In which Seanan is a bad blogger, and does not get a biscuit.

I don't think it's any secret around here that I've been running at warp speed basically since a month before WorldCon, last year. This has resulted in a general decrease in available content here at my journal, because slowing down enough to type an entry hasn't always been an option. So here are some things I've meant to blog about, and haven't:

1. I went to Disney World for a week, with Vixy and Amy and Brooke and Patty. My mother and sister were there, too, but we sort of had parallel-but-rarely intersecting vacations. This was ideal, as my idea of "fun at Disney" involves pin trading and shows and ice cream and frogs, while theirs involves luaus and smoking and ludicrous plush and more smoking. Our only real point of overlap is roller coasters, and we already had a full car.

2. Also I went to Disneyland for a weekend, with Vixy, my mom, and my sister. See above for the basics.

3. I watched a lot of television, in an extremely non-critical manner. I don't believe that you should shut off your brain completely while consuming entertainment, but sometimes I really just want to be all "you know what? I like what I like," and not be all analytical and thoughtful about it. This stops when somebody blows up a blonde girl.

4. I went to New York for a week and a half, where I saw the Counting Crows (with my agent), Ludo (with a large group of friends, my former editor, and my agent; I have a very full-service agent), and The Devil's Carnival (with several friends, including Tu, who I didn't even realize was on the East Coast until I found her in line).

5. Also there is a permanent haunted house called Times Scare in New York, open 365-days a year. If I lived there, I would wind up asking about a Frequent Dier's card or something, because I would be in there at least once a week, being chased by a man with a chainsaw and giggling unnervingly.

6. I wrote some book club articles for SFX Magazine. The second, which is about The Midwich Cuckoos, is out now. I need to think more about the responses some of the readers have had to the book (not to my article), because they're fascinating to me. But basically? I got paid for my Wyndham and telepaths obsession. Life is good.

7. I went to Maine! I stayed with Cat and Dmitri! I want to move to Maine! I won't, because I'm moving to Washington, but seriously, in another timeline, I have already bought a house on Peaks Island, and I am not sorry. I sort of envy that version of me.

8. An old friend from high school literally showed up on my doorstep. Randomly.

9. I ate six pounds of cherries and I'm not sorry about that either.

10. I am currently behind on word count in several areas, which is why comments are going unanswered for what feels like, to me, an unreasonably long time. But I'm catching up. Slowly. I think.

And those are some of the things I've been too frazzled to blog about.

I'm glad you had fun! No worries about comments. In general, I love replies, but I don't *expect* them. From you and your crazy busy, I worry about you replying too much.
Thank you, dear.
Bah humbug -- I say you get biscuits anyway :)
YAY BISCUITS.
If you have (had) six pounds of cherries, there are no regrets. Only envy from those who had not even a pound of them last night, and had to save a few for the kid. >_>
Mmmmmm, cherries.
I would not be sorry about eating six pounds of cherries, either.

I would, however, have to fully acknowledge and accept the inevitable consequences thereof before hand. :-) Totally worth it, though.
Well, yes. I sort of signed up for that inevitable consequence. I have no regrets.
Don't worry about us here. Prepare for your trip to WorldCon. The interwebs will be here when you get back. <3

It seems like you have been living up the Disney! I need to go back to Disney World. And I need to get over to Disney Land sometime in my life.
I love me some Disney!
Disney alone is reason not to post. Too busy having fun. Year-round haunted house sounds great!

Are you really moving to Washington and leaving the Bay Area?
That is the goal!
and Jean Grey?
Still dead! \o/

Cherries! It is finally cherry season. I had a pound of organic cherries (they had fewer blemishes and looked better than the non-organic) and they were expensive (though not much more expensive than the normal cherries) and I do not regret a thing. Nom nom nom nom. I have rainer cherries in my bag to eat with lunch, and again, I do not regret the expense, even if it was my fruit budget. My only regret is that is cherry season, and I am so very, very stuffed up that I cannot fully taste them.

Times Square has a haunt??? Now I need to go back to NYC. Your version of Disneyland sounds very very awesome.

Now i wanna go back to New York (i lived there for a few years), and am second-guessing my decision to NOT camp on your doorstep when I was in San Francisco last month.
Aw.
I hold to my standard view of blogging:

If it's a choice between blogging about doing things or doing things, fuck the blog.
Awesome standard.
You have been so crazy busy that I think you should have a biscuit anyway. And enjoy those cherries and the TV, because seriously. I don't know how you do everything sometimes. I would probably just stop about halfway through all of that and take a nap.

