Comfort food is allowed to be weird.

Take four slices of bread, two tomatoes, ketchup, A-1 steak sauce (original), black pepper, and granulated garlic. Instructions are per sandwich.

Apply ketchup to the bread, thoroughly. I mean, you want to just goop it on there like you were trying to use it as a hair gel substitute in a high school production of Grease. Once your bread is all ketchup-ed up, apply A-1 sauce. Just puddle it on one piece of bread, and then stick the bread together to spread it.

Put the black pepper on one slice of bread. Put the granulated garlic on the other slice of bread.

Slice a tomato as thinly as possible, and stack on one slice of bread. Close the sandwich. Repeat with the second sandwich. Now eat as quickly as possible, as your condiments have already begun to consume the bread.

Does not travel well.

Definitely mugging for the recipe.
Ohyeah. They sent maybe 1/3 to 1/2 a cake's worth home with him (in little squares). They lasted...uh, two days, but only because I was trying to be good.

Seriously. Want. The recipe.
Can you beg? Or possibly bribe?
Scott has emails for them and has sent a request. I'm not sure how begging it was. But hopefully it will not be a big family secret and they will share it.

It came home with him because, of the rest of the group, one family had made it and had another identical cake at home, and the rest shouldn't have food like that (there's a diabetic child in one household, for example). But they inadvertently sent me lovely, lovely comfort food right when I needed it.

That was pretty cool. I told him to say that and offer lots of thanks for it as well as asking for the recipe. Fingers crossed that I get the recipe, though.
I should see about getting my cousin Victor's pumpkin gingerbread recipe. It was seriously to die for.
Ooo. *peers*

(And the nice lady with the recipe for the blueberry coffee cake has said she'll bring a copy to Monday's bible study session so Scott can bring it home to me. She rocks!)

Also, remember I mentioned Noah's bagels and Dreyer's, speaking of pumpkin?

...yeah. I have since managed to try both, and both are strictly pumpkin spice. I like pumpkin spice without pumpkin (I love the "pumpkin bread" from Haggen which has only been near a pumpkin when carried past the display of pumpkins near the front of the store, in months when there is one). And I don't like these. They are bland. Bland, bland, bland. (The bagels manage to be really bland, with pumpkin spice you can sorta detect; the ice cream is very pumpkin spice, bu that's all it is. It needs another flavor so you don't feel like you're just gnawing on a set of spiced ice fresh from the freezer.)
Thank you for taking this bullet for the team. It is greatly appreciated.

Also, ew.
Also, ew.

That pretty much covers it.

Your Northwest has a pumpkin fudge this year that actually has pumpkin on the ingredients list. It's...weird.
