Never question the power of a grenade launcher and a push-up bra.

So yeah, I currently live in a cloud of existential doubt, waiting for Discount Armageddon to hit the shelves and all hell to break loose. This is pretty normal for me. And then lo and behold, Publishers Weekly decided to soothe my nerves with an awesome review. I quote:

"McGuire (the October Daye series) launches a new series with a fast, funny adventure involving cryptids (semimythical entities like Yeti and the Loch Ness Monster) and the researchers who love them. Cryptozoologist Verity Price belongs to a legendary clan of monster hunters who turned their back on the genocidal Covenant generations ago and now work to maintain a safe ecosystem for both cryptids and humans. Verity moves to New York to follow her other passion, ballroom dancing, but the arrival of a sexy Covenant agent—just as cryptids go missing across the city—disrupts her carefully balanced routine. Verity must join forces with her ancestral enemy to prevent Manhattan from being destroyed by the ancient power sleeping beneath it. Verity is a winning protagonist, and her snarky but loving observations on her world of bogeyman strip club owners, Japanese demon badger bartenders, and dragon princess waitresses make for a delightful read. Agent: Diana Fox, Fox Literary. (Mar.)"

Verity's a winning protagonist? Yeah, I'll take that. Also, I am crazy-excited to see this book on shelves, you have no idea.

It's almost real.

Looking forward to it! And, please, when it's released into the wild? DO post a reminder, please! It's a half hour's drive to the nearest bookstore, so I don't make the trek unless I know there's going to be something there to get. O:>
Um, have you met me? I have NEVER allowed a book release to go by unremarked. The greater danger is remarking too MUCH. And the release date is very clearly posted on my bibliography page.

Yay!
It was on my list so I get it when it comes out.

And since I have gotten Amazon Prime, and e-books are just as expensive as paperbacks, this will one will be hard copy that I can lend. Thanks for the reminder - I am off to preorder this one.

Since having a hard copy of Rosemary and Rue to lend has lead to several people who are constantly asking me when the next in the series will come out (them having bought all they could find since the loan), I am hoping I can hook them on this one too.
I like the way you think. :)

YAY!
I apologize if this has been answered elsewhere...but any chance of this coming out as an audiobook?
It hasn't been answered. Right now, there is nothing I can say. I'm totally in favor of audio books, but an audio book publisher has to buy the rights.

So hanging to read this book.
Yayz.
Aaand there's the pre-order in.
Yay!
Is it coming out as an ebook right away? And if so, do you mind if we get it that way? I am finding that I have become a serious convert to ebooks, and reading regular books is downright uncomfortable now. I can't adjust the font, I can't tweak the brightness, I have to remember to carry it around...
Amazon has the kindle edition available for pre-order, so I think the answer is "Yes." :-)

I am thoroughly excited for this, can't wait to read it!
Yay!
Can't wait to read it! I even listed it as a can't-wait on my writing/reading blog, which I won't link here to refrain from being tacky. I can email the link if you want it, though.

I also listed the last 2 Toby Daye books as favorites of 2011.
Hooray!
"Verity moves to New York to follow her other passion, ballroom dancing"

*BWA-HA-Ha-Ha-HA!!!* =8o>   OK, now you've got me.

N.B.: In a review of the work of almost any other author, that phrase would have been an instant turn-off. But from you? Now I wanna know exactly *how* you are gonna make me chuckle delightedly at a ballroom dancing scene. =:o}

Yes, that's what got me too (and I love the complete matter of fact way that review presented it as well).

[long time lurker delurks, as part of the whole "lurk no more" resolution]

Also, I am crazy-excited to see this book on shelves

So are we!
Yay!
I remain convinced that this book is the critical thingie I am lacking in my life. Oh yes. I am very excited.
The release date for this and Blackout were the first dates I put on my calendar this year. (Except for Melbourne Theatre Company show dates, and honestly, since this year's run doesn't have Geoffrey Rush playing Lady Bracknell, it's already not as good as last season.)
Aw, yay!
This and Blackout will make my life complete this year - but wait, is there Toby at the end of the year? There is? 2012 for the win, and it starts with Verity Price!

Yay!
Yay!
It's preordered!
Yay!
I know this is just another me too comment but I AM very much looking forward to reading it:)
This makes me glad. :)
Pre-ordered last Summer. I have been looking forwards to this for a while.
YAY.
I'm so excited for this spring! About a billion authors I LOVE have books coming out. SOME OF THEM (or, well, one, but one of the BEST LOVED) has two!
YAY!
oh goodie goddie goddie!
Hee yay.
Japanese demon badger bartenders? Rock on!
Yup!

An Artificial Night mentioned here as having one of the "covers which I feel do a pretty good job of conveying strong, capable female characters".

Cannot agree more.

Edited to close html.
Yes. :) It makes me happy.
