Open thread because I have used up all my go.

Thomas says that it's time for an open thread, because I have used up all of my erudite and coherent, and have been staring at my screen, not actually doing anything, for hours. This time would be better spent petting the cat, ergo, it needs to stop. So here is a picture of Thomas cuddling his beloved plush Perry the Platypus to get you started. Nothing starts a conversation like a Maine Coon hugging a secret animal agent.

But anyway. Open thread! Say anything! Woo! Thomas says so.

Comment amnesty is on for this post, but I will be reading, and may reply anyway, because I'm wacky like that.

Peace out, y'all.

your teaching song about the black death was mentioned here http://science.slashdot.org/story/12/06/16/1838236/black-death-discovered-in-oregon
*cough* I have _no_ idea who was responsible for that :)

So why hasn't anyone recorded a Black Death performance for YouTube?
The Syfy movie tonight is called Piranhaconda.

PIRANHACONDA.

Between that and the Kaiju marathon on TCM last night this is an awesome weekend.
Hee! That's the second time today I've been amused by mention of piranha. (The first occasion was a snarky suggestion that pirhanabirds be used to help discourage immigration.) What are the odds?

Other oddities ... how about eye-pattern identification of spiders or an amazing image of noctilucent clouds?

And isn't that an awesome photo of Our Host's cute and cuddly and carnivorous coon cat!

Here is my cat, Sweetie, doing her impression of the Yin/Yang symbol.

That is awesome and adorable.

Today I took a high school friend to Borderlands and recommended all your books! She seemed most interested in the Fae and Rosemary and Rue, so she may check Toby Daye out.
Whenever I finish one of your books, I exclaim, "Dammit, Seanan!"

No reason. It just seems appropriate.
I thought I was the only one :)

Perry is great! We had pizza for dinner and watched The Woman in Black. David is playing Witcher 2 and wishing for a second computer screen. Brandon is Skyping and playing Minecraft with his best friend. I am putting off a library run, a grocery run, and laundry until tomorrow. David's three oldest plus the oldest daughter's SO are coming up in the afternoon for Father's Day tomorrow. I am just hanging out for the moment but plan a more productive writing day tomorrow.
Here is Wyn contemplating her favorite toy, the tip of Romy's tail.

Oops, the timer just went off, must go and remove the blueberry buckle from the oven.
I am lazy and do not wish to bother Google. What's a blueberry buckle?

It's a wonderful day! I got my little Witch Doctor to level 11 in Diablo 3, I got all my work done, and I got through an entire row on the baby blanket that I'm knitting before my hand gave out. I'm healing from my surgery! The stitches come out Monday. Then I will be able to SHOWER!!!!!!!

Can you tell that's going to be an amazing day?
OMG first post-surgery shower is BETTER THAN SEX.

My room mate swore when the second cat in four months passed away she would never get another cat. Today we went out and she adopted a very pretty little calico named carly. Very sweet kitty, but until she settles in, i don't have any photos of her.
I went up to Memphis to help a friend move things from her storage unit. Spent the night at her apartment with her four very friendly cats. The cats were confused, at first, to have two people on the futon instead of just one, but they quickly adapted. We were covered with cat fur in the morning. ^_^
One of my Goodreads friends posts a jubilant "NEW PAGE!" comment every time a thread gets a new page, so I asked him if he's part Aeslin mouse. :)
HAIL THE NEW PAGE!

Winter in Melbourne is really cold this year.

I asked Nemo is he wanted to tell Thomas and the other cats anything but he ignored me and went on sleeping.

I am currently mired in the middle of Late Eclipses because bad things are happening (that's not a spoiler, is it? It's a Toby book; bad things happen), and I just can't bear to watch. I know that eventually things will work out, for some values of working out (it's a Toby book), but... I think it's a sign for how awesome the books are, that I currently Just Can't Bear to Watch, because I care too much about the people in the books. So. :)

Also, I am grading on a Saturday night, because omg summer session ends a week from yesterday and how the hell did that happen.

