9. But I'm still up because I have to work tomorrow, and that means not allowing myself to become stuck on East Coast time.
8. I had a lovely time! I got to spend time with old friends and new ones, and unexpectedly with John Joseph Adams, who sat and read slush in the hotel lobby, like the diligent editor that he sometimes pretends to be.
7. Hugo voting closes tonight. I am trying to distract myself from thinking about this by shopping for the jewelry to wear with my Hugo dress. This is working. Sort of.
6. I'm too tired to write, so I've been processing Machete Squad edits instead. If I'm too tired to understand the sentence as it was originally written, it probably needs work.
5. The cats are ecstatic, and clingy. Like briars that purr.
4. I think I just found my Hugo necklace, and it is judging you.
3. I'm about to get off the internet and go watch TV until it's safe to go to bed, because oh, Great Pumpkin, the tired. It burns.
2. But I thought you might like to know I was alive.
1. Zombies are love.

I could not agree more... I'm about to pass my copy of Newsflesh: Blackout on to another old college friend, Kaolin Fire (oddly enough, all the way back to Berkeley, where he's moved again). Though you two have never met as far as I know, he became your successor on writing fiction installments for Edge of Propinquity! I generally pass most paperbacks on as soon as I've finished them, esp. to people who I think would like them. I know Kaolin loved the first two Newsflesh books and is waiting to get the third from me. I've also bought him The Living Dead 2 anthology, just so could read your story "Everglades" (and of course, any other of the great zombie tales in there he wished).
What I would really like to keep permanently on my shelf (I have bought repeat copies of the Newsflesh works for gifts) is hardcover versions, of course. But until that hopeful day when your backlist gets released like that, I plan to fill up my bookshelves with more signed copies. Note to self: put this on the Wishlist. I've been hoping to get out to the California Bay Area again for some time, but it hasn't happened. I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and pay for shipping from one of the bookstores you sign with.)
Hmm. Have you ever seen the Zombie LEGO Apocalypse set that was assembled at BrickFest 2008? I ran across a photo of it in the book, The Cult of Lego... The pictures are really worth a look if you A) like LEGO and B) like zombies.

And yay, Lego zombie apocalypse. That makes me very happy.
