US Resident
1. I'd like to win A Fantasy Medley 2. because, hey, Tybalt.
2. 123.87 - 945 * (238/3.98) and I'll polish your casing.
I want both!

Dear RNG,

I will sacrifice my skin to you if you give me a book. This means not wearing sunscrean for the rest of the summer, if only you will allow me to win just ONE of these beautiful works. Because I just might explode if I do not get to read these before they come out.

Your humble servant,
Eva
I would love When will you rise? and am in the US.

Oh please please please RNG, you know I would be perfect for it! I have been looking for something in my life. It's an ache, a hole that only Mira Grant can fill with her writing. It is like wrapping my emotions in a big, comfortable blanket. Please choose me!
Hello, Mr. RNG.

Or should I call you.... "Genny?"

Yes, I think you recall me from the One Salt Sea giveaway. Those pictures of you and Wolfram Alpha all dressed up at the Union Station Cabaret really are quite striking, aren't they? I don't think anyone expected you could pull off a pencil skirt with those heels.

The dog collar was also a nice touch.

Now, if you'd like the pictures to stay in the safe deposit box...not to mention the copy I've provided to a "friend" in a secure location...I think we'll be seeing my name come up for When Will You Rise, yes?

Yes.

Be seeing you.
