Ten things make a list, ergo, this is a list.

10. Orders for the second run of Wicked Girls shirts are now open, and will remain open until May 18th. Please read the post carefully, as it includes important ordering information. We're planning a more gender-neutral shirt next, probably saying "My story is not done," but we need to get through this batch, first. In other news, I am a glutton for punishment.

9. A bit of confusion has arisen relating to my East Coast trip. So here's the skinny: I am going to the East Coast, I am not attending any conventions while I'm there, I may or may not be doing any appearances. It's all still up in the air. I'll sign books at any bookstores I stumble over, but that's about all I can guarantee right now.

8. If you're in New York, however, and enjoyed Repo: The Genetic Opera, might I recommend looking at the tour dates for The Devil's Carnival? It's the new project by the same people, and it looks awesome. I'll be attending the 7pm showing in Manhattan on April 26th, and more people always make for a better party. Unless there's a limited amount of cake.

7. One of my favorite comic books, The Boys, is going into its final story arc. I am going to miss it so much when it's gone. On the other hand, I said the same thing about Preacher, which was this creative team's former collaboration, and look what it got me. I'm excited to see what comes next.

6. I am trying not to be nervous about the Philip K. Dick Awards, which happen Friday evening, while I'm, you know, a state away. I have managed not to get my hopes up too high, although I have to admit, it would be awesome to win. It really is just an honor to be nominated.

5. To the two girls dressed as Jean Gray who called the girl dressed as Emma Frost a skank this past weekend at Emerald City: Not cool. We're all geeks here together, and while you may have been giggling in character, she wasn't with you.

4. To the extremely pretty girl dressed as Emma Frost who got called a skank this past weekend at Emerald City: You looked absolutely stunning, and your confidence and poise as you walked made it even better. Don't let people bring you down. You are amazing.

3. And yes, that message would have been the same if it had been two Emmas and a Jean. I only noticed because the costumes caught my eye.

2. In further comic book news, my comic book store tried to incite a Sharks vs. Jets throw-down between Avengers fans and X-Men fans last night. Apparently the Avengers were winning...until I walked in the door. Turns out, I'm a destructive force of nature where my comics are concerned. Who knew, right?

1. Zombies are love.

I must have missed the announcement of the Philip K Dick nomination. Congratulations on the nomination, and I'll be crossing my virtual fingers for you Friday evening. Best wishes!

Also, "My story is not done" is a most excellent t-shirt quote. I might just have to break the "I really do not need more t-shirts, the drawer is already overflowing with awesome" rule for that one. It would also make a fabulous bumper sticker, if ever you decided to go that route.
Thank you!

And yeah, no stickers...yet. *ominous music*
All right, I was JUST wondering when the Philip K. Dick awards were! Now I know to check the Internet Friday night!
I shall be home, quivering in fear.

I thought so.

Oooooooooooo, pie.

All of us, dear. :)
Yay!
How long will you be in Manhattan? We are due to host a Heather Dale house concert on April 29th. If you're still here, please come!
Sadly, that is the day I fly home. :(
I'm going to miss The Boys, too. I do love that Ennis likes to write an actual -arc- though, a full story with a beginning, middle, and end, and even more, that he actually gets to do it. There have been more than a few titles that have ended rather in the middle because they've been dropped or the creators ran out of money. I'm not the biggest fan of everything Dynamite does, but I'll give them a free pass for a long time for picking up The Boys after DC said they couldn't do it anymore. (DC gets props from me for actually handing over the rights and telling them to shop it elsewhere, too.)
Agreed. On all counts.
Re: #2
I didn't KNOW, but I could have predicted.
Hee.
"Unless there's a limited amount of cake."
But... the cake is a LIE.
Liar!
Zombies are rotters.
Love and rotters.
Interesting about The Boys. We started that series and found ourselves losing interest, and when our comic book shop closed, we shrugged it off. That would've been around 2008 or 2009. I'm assuming it's picked up since then! :)
In my estimation, it has, but I also like Ennis's style of storytelling, so your mileage may very well vary, y'know?

Squeee!
My Story is not Done is quite possibly my favorite song of yours!

I'm waiting with baited breath...
Yay!
Yay nominations!
Geeks being mean to each other? Very uncool. Unfortunately, something I've dealt with a lot.
Sad but true.
With multiple tumors and kidney failure...I have to tell myself/ves that My Story is Not Done! every day. Cant wait for the shirt.

:(
If you swing by the Capital Region of NY state, there are at least 3 bookstores I know carrying your books, 2 of which are independents.

Also, whatever meal is appropriate is on us. There are a lot of awesome restaurants in the area, in just about every type of cuisine you can think of.

I will not pester you to come to our neck of the woods, but I'm not above offering bribes. :)
How far is your neck of the woods from Manhattan?

You beat me to it, I thought I'd check the comments first instead of risking spamming poor Seanan with multiple i09 squees :)

I got a shirt at ECCC that says "Cupcakes: They're what our brains taste like to zombies"

Zombies are love. So are cupcakes. :D
Agreed.

You loved Preacher? So did I! I've been into vertigo since way back. Tulip and her guns, the Shane MacGowanesque Vampire, the lead and his quest to hunt down god...

It was a little weird for me as when the run started, I was dating a dude who looked just like the Preacher, which made the tee shirt awkward after we broke up. Anyway, it's cool to come across someone who knows what it is, even.

Fingers crossed on the award.

Oh, by the way? While this has been an astonishingly shitty week for me due to birmin (pictured in icon) and financial issues, your Discount Armageddon has been a real bright spot. Thank you so much. I admit to loving the Newsflesh books best, but everything I've read of yours has been an absolute delight from Toby to velveteen, and in a week with almost no sleep, frothy and fun was just perfect. Thank you for putting such a wonderful array of writing out into the world. Your narrative voice makes me smile every time.
I am so glad. :)
#6. Congratulations!

#5. That just sucks.

#4. But she rocks. I wonder if anyone got a picture, I'd love to see a good Emma Frost costume. And attitude is everything.

I'm unbelievably psyched about Dragon Moon '12 and the new Labyrinth line at BPAL.
Me, too!
With the comic book thing, I can't help but smell a little "Let's you and him fight" going on there.

I'm in the "Can't we all just get along?" camp. War is hard. Let's get coffee!
Agreed.

Yes, dear.
10. You're an author. If you draw the venn diagram, 'Authors' are a subset completely contained within the larger set 'Masochists'.

9. Temporary insanity, but understandable. I go back to visit family/friends, in very short exposures only.

8. Still need to see Repo, but have heard only good things.

7. Had not heard about this! Anything by Ennis is worth checking out, but I've been imitating a hermit for a while now...

6. The fix is in. I know someone is going to win. But yeah, I would be honored by that one fr' sure.

5. Either they got carried away by the roles (not likely if they were giggling) or they were twits.

4. It takes major confidence just to put an outfit like that *on*, and she pulled it off well. (Found pix on Flickr. No ECC for me, car trouble instead. On. The. Way. To. The. Con. @#$%.

3. Well, sure.

2. ...why are you assuming it's limited to comics?

1. Zombies are great for live-fire exercises. Actual hostiles, easy to control with the proper preparation, predictable on the range, yet providing the adrenalin rush you need to experience to learn to control it.

0. Love of Zombies is Lovely, if thy love be true and not spoiled love for one formerly alive and now doing the Undead Shuffle.

-1. Tired now. Off to bed, to dream of tight groupings on the pistol and effiecient snapshots with the rifle - on live-fire zombie range exercises, of course.
Hee.
