It's official. I sold my soul at the crossroads.

Like, seriously. How else do you explain Blackout being the first of my books to make the print New York Times list (in position #15 on the Mass Market Paperbacks sub-list) and now making NPR's list of the best science fiction and fantasy of the summer?

In other news, HOLY CORN MAZES, YOU GUYS, BLACKOUT IS ON THE NPR LIST OF THE BEST SCI-FI OF THE SUMMER!!!!!!!

Ahem.

I am very, very excited, as is only natural when INCREDIBLY AWESOME THINGS of INCREDIBLE AWESOMENESS decide to happen. This is so amazing. I am so amazed. Also, there have been confirmed sightings of the Newsflesh trilogy at WalMart, and no matter what you think of WalMart, that's a lot of eyes potentially falling on (and maybe even buying) my books. Dear world: please buy my books. I have a lot of cats to feed.

NPR! NYT! OMG!

Squee.

Woo-hoo, the cream rises to the top! Yay for you - happy day, happy day!!!!! (Doing happy day dance here too!)

Rock on, Seanan - you deserve this and more!!!

D
Woo!
Congratulations! I haven't read the comments, so someone may have said something similar and my data are way out of date (early nineties) but when I worked Berkeley/Oakland bookstores the absolute best way to sell a book was to get it on npr, hands down. I may have been the only one who listened to it every day but the buyers needed to know what they were talking about because we needed it pretty much before the day was out.
NPR is amazing that way. I really hope this boosts trilogy sales overall.
You didn't need to! You are an awesome person who does awesome things!

Yay!
Yay!
Fantastic news and thoroughly deserved!
Yay. :)

Congrats!

And never fear, I'm doing all I can to help you feed your cats! :)
This is because you are wonderful and don't want them to eat me.

Congratulations! *happy dance*

New dilemma: Be mind-gibberingly ecstatic for you and your well-deserved success or be mind-gibberingly ecstatic for us and the further surety that we will get read your wonderful books for years to come.

Solution: CHEESE AND CAKE! CHEESE AND CAKE FOR AAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!
CHEESE AND CAKE!!!!!!
*does snoopy dance of joy*

And you know? Blackout may be the first of your books to make the NYT list but I would bet serious folding money it won't be the last. Now that the world is getting to know the awesomeness that is Mira Grant/Seanan McGuire, I foresee many more books hitting the NYT lists.

Deservedly so.

Normally I use either my Cat icon or a Newsflesh icon but the Kermit icon is so appropriate for what I am doing right now
It's the first to make the print, but the third to make the list.

Well there's really only one explanation. They must have read it!

Seriously, though, congratulations. Very well deserved.
Thank you!
CONGRATS!!!!

*jigs with happiness for you*

I'm not surprised about this at all - its a bloody good book!

Yay! Congrats!
I haz a happy.
Well, if you're going to sell your sould, the crossroads is the place to do it.

*coff*

However, perhaps we can attribute this to sweat and tears. Congratulations! I didn't know NPR did/was doing a list of the best summer SF but how very cool that Blackout is on it. Good news about Walmart, too. (Yes, I do have mixed feelings about them, but potential audience out weighs distate for the chain in this instance.)

It's particularly good that all of the trilogy is available for late-comers.
Agreed, although I worry about people picking up older editions of Feed, before we changed the title of book two.
Nothing you don't deserve. (And haven't deserved for a long time, IMO.) Congratulations, Seanan.
Thank you!
Smoley Hoke! You've earned it, kid.
<3
Congratulations Seanan! It's nice that people are finally recognizing your awesomeness! :-)
Long may it continue!
(the recognizing of your awesomeness that is, not the awesomeness itself, which I have no doubts will continue for as long as you are on this planet!)
Thank you!
I say, old bean, jolly well done! =:o}

OMG, Squee! I am so excited for you! OK, so how can we get some copies of the NewsFlesh books to Sarah and Vinnie at Radio Alice 97.3 (SF)? I know they like zombie books and I've e-mailed them that they should read them, because they will ENJOY THEM and because they WILL talk about them on the air if they get their hands on them. They generally talk about the books they read, and as far as I know are not sponsored by any of the publishers, LOL.
Oooo, that's a good idea. Any idea how?

Wal-Mart has a fantasy-sci-fi book that isn't romance?

I know, right?