And your cats are beautiful.
LOL Late Eclipses gets rough! (They all do!) I love how stressful they are because it means you care.. but also.. you care a lot.

This is my problem with Blackout. It's awesome and wonderful and all-consuming. But goddamn it's giving me stress stomach pains because I care way too much about the characters. Hahaha. It blows my brain how much I care! Like they're my friends!

Happy Grading!
So freaking adorable.

Is that a dog toy? I buy my cats dog plushies because they love them. Of course they're about half the size of Thomas, especially Billy, who is a pretty small cat.
Also here are my boys:

Billy (Dr. Horrible):

and Locke Lamora:

Cats rock my socks.

Leo says, "Hey Thomas, what shall we MURDER together?"

Taz says HI from cold and frosty down under, where he has spent the afternoon asleep next to the fire. I got down with the camera to take pictures of his furry toes, and I got this instead :)

This is so appropriate right now, as Aidan's been having a Phineas & Ferb marathon all evening.
I just got tickets to see "The Lion King" in San Francisco in January.

I had to go out TWICE to get Coca-Cola whilst re-reading the Newsflesh trilogy. Twice. I don't even touch the stuff normally!

Also, I've been giving serious thought to getting the poem Forever Halloween (that is years old, and you probably don't even remember writing) tattooed, either all or in part, on my right side.
While not nearly so neat as tattooing, I am trying to figure out if I can get a certain line from Wicked Girls embroidered on this Tinkerbelle Messenger Bag that the M-i-L gave into our keeping...

In the hopes that zombies will entertain you:

http://www.sjgames.com/gurps/books/zombies/ (coming soon)
And
http://www.sjgames.com/ourgames/zombies.html (includes shirts and games and whatnot)

http://www.sjgames.com/apps/zombiedice/ has .m4r files that go Braaaaaains, to use as ringtones if you wish. And, um, if your phone likes .m4r files as ringtones. (I know so little about the arcane art of ringtones.)
.
This morning, I fixed up the edges of the seasonal tadpole basin. If we get a big enough rain to bring out the toads for mating, their pool of water will be more secure (less subject to horses' hooves breaching the walls) this year. There's more I want to do to it if it doesn't rain tonight, but it's good enough do do the job of raising all those little taddies to toadlets.
.
Hurrah for tadpole h(e)avens!

Thank you, Thomas. May I say you are adorable? Our Amber had a blue plastic whale that she was exceedingly fond of, but it doesn't have a patch on your Perry.
*sigh* There isn't a day that goes by the I don't curse being allergic to cats. I can be around them but I can't live any length of time with them as even with cleaning my breathing degrades significantly due to dander. And if I pet them I can't rub my eyes. Thus no snuggling with teh kitties. Medicine doesn't seem to help either unfortunately. :-(

That said my daughter seems to have NOT inherited that allergy so when she eventually gets out in the world she can have all the cats she wants.

In other silliness a friend of mine at work and I came up with an awesome breakfast food idea:

1) Shred cheddar cheese into the larger size shreds.

2) Grind some breakfast sausage extremely fine. Cook in gravy. (Brown or country - either one will do.) Might want to undercook the gravy.

3) Crumble a whole heck of a lot of bacon.

4) Mix the bacon with biscuit dough.

5) Place the dough mix in a greased muffin pan.

6) Make a small well in the center of the muffin and fill it with the gravy+sausage mix. Pinch it closed at the top.

7) Cover the top with shredded cheese.

8) Bake using the biscuit dough directions but monitor the cheese so it doesn't burn.

9) Enjoy cheese biscuit and gravy muffins.

Optionally I thought about using a pastry injector with a 1/4" tip to inject the gravy+sausage into the center then melt the cheese on afterwards.

If anybody wants to test this and report back I'd like to hear the results. :-)

The methodology is sound, though you may want to thicken the gravy a bit.

It sounds NOM.
