DISCOUNT ARMAGEDDON, in stores now!

As I am making this post, I am realizing that it's one of the last times I'll have the awesome Discount Armageddon cover icon as my default. It always changes to reflect my upcoming book, and DA isn't the new baby anymore. It's a bittersweet feeling. I'm so excited to have this book out in the world, and yet.

And yet.

I've been doing lots to get ready for this book release. I've been giving interviews—one with Chuck Wendig, at Terrible Minds, wherein I say "fuck" a lot, and one at My Bookish Ways, wherein I say "fuck" substantially less. (The My Bookish Ways interview is in conjunction with a giveaway, open to international entries. Just saying.) I've been distributing ARCs and author copies. I've been hyperventilating.

Okay, I've actually been hyperventilating a lot. Because starting a new series is scary, and introducing the world to a whole new cast of characters is scary, and a whole lot of things involved with this book are scary, and I am generally just a frozen ball of fear.

But the book is out now. In both physical and electronic editions, and you can order it at will. I'm going to swing by Borderlands and sign pre-ordered copies after I get off work, and then I'm going to go to Kate's and eat Indian and maybe demand a trip to Toys R Us.

I have kindle in hand and will pick up a real copy at B&N tonight whilst the ballerina is ballerina-ing. I'll either keep it or gift it. Or maybe I'll get two. One to keep and one to gift.

For the mice of course! I downloaded the Nook version I bought on Sunday this morning before setting out for work. Got to chapter 4 at lunch. Congrats on the launch of a great new series!

HAIL! Thank you very much for selling your author copies at Consonance. Sarah was nice enough to let me go first, so I spent Saturday morning curled up with it in our hotel room. This book rocks, and I think it's a very solid start to the series. The style feels different enough to me from your other books that I think there's the potential to broaden your fan base with this one and still keep your existing fans very happy. Also, I love the mouse silhouettes as scene breaks.

Thanks! And it was no trouble. I've started replacing them, and will replace more tonight, because that is how I could justify selling my author copies.

Just finished reading, and it's the first book since Feed that I thought "must remember for Hugo nominations next year!" I've been trying to put together a full Price-Healy family tree on ancestry.com (which has been fun). There are some holes to fill in as yet.

I also went looking for any other inCryptid material and found "One Hell of a Ride" eventually, which was a very cool story BUT there appears to be a formatting issue as the first four paragraphs are repeated after paragraph six! Since no text was missing it wasn't a major issue but you might want to fix it.

Yeah, I'm aware, but it turns out that fixing a minor formatting issue in a totally free story is a little less important than actually turning in paying work and surviving my book release day. Who knew?

Yeah for the (rare) good side to insomnia! The cats woke me up at 1 am this morning and I was able to download it to my Nook and read a couple chapters before going back to sleep. Stopping after work to buy some chocolate cake to go with the cheese and crackers I already have, to nibble while finishing the book.

HAIL! We ran down to Newington's B&N to pick up our copy today! They didn't have it in the New SF section (BOO!) but only in the New In Paperback display (YAY!).

That little piece of (mis)shelving almost drove me nuts at my B&N this evening! Somehow they had "misplaced" my preordered print copy from the hold shelf (well, whoever did get it, hope they enjoy it) and I'd already scanned both SF and New SF looking for other copies with no success. Trotted from checkout to the customer service desk... where I had to spell "Armageddon" for the clerk. I even actively followed him to the semi-secret location so he could not escape me. :)

I have my copy!! I arrived at my Barnes & Noble today just as the gentleman was putting them out on the "New In Paperback" shelf, and he kindly handed me one off the cart, so my copy never even made it to the shelf. Saving it for the car trip I start on Saturday, but very excited!!!!

Picked up two copies at Barnes & Noble. They had books in stock, but they couldn't find them. They finally found them in the back, so now they're out on the shelf!

I basically said "slkdjfslkdjfslkdj" and ran to the Nook store and when it asked "Do you want to purchase this?" I just yelled "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY" and now it is mine yay!

Discount Armageddon, you are in my Nook. *hugs it*

Just picked up mine from Barnes and Noble. They didn't have it out from the back yet but while I was still there they made a display for it in the new releases after I requested a copy of the book.

Something weird on the Chuck Wendig site (and it may always be like that, first time visitor!)...no questions? I see your answers, but no questions. Which is entertaining in a way, as guessing which question was asked to lead to the answer is a novel approach to interviewing, but possibly not intentional. Just me?

Weird. I just took another look at the interview, and it seems that the questions aren't text. It appears that each word in each question is a separate .png image. Do you have any software or security settings set up to block images?
