Sunday has been cancelled on account of plague.

I had a great many plans for yesterday. In fact, I had two complete plan 'packages,' allowing me the choice of a) spending the day at the Sacramento Zoo with my mother, my sister (Melissa), my sister's wife (Mary), and my sister's three step-kids, or b) staying at home sipping faux-Mimosas -- Crystal Light orange mixed with Diet 7-Up, DON'T JUDGE ME -- while starting the end-to-end rewrite on Late Eclipses of the Sun and prepping the next few 'Velveteen vs.' stories.

Instead, I spent the day either a) face-down in the toilet, praying for the sweet embrace of death, b) face-down on my mattress, praying for the sweet embrace of death, c) passed out on the bathroom floor, praying for the sweet embrace of death, or d) at the urgent care, where they gave me IV fluids and scolded me for spending so much time unconscious before seeking medical care. Being as I don't have a car, and the buses on Sunday are practically non-existent, I bore my scolding with valiant disdain, and concluded by throwing up on one of the attending nurses. Sorry about that.

The zoo would have been a lot more fun.

In other news, all of my deadlines for the week have officially been pushed back two days on account of plague, which ate my Sunday and has turned Monday into 'invalid recovery zone' territory. I am keeping fluids down at this point, and may even risk such extravagant splurges as Saltines and a shower. Sometime. Soon. Not now, however, as my head is still full of angry weasels, and I'm still not sure I'm over that whole 'praying for death' thing.

Plague: much more fun to read about than it is to experience. Seriously.

A wish for you to feel better and as soon as possible.
Thank you.
I am extremely sorry about the illness suckage, and the fact that we were too far away to be of any help :(
It was so not the best weekend ever.
Aaaaack. Get well soon, you.
I'm feeling well enough to go to the office and breathe on people now, which is a nice change.
Crystal Light orange mixed with Diet 7-Up, DON'T JUDGE ME

...um, actually, that sounds good.

Okay, I'd probably go with orange juice instead of the Crystal Light as well as going for the full-force high-fructose corn syrup, but I'm decadent that way.
That much sugar would knock me flat for days. Or turn me into a hummingbird. Either way, not totally good.
Oh no! I hope you feel better soon...
I'm at least upright now. It's a lovely change.

Thank you. I feel worlds better.

And I appreciate that.
I'm glad you're OK now.
It was a scary Sunday.
Sympathies and best wishes to feel better soon. Perhaps it will inspire "Velveteen vs. the Martian Death Flu."
I don't think six pages of Velma throwing up would be all that entertaining. Then again, the Tick fought mucus...

Tigers take poorly to this behavior, dear, and I enjoy being unmauled.
oh no! I hope your system is back to normal as soon as possible. I don't recall if you can eat yogurt to help get the good intestinal bugs back on track too. Sending healing thoughts your way.

Yogurt, no, but pro-biotics, blessedly yes. All hail tiny bacteria pills!
I hope you feel all better soon! :/
Thank you.
I might have to try a faux-Mimosa sometime.
They're tasty. Also fizzy.
I hope you're better now. Dry crackers and lemonade for a few days, m-kay?

I actually did the same thing two days ago, but refused to get in the car to go to ER. It's my bowel obstruction and I'll stay home and bleed to death if I want to.
I figure once the passing out kicks in, the pride has to go. But I'm feeling way better now.

I have no idea how I found your journal but I saved your post on the books that changed your life and have been slowly finding them at the library. Today I perused your site a little and found out you must be near Sacramento to consider the zoo (but missed it due to the plague). I too live outside Sacramento!

All that long windedness to say I'm glad to have found a kindred spirit in Sacramento!
I'm actually up in the East Bay, near Mt. Diablo; I come to Sacramento once a month to meet with my high school D&D group (yes, we've been together more than a decade). But the Sacramento Zoo is so much better than the local zoos right now that it's the road trip destination of choice.
nope, didn't attend there. but we played against you in most of the sports. This is very twilight zone-y.
Twilight Zone-y, yes, but also super-funny. The Internet is much smaller than anybody thinks it is.
