ARC winners for the latest giveaway!

First up, sorry for the delay: I decided that I hadn't spent enough quality time with the exciting stomach bug that's touring around the country and became vilely ill to make up for it. Details are not forthcoming. You're welcome. Technically, I'm still ill, but I can at least sit up and type now, which is more than I could manage yesterday.

Because so many people had great "why I should win a copy of Discount Armageddon" answers, and because I am still sick, I gave up on being arbitrary and leaned on the random number generator instead. Our winners are...

jhyanmar
kalenodonnell

But because I did say I was going to be arbitrary, and because I found a few extra ARCs in my mailbox yesterday, I am also going to send a copy to...

thebluerose

Because New Zealand needs cryptids.

If you're one of our winners, please send me your mailing address via my website contact form within the next twenty-four hours. If I don't have your contact info by then, I'll choose a new winner. (thebluerose, you and I will also need to work out shipping; we can do that after you contact me.)

For everybody else: what kind of giveaway should we do next? LOLcryptids? Poetry? Art? Cookies? The sky's the limit, and I want to know what you think.

And now I'm gonna go lie down.

LOLCryptids sounds good.
Feel better soon. I just caught the jackalope entry and I has a BIG happy. Something that eats like chicken and tastes like venison. SO BIG HAPPY HERE.
Yeesh. Hope you recover soonest.
..... there's no way I'd win a LOLcryptids giveaway, but I so totally want to see the results of one. Although if there will be ARCs of the second book, LOLcryptids might be a better contest for those, as we'll have more cryptozoology under our belt. Is that the right word?
Cookies! ... or LOLcrytids :P
should we do next? LOLcryptids

yes please, nothing sez cute like warm fuzzy tentacles... or claws... or fuzzy claws!!
Well, I think the very next giveaway should be an arbitrary giveaway and you should definitely arbitrarily chose me to win an ARC.

But the one AFTER that, a contest where we offer our own captions to some LOLcryptids could be fun. :)
I like cookies. I don't actually know how that would work as a contest, but, well, cookies! (Or maybe just InCryptid-inspired baked goods, so cupcakes don't feel left out.)

LOLCryptids ftw!
Oh man, I'm sorry. :( Hope you feel better soon.

Saw this post on my friends list today, and had to look twice to realize it was neither by you, nor by any of our mutual acquaintances. Firefly and My Little Pony mash up: http://mandydax.livejournal.com/372578.html
Hee hee hee.
Whatever you do next, it should revolve around the Aeslin mice, somehow.
I'm not entirely convinced that New Zealand's weta isn't a cryptid that camoflages itself by hiding in plain sight. It's power? Scaring the bejeebers out of anyone unfortunate enough to have it land on them.
I would so buy that.
Considering I once picked up a pair of jeans (from the bathroom floor no less) and had a weta bite me and then scuttle away hissing...I am forced to agree. Weta...they specialise in the scare (while being completely harmless).

I just wish they were better at scaring my cat so she would stop chasing the poor wee things.

Okay I just googled this creature and then screamed.

*Crosses New Zealand off the places to visit list*
They're actually kind of cute (in a so incredibly ugly they're adoreable sort of way).

It helps to know that they're not poisonous and they can't sting, the worst they can do is bite you and even that doesn't actually hurt.

There's a really cute picture out there of one of the rarer giant weta eating a carrot on a guy's hand.

I have to agree with my neighbour *waves at anna* from across the Tasman. Wetas are harmless, they just look really scary. New Zealand is a beautiful country and doesn't have that many dangerous animals, whereas we here in Australia have any number of poisonous spiders and snakes.
Heh...our fauna looks terrifying and is mostly harmless, some of your fauna looks harmless and can really bring the damage (even platypus is poisonous isn't it?). It's like some weird negative.

The exceptions in New Zealand being the katipo spider (which is rare) and the kea (which is a parrot and not poisonous but is fearfully bright and prone to destroying things to see how they work...things up to and including automobiles,tv aerials and lambs)
Yes, the platypus has a poisonous spur on it's back leg. It really does need some sort of defence, they're smaller than you'd think and very shy, although extraordinarily cute.
I want a weta, but my office mates say that if I get one, I am not allowed to bring it to work. Sillies. (I know I can't actually HAVE a weta; this does not change the wanting.)
I have the same want of a monkey, preferably a squirrel monkey or a marmoset.

Jhyanmar? WOO-HOO! Congrats, you!

(And I also hope you get all the way better soon... um, what respectful term of address do you prefer, O Glorious Host Who Will Smite Us All With Gengineered Plague Someday? O:> )
Thank you so much! I've never won an ARC before!

And I hope you get better soon!
