Ten things make a list; this is a list.

1. To clarify a point from all the shirt posts: please don't email now asking if your shirt has been mailed. Your shirt has been mailed. I don't know where it is anymore. The post office does what it will do, but as we have not, thus far, had anything vanish while in transit, I am relatively confident that your package will get to you. It can take up to a week within the US, and up to three weeks outside the US. If you are in the US and don't have a shirt by April 15th, or outside the US and don't have a shirt by May 1st, that's when we should become concerned. (That's a lot of time on purpose. I want to give the post office the chance to find things.)

2. Texas was gorgeous, and College Station was amazing. I realize the state's unusual weather meant that it was basically all dressed up for my West Coast eyes—it rained for several weeks before my arrival, so everything was green and covered in wildflowers—but first impressions matter, and my first impression was "This place is gorgeous." Definitely an E-ticket of a state.

3. Midnight Blue-Light Special has been turned in to The Editor, which means I can focus on all the other things that I'm supposed to be writing right now. No, it never ends. Which is also kind of awesome, even if right now, all I want to be working on is InCryptid. Stupid muse and her stupid laser focus. Oh, well.

4. Thanks to trusting the travel gods to see me safely home on Sunday, I managed to upgrade my two flights in coach to a single through flight in first class. Let me tell you, first class is a nice way to fly home. Also, there was free digital cable on the flight, so I watched Jennifer's Body, Zombieland, and Pandorum. Awesome, even more awesome, what the fuck were these people thinking.

5. Also on the topic of first impressions, thanks to this lingering cold, College Station's first impression of me was "scratchy-voiced, foul-mouthed, evil pixie." I can definitely settle for that.

6. Tonight, I do laundry; tomorrow, I pack for Emerald City Comic Con. Because it never really ends once it begins around here. I'm super-excited to see my Seattle family, go to my first ECCC, and hug Amy Mebberson lots and lots. My life is empty if I don't hug an Amy once a month. True fact. And my beloved Amy McNally went home after Consonance.

7. The cats are filled with hate, because the suitcases will not go away. I begin to fear retribution. On the plus side, their "retribution" usually takes the form of sleeping endlessly atop the objects of their annoyance.

8. The new Monster High characters are starting to ship, and my local Toys R Us is once again seeing me two and three times a week as I check in, looking for Rochelle Goyle and the basic Jackson Jekyll (he previously appeared in the beachwear line, Gloom Beach, which means this is the first time he's been available with all his accessories). Luckily, I have a tolerant mother, and tolerant friends.

9. For those of you in the UK, I have a column in this month's issue of SFX Magazine! Or, well, Mira does. I wrote an article about why The Stand is a classic and you should read it. US folks, you'll be able to pick up the issue next month. I'm really pleased with it.

10. Jean Grey is still dead, zombies are love, and the Great Pumpkin watches over us all.

You know, you put these two statements next to each other and you're just tempting fate.
I am simply preparing myself for the inevitable.

Oh Oh! Will you have a table at ECCC? I'm going. How do I find where you are so I can say hello? :D
I won't, but I'll be tweeting my location as I move around the floor.

The cats will shed. Shed deliberately and with focus and malice aforethought. (You can tell the difference - fur shed with malice either weaves one end into fabric so it can't be brushed off, or goes straight up your nose! HORRORS!)
They do that anyway.

1) Apologies, My shirt turned up today.

9) SFX , I haven't bought it since the whole JMS debacle ( http://www.am-utils.org/pipermail/b5jms/1999-November/003521.html ), you are a cruel woman....
I wasn't around for that, and they've been lovely to me. Sorry!
Hee!
I am still sad that my bardic competition ended up landing on the same day as ECCC this year, as I really would have loved to have gone, because it sounds like fun and it would have been awesome to meet you and have you sign one of my books. Hopefully you'll make it to a con in Seattle or Vancouver again sometime in the not-too-distant future. (maybe VCon? :)
Unlikely, for the moment. :(
A bit of silliness from Tumblr for your entertainment. There was a meme making the rounds over the weekend: "You restart the world. It’s a merging of the last three fictional worlds you experienced."

My last three were Transmetropolitan, InCryptid...and Glee.

As I said at the time, I can sort of see A&B working together, and I can absolutely see B&C together - I just know Kurt is a "Dance or Die" fan - but all three together just makes my brain hurt. ;-)
Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude.

my five year old loves monster high.

the sad thing is, she does not love it as much as i do.

and i totally don't take dorky pictures of frankie stein looking fabulous next to the plain jane barbies. really.
No, you'd never do that...
because the suitcases will not go away. I begin to fear retribution

I had a cat who very delicately shit in my suitcase... my first political statement.
Dude.
I finally watched Zombieland recently. So good!

(though, my fave zombie movie is still Dead Snow)
Mine is Slither.
You hit Texas at the one lovely time of year. Soon, the heat will be utterly unbearable and all the pretty plants and flowers will wilt and die. I wanted to head up to College Station last weekend, but was convinced to head to a ren faire closer to home. Glad you had a good time.
It was great!

