When will you rise...and when will you fall?

I've spoken before about my love of fanfic, and how it allows you to do things you can't necessarily do "in canon." One of those things, one of my favorite things, is the alternate universe. What would have happened if Toby had never become a fish? If Thomas had convinced Alice to go back to the Covenant with him, instead of leaving it for her?

If someone else had been the first to die?

I have written an alternate ending to Feed, picking up at what was originally chapter twenty-five. It's called Fed, and I'm very pleased with it, in part because it shows that no, the original ending wasn't the worst possible outcome. This was.

Fed is kindly being hosted by Orbit, thus preventing me from becoming a blibbering mess in the week leading up to the release of Blackout, and for right now, you can download and read by liking the Facebook page they've set up specifically for this purpose. (It's getting a one-week Facebook exclusive for marketing purposes, and I surely would appreciate it if you went and hit the "like" button.) This is full of spoilers, so I recommend against reading it if you haven't read Feed.

Rise up while you can.

Oooh, thank you~!

(Though one thing I was expecting to happen in your alternate universe (based on Deadline spoilers) didn't and that would have made it even worse for the Masons. I may be a horrible person.)
I'm curious what you thought of; if it's too spoilery, would you be willing to message me?

Oh, ouch. OUCH.

I like the real ending better. I never thought I'd say that.

I was afraid you were going to do something like a reversal of the ending of FEED, and incorporate part of the important thing revealed about Shaun and Kellis-Amberlee. I'm glad you didn't, though; it would have been far too Romeo and Juliet.

Still, ouch.

And the Masons suing the site for the cost of Georgia? Yet another demonstration of their pettiness. Wow.

Argh! This is me shaking my fist at my office's firewall which is preventing me from reading this right now.
Yeah. I hope this gets reposted after the week of Facebook exclusivity is over.

"Toto, we're home. Home! And this is my room, and you're all here. And I'm not gonna leave here ever, ever again, because I love you all, and - oh, Auntie Em - there's no place like home!"
...your intention with the above quote may have been to celebrate returning to the Newsflesh universe, but I parsed it in the context of Georgia's final act and found myself cursing you in languages I don't actually know. *wry smile*

I never thought I would be actually grateful for Feed's ending.
I know, right?

Alas, will have to get sidoux to get me in to see this, as I am one of the dwindling few who still resist the call of Facebook, and (as far as I can tell) you need to have an account and like the thing in order to see it. (Something tells me this won't be hard to do, as it is more Newsflesh-y goodness.)
It'll be non-exclusive after a week, but the week was worth it if it meant Orbit did all the formatting and setup work for me, y'know?

Its worth knowing that if you follow the paths, there are options to download the file as a pdf :)

Thank you.
Yes, but I can't say that until the exclusivity period ends. ;)

Ghods DAMN, Seanan. Just, wow.

[edited to remove sentence that I didn't think about being a spoiler for Fed, because I figured everyone would read the excerpt before reading the comments, and I was wrong.]
Yay, thank you!

Oh *censored*, you mean I actually have to join Facebook now? I really didn't want to, but it's beginning to look like I'll have to do it.

grumph.
I think at this point we're all forced to join Facebook, like it or not, no matter what it does to out you everywhere it can with the constantly changing everything.

GRRRRRRRRR.

Well. That was an painful way to kill part of my afternoon. Ouch.
Yay!
I will be over here whimpering in a corner.

yeah, the ending of Feed suddenly doesn't..., nope, still hurts as much. But it is a better hurt than this one.
See? It coulda been worse.
Waiting, patiently for the one-week Facebook exclusivity to pass. OK - not so patiently, but still waiting. :-)

Calling all my Feed fiend friends who ARE on FB to let them know, though...
Yay!
So that's what it feels like to spontaneously burst into tears.

...whoops.

It's a good thing today already sucked....

You don't pull any punches, do you?
Not usually. It seems dishonest.

I'm getting an "The webpage at https://a.pgtb.me/facebook/app/53669/renderi/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address." error, in both Firefox and Chrome, after "liking" the page.

I'm also swearing about that... will check back again later.

*sniffle*sob*want instant gratification!!* *grin*

Tried again in Firefox, it works. Meep.

(Memo to self: be careful what you ask for...)
Yay!
And it's fantastic (no surprise).

I made my husband go to the Tea Gardens so I could get pics of the fish; it's a truly lovely place that I would have missed if not for you (& Toby). Thank you.
You're so welcome!
:'(

That is all.
Yes.
NoScript isn't letting me get past ALL THE MULTIMEDIA on that page -- so... so.
How tedious. :(
You are evil! Evil I say.

But I love you best right now.
That means I win!
