Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween, everybody, and Happy New Year's Eve to those of you who share my particular calendar. May the Great Pumpkin smile upon you tonight, bringing you candles which burn brightly, candy that never goes stale, corn mazes as complicated as the twisting choices of the heart, and costumes that are inventive, interesting, and not solely founded on the idea that "slutty" and "spooky" are one and the same.

(Lo, if you choose to be Sexy Red Riding Hood or Smoking Hot Super Grover on this night, I salute you, because you're wearing a costume, and I don't question how other people want to celebrate this night of nights. But if you're doing it because you don't think you have a choice, or because you can't think of anything else, call upon the Great Pumpkin. He's the Squash. He'll hook you up.)

I spent last night with my mother and sister at the Pirates of Emerson Haunted House Park, where we demonstrated that sometimes money can buy happiness, since it was money that got us through the gates, and money that allowed us to spring for Speed Passes, thus bypassing the huge "night before Halloween, let's party at the haunted houses" lines. I also demonstrated my eerie spatial memory by tearing through the corn maze in less than ten minutes, trailed by a cluster of lost-looking thrill-seekers who had been wandering the maze for over an hour before I came through Walking With Purpose. Had I been one of the Children of the Corn trolling for victims, He Who Walks Behind the Rows would have eaten very, very well.

Today, my back is out, and so I'm wearing my Starfleet bathrobe (in Sciences blue) over slouchy jeans and an athletic shirt, representing the few, the proud, the bored Starfleet Academy graduate students. Give me replicator coffee or give me death.

Enjoy this holiday. The walls of the world are thin today, and whether your personal year turns tomorrow or two months from tomorrow, thank you for spending this year here, with me.

Trick or treat.

Merry Samhain :)
Thank you!

I'll take both.
"The walls of the world are thin today"

I was wondering why I keep hearing this constant loud bass beat. Man, I wish the neighbours in the next universe would find some more interesting music to play...

I think celebrating New Year at any time is appropriate. I have a tendency to alarm cow-orkers by saying "See you next year!" when going home on random Friday evenings. Or randomly when going home on Friday evenings, or some other permutation of the words.

/me tells your back not to stay out for long...
I adore this tendency.

Best. Pumpkins. EVER.

That's the music of the goddamn SPHERES, man.

Don't look at me like that. In OUR universe, God likes dubstep. *shrugs helplessly*
Your universe is weird, dude.

Thank you!
Happy Halloween!

Sadly, spending the weekend gaming and the month working on my dissertation means I just get to wear a fall shirt today, rather than a costume. (All my spare costumes are anime ones, and I wanted one for work that other people would have some idea what I was.)
That makes sense.

New Years was a few weeks ago, actually. But happy day to you, my dear.
I have bright neon orange toenail polish on today.

Yay!
Happy Pumpkin Day! I'm listening to Wicked Girls to celebrate. :)
Yay!
I was not allowed to wear a costume to work today. This makes me sad.
Wear a costume in your heart.

May the Great Pumpkin smile upon you as you see this year turn into the next.

Also, may your candy corn hat keep your ears warm as fall deepens into winter, though I understand winter is odd on your side of this land.
It's mostly just damp around here.

Yay Hallowe'en.

Today I am prancing around as Amy Pond, even though I have nowhere to go.
Dressing up as Amy Pond is its own reward.

Happy Halloween, Happy New Year to you as well!

I decided to go to work (as we're allowed to dress up even though we aren't retail) as a "Wicked Girl Saving Myself" this year. I'm wearing the black version of the t-shirt and black jeans, with turquoise nail paint and blue hair. Low key, but still a rocking costume, imho.
AWESOME.

This delights me.
Starfleet represent! I'm in my command gold dress with slacks on under it, since it's chilly today. (Also, I'm teaching freshmen, and I'm not about to show my students my gold hotpants.)
And a very Happy Halloween to you.
REPRESENTING!

Thank you!
Me, I'm waiting for the Solstice, and that's probably mostly because I live here in the north (and I'm already dreading February-March). But I'm not religious really... and besides, the Norse gods are pretty badass, so I'd go with them.

Always very happy to have you here with me, dear S. Have a lovely night, and a lovely new year!
I think waiting for the Solstice is a good plan. I would NOT want to risk cheesing off the All-Father.

Happy New Year, honey.

I wasn't going to dress up at all (except for orange socks), but Torrey made a poutyface at me, so I put on an orange tank top and a black overshirt and my ravens-and-crows necklace that Jenny made me which contains much purple and copper (orange) and a black rose in my ponytail and orange earrings.

Also: SPOOKY HALLOWEEN FISH! I think I have bred them all now. I need to check. Also started breeding with the skelly fish and the mummy fish and the zombie fish. I caved and made a whole spooky tank. :D

May it rain candy corn on you for as long as you wish it!
You think my poutyface is cute. Admit it.

Happy New Year!
Thank you!
Happy Samhain - to you and to October!
Thank you!
Happy Samhain, hallowe'en and Monday! I was a peacock for parties Saturday and tonight I'll be grumpy mom with headache watching Castle dammit! And hopefully I'll remember to pick up candy (not that we get kids really)...

May you have leftover peanut butter cups!
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, chocolate.
Much love and a happy new year to you.

I'm all for Rosh Hashanah, Halloween and Oshougatsu--you can never have too many fresh starts.
Agreed.
Blessed Samhain!

I'm hoping to talk my almost 13 year old into one more round of trick or treating. I just love walking my kids around on a fall night, seeing the costumes, talking them into giving me candy... ;)

Hope your back recovers swiftly!
Trick or treating is a blessing to be held as long as possible.