#4-Flying first class on a trip to Europe is the only way to go. long story short, in 1994 I flew to London out of JFK. My luggage decided to fly to Hawaii (courtesy of an absent minded baggage handler). I finally got my suitcase back the night before I flew home. The people at Heathrow were very lovely to me and I think because I was very nice to them (i.e. not yelling at them because they couldn't find my errant suitcase) they decided to upgrade me to first class. I mean, why would I yell at them? It wasn't their fault my suitcase decided to travel around the world. (It landed in Hawaii and ended up making it's way to me via Guam and Dubai). First Class on a Trans-Atlantic Flight? Sheer Bliss.

#7 Sad to say, nothing but rain for the next week or so. Emerald City is going to live up to it's name. And then some. Bring rain boots, an umbrella and possibly an ark. But on the other hand? Warm enough not to snow. :D

#8 Can you bribe the cats? I would be happy to offer tributes to them. And at least their retribution doesn't involve claws. Which Roarke's often does. *eep*

#10 Zombies are always love.

Hope you are feeling better and Enjoy Emerald City Con.
OMG Trans-Atlantic First Class.

I dream of this.
Don't listen to the detractors, all of Texas is beautiful year-round (except for Houston) and from the I-37/I-35 corridor east it's green. We did luck into some rain at the right time for wildflower season, I admit.

I would have liked to have made it to Aggiecon, but the work gods have not smiled upon me so far this year so paychecks have been a little thin.
It was gorgeous.
Tonight ... We Do ... The Laundry!

Today is a good day to wash clothes!

Give me Laundry or give me Death!

This Is Laundry!

Foldin' foldin' foldin', keep the laundry foldin'....

:D

Jean Grey is still dead

"All I've ever done is to die on you."
- Jean to Scott when Grant Morrison was writing the comic-book.

Meanwhile, in the movie...
http://cli.ps/TamfJ
I loved Morrison's run.
Super pleased that Midnight Blue-Light Special (I still want to call it Disco) is a step closer to being a real live book. The cats will be cool, well as long as Alice doesn't get into the underwear drawer again.
How different would our bizarre fantasy worlds be today if Alice had gotten into the underwear drawer instead of through the looking glass?

I was going to post about how you told me to tell you some mean thing during your stay in College Station, and how afterwards I would say it wasn't my fault because I was told to. I never really wanted to in the first place, so I wont. I will, however, say that I had not heard of you before the convention, and because of meeting you want to devour your books (with eyes, rather than subcutaneous maggots, though I understand eyes are a strange thing to eat with, too). I enjoyed your panels and in some small way getting to know you. Thank you for all you taught directly and all I have yet to glean indirectly from the experience.
Thank you so much for coming! It was really great to meet everyone, and I had an absolutely amazing time.
YAY Emerald City Comic Con! I've never been before either so I'm excited. I'm sure it'll be a blast.
I hope so!
One of my ex wives is going to that con. I will have to see if she can find you for a photo op n a second hand hug. This is not Misha/Lysystratae who buys me all your books. This is another ex wife.
Awesome!
Is it strange that I have OCD about leaving you comments now that I know that un-responded to comments mess with your OCD? I almost feel guilty.

However, I hope I will get to see you at ECCC this weekend! *squee*!
No, it's not strange, but I hope you can work past it, because I really do appreciate comments!

See you this weekend!
I am dying to get my hands on Rochelle and Jackson. Of course, I'm still dying to get my hands on Spectra, Abby, and Torelei. Oh, and I need to get another Lagoona as I gave the one I had to my 5-year-old niece. But, Operetta is the pride of my collection.

I finished uploading most of my CDs to my new iPod, so I can listen to your albums wherever I go.

Have fun during convention season!
I need them aaaaaaaaaaaall.

I will try!

While you were at AggieCon, we were definitely thinking of you last Saturday at the Darrell Awards banquet at MidSouthCon in Memphis, Tennessee, where Mira Grant won the Dal Coger Memorial Hall of Fame award for her outstanding contributions to MidSouth Literacy. The plaque should be mailed to you by the Darrell Awards jury, but others should be able to view it here
It's beautiful! Thank you so much.

You mean like Dorothy & Kimba here?

Which has led to my current nubby fabric-covered suitcase looking like something newly reclaimed from Hurricane Katrina. Steve's hardsided one permanently resides standing upright to the left of his PC desk when we're home because it is Heidi's (in icon) favorite petting perch.

Edited for formatting.
Yes.

Just like that.
ooh ECCC -- if you see a short, fat, middle-aged woman with 4 teenagers dressed in Star Trek shirts, that'll be me... I promised the kids we'd drive over on Sunday for it, even though next week we're going over to Norwescon too, and all that driving after 2 back-to-back work trips (Oklahoma City and Dallas) is going to make me weep a bit, it'll be worth it! They have *promised* to wear the star trek shirts we got them as a gag gift (3 of them have the yellow captain shirt, one has the red expendable shirt -- the gag was on her ) and one daughter wants to meet Wil Wheaton with an obsessiveness he may want to be wary of! I've not been to a comic con before, so this should be interesting and fun.

I hope you have a blast with it too!
I hope you had fun!
