Everyone's got someone on the Wall.

Here's a reminder for all you Mira Grant fans out there:

I, and by extension, she, will be appearing at Borderlands Books this coming Saturday, June 2nd, at 6:00 PM. Why? To celebrate the release of Blackout, naturally! There will be Q&A, cupcakes, and a reading from "San Diego 2014: The Last Stand of the California Browncoats."

As an extra added bonus, if you come early, Mary Robinette Kowal, also known as "the voice of October Daye," will be at the story at 3:00 PM, reading from and promoting her awesome new book, Glamour in Glass.

Borderlands events are free of charge, and the store is more than happy to take orders for signed and inscribed copies, if you can't attend.

I hope to see you there!

SAD FOREVER.

I think this is only the second one I'll have missed. Curse you, BFD Scheduling Gods!

Today is my payday and I went right to Amazon and bought the Kindle version of Blackout!

Sadly, I left my Kindle at home so I can't start reading it until tonight. . . (i.e., not during my lunch hour.)
Aw, sad!

See you there! Yay!
Thank you for coming!
I was just thinking that I'm feeling very Georgia Mason today.... My head is pounding and I'm wearing polarized sunglasses in a dark room to look at a computer screen. Thank You for giving me a name to put on days like this.

If I may ask a personal question? Do you have a favorite machete? I see lots of "cool" or "tactical" machetes in catalogs, but the only one I ever owned (which at the moment I cannot find) was a 60's (50's?) vintage GI machete with a slightly rotted canvas sheath (which, wherever it is, is completely rotted by now). The last time I needed one I ended up using a $5 flea-market costume-Katana, because it was handy... but it freaked out the neighbors. If Poof! you could have any Machete the series of tubes could deliver, which would it be? You're the only Machete expert I know....
My favorite machete is a digging machete from Bermuda, which is currently off being de-rusted and polished.
Oh man, I would love to go but I promised myself I wasn't going to drive into the city or the easy bay this weekend. Do you have any south bay excursions planned in the near future?

(BTW, I loved Blackout SO MUCH. It was so great to have Georgia back.)
Borderlands is really convenient to BART if you can get yourself there.

If I can swing the gas, I'm going to try to be there. I'm behind on my autographed copies ...
I hate having to make the gas calculations on whether I can afford to go somewhere.

Sadly this is the first weekend of the Tahoe Renn Faire, and Groblek, mini-human, and I will be dancing in the forest. I hope you have a blast!
Yay, forest!
Am on wrong coast, but so it goes. Am also firmly Not Reading Blackout until a) I have sent in my votes for Mythopoeic Adult so I can b) read up for and vote on the Hugos with a clear conscience, which, sadly, includes making as sure as I can that I am voting on Deadline, not Deadline + Blackout. (Okay, voting on Deadline + Feed to some degree is kind of inevitable, but one does what one can.)

Last year, a) was pretty easy. This year, a) actually involves a fair bit of rereading and judgement calls. This means it was a good year.
(This doesn't mean that Blackout isn't sitting on my bookshelf, singing its zombie siren song, cuz it totally is.)

"and the store is more than happy to take orders for signed and inscribed copies, if you can't attend."

In fact I just received my shipment of signed and inscribed Toby books ( and deadline ) after your tweet about going in there last time, And Jude sounds like a good person.

Yay!

Jude rocks.
*Sigh* One of these days one of your readings/events at Borderlands will overlap with a time that I'm actually in CA, and the world will be made of win. Until then, I'll have to settle for looking out over the Microsoft campus in seattle and smiling as I imagine it being taken over by a zombie horde.
Yay!
Sounds like fun!
It rocked.
I may have to be fashionably late, but I'll be there!
We missed you.

By the way, just... thank you for Newsflesh. I finished Blackout a few days back and absolutely loved it. I especially liked how George proved herself to Shaun... always wondered about that but I'm glad you came right out with it. I've been a little too incoherent lately with pain issues to write a proper review on Goodreads (which I rarely do, I rate and move on) but the whole series was just... phenomenal. The best book like it that I can think of was Discount Armageddon, but that's no surprise! Looking forward to many more books from you :)
You are so very, very welcome.
I am like 100% positive that when I get to read 'Browncoats' I will end up writing crossover fic with it and Big Bang Theory.

Have you read Tansy Rayner Roberts' Creature Court trilogy, just by the by? I think you'd like it, if you haven't.
I have not! I'll add it to the long, long list.