Sorry to make a new comment (I don't mean to add to the pile!), but I hope things get a little less crazy soon!

Also, where is the book club article? >> Am curious...
It's in the newest issue of SFX. The one with MIB3 on the cover.
I would just prefer you do your word count
Me, too!
This stops when somebody blows up a blonde girl.

I remember you saying on Twitter that you were getting annoyed with Glee, at least until the finale when all was forgiven.

How much did what happened to Quinn in On My Way have to do with that?
Nothing at all. My irritation with blowing up blonde girls is basically "doing it when they are the only female cast members, and just to make shit get real for your male cast members." Quinn's storyline sucked, but it wasn't that sort of suck.
Season 9 of So You Think You Can Dance has begun (or at least the audition episodes have.) See anyone you like yet?

I'm disappointed that Natalia Mallory hasn't shown up this year.
I try not to get attached to people during auditions. I wait for VEGAS.
And now my head is combining Disney posts and I keep seeing you on the Japanese unicycle version of the Segways endemic to Disney Florida with your broken leg. Dancing them. Very Glee. </p>

Which the segues into InCryptid and similar devices at the annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade.

Bad brain. Go read a zombie book and cower.

That would be AWESOME.
You're moving to Washington?

YES! *pumps fist victoriously*
Yes!
Where were the frogs at Disneyworld? I totally missed them, and damn because I kind of like frogs.
They tend to live at the resorts, not in the main parks.
I am anxiously waiting for our local organic farm to have their cherries out. It's been SO COLD up here that pretty much all the fruit is late. (Like, yesterday, it was in the 50s. It's pretty whacked.)
Whoa.
Did you borrow Cat Valente's 110 pound dog and walk home?

(Pardon me, I've been catching up on Squeecasts recently)

And wishes for your frazzled state to cease.
I'm working on it!
I will argue that, because of Blackout, you deserve biscuits.
Best argument is best.

1. I loved Disneyland. I've only been there once, during their 35th anniversary celebration. Haunted Mansion rocked. I only have one Disney pin, a Beauty and the Beast pin from Disneyland Resort Paris that I got on Ebay.

3. Do you watch/read Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire? The second season just ended, and there were zombies.

5. A permanent haunted house in NYC shouldn't surprise me, but it does. I think the universe created that just for you. :)

9. I have to ask -- in one day or multiple days? Either way, it sounds like cherry heaven.

10. I don't mind getting comments after the fact. :) Surprise Seanan responses are always welcome.
1. I love Disney World best, but Disneyland rules.

3. Nope.

5. BEST HAUNTED HOUSE EVER.

9. One day.

10. Yay!
Biscuits are overrated. Mix yourself a martini, stop worrying about replying to posts, and call it a day. So sayeth me. 8-)

Disney trip sounds lovely. Disneyland surprised me the last time we were there by keeping us all amused, adults, tweens and a certain 6 year old who went all wide eyed and speechless on meeting Tinker Bell. What, do they put something in the water there? Persists in being happiest place on Earth despite bad moods, sore feet, lack of martinis on hand.

Cherries = yum. Cherry pie, cherry clafouti, my own big bag of freshly-picked, chilled cherries, oh my!

Washington? I hope not anytime soon - we'll suffer 'round these parts without references to Castle Seeno and equally-gigantic San Ramon Costco, not to mention your sunny presence at local farmers market and the coolness points we get from knowing you chose to live near us. No pressure, or anything (wink!) ...

D
You are full of wisdom.

Sounds like you had a fabulous time all over and I am thrilled for you. Everyone needs a vacation once in a while--yes, even you, Superwoman. ;)
I'm trying!
half the time I don't even know what coast I'm on. which is really annoying when you wake up thinking you'll get a burrito and then realize the nearest decent one's hours away. on one of the grosser subway lines.

I wish there was some sort of cherry eating grant you can get that would pay for one to live in Maine and eat fruit.

Certainly don't stress about comments. there's so much more entertaining stuff to be completely frazzled by.
Coastal disorientation sucks.

Cherries! Yay! (invasive cherry pests, boo. Enjoy your cherries now because the West Coast may have a dearth of them in the near future.)

If you do end up moving to Snohomish, I will have to let my brother (who lives there) know. It never hurts to have a rocket scientist as a neighbor.
...what? Cherry pests?
