There's room for everyone on the Wall.

And now, the moment I have been quietly waiting for...

Ahem. From today's announcement at Publishers Weekly:

"Film rights: Mira Grant's trilogy, Feed, Deadline, and Blackout, optioned to Rachel Olschan, producer at Electric Entertainment, by Pouya Shahbazian of FinePrint, on behlf of Diana Fox at Fox Literary."

WE OPTIONED THE FILM RIGHTS TO FEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, this doesn't mean this will necessarily be a movie (although I hope there will), but it takes us a huge, huge step closer to that becoming a reality. Everyone I've dealt with has been amazing, supportive, and enthusiastic, and now there's a beautiful chance that maybe, we can see Shaun and Georgia Mason on the big screen.

How's that for a book-day present?

ETA: Belated comment amnesty, because you guys are awesomely enthusiastic, and wow will I never get to all these comments!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Giggle. And, to top it all off, Barnes & Noble seems to have fixed the bug which prevented access to ebooks on release day! I won't be sleeping tonight!
Oh. Oh. OH MY. Congratulations and yay and fingers crossed it makes it all the way to movie!
Congratulations! I hope such a project works out in a way that makes you happy! It would be so totally awesome to see the world on the silver screen.
Wow!!! What fantastic news!!!!
I will. I'm also telling as many people as I can how good your books are.
Conga-rats!
Hail! I will celebrate this joyous event by pre-ordering the boxed-set edition of Newsflesh!

Also, have you read Peter Watts' story of his dance with necrotizing fasciitis?
I have!
EEEEEEEEEEEEEE

(coincidentally, the sound I make when I see the undead)
Congratulations! That's so wonderful!
*SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAMS*

FUCK YEAH SEAKING!
FUCK. YES. you know i was just thinking earlier today that this trilogy would make some damn awesome films. i really hope someone gets in on that.

congrats!! <3
Mazel tov, chica!

Just remember to follow F. Scott Fitzgerald's rules for working with Hollywood: 1) Have them toss you the money. 2) Toss them the manuscript. 3) Boil money for 20 minutes.
OMFG that is so awesome!

I'm going to spend the rest of today fantasizing about the perfect cast.
HAIL! and also YAY!!!!
Late reading this ... super huge congrats! That's fabulous!
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OH MY GOD YAAAAAAAY!
That's fantastic!
Congratulations :)
Congratulations!!!!
I know that I'm way late in shouting "Yes!" from the rooftops :) But despite being rabid fan for your novels, I just barely made a LiveJournal account today. And when I saw the awesome news, I had to post. I'm so happy...as I always knew 'The Newsflesh' team would make great movies...or even a television show. I bet it would give 'The Walking Dead' a run for it's money...as Newsflesh is not only funnier, it explains why the zombie apocalypse happened. Unlike in TWD. Now, Seanan, you've got to get them to do same thing for the 'Parasitology' books. Congratulations, you rock!
