"San Diego 2014" now available for pre-order!

Hello, boys and ghouls. It's your friendly internet horror hostess with the most...machetes...coming at you with another update in the zombie roller coaster ride that is my work as Mira Grant. Specifically, I want to let you all know that "San Diego 2014: The Last Stand of the California Browncoats," is now available for pre-order.

This stand-alone novella follows the events of the last San Diego International Comic Convention after the Rising, and is framed, narratively, by Mahir Gowda's interview of the only known survivor of the event, Lorelei J. Tutt (USCG, Retired). We already know how it ends; we already know how it began. What matters is what happened in the middle.

"San Diego 2014" is being released via the Orbit Short Fiction program, and will be available in just about all ebook formats on July 11th, 2012. The retail cost is $2.99. While Orbit is working on getting the program up and running in other regions, it is currently US-only. I'm sorry about that, and you should contact Orbit if you have any questions.

Sorry. :( I'm assured that they're working on fixing this and getting the stories available outside the US. It frustrates me, too.

There's no way we could convince you to become a video version of the horror hostess with the most (machetes) is there? Because I think you'd be fantastic at it!

I don't do e-books, for various good and sufficient reasons, so I hope your short stories will be collected in actual book form someday, please.

I don't either, as a reader, but this is something over which I have absolutely zero control. Unless someone expresses an interest in a physical edition, it won't happen. Orbit did not commission these for physical printing.

I sent you an email the other day (which you incredibly kindly replied to), but I just thought I'd reiterate how incredibly fangirlishly excited I am to have discovered you as an author. I mean, come on: medical sci-fi novellas about browncoats? It's like one of my nerdy med school friends is writing the best zombie books I've ever read. It makes me happy. (Which is good, because Deadline is making me cry. So it balances out.)
