Short story publication: "Uncle Sam."

I am very pleased to (somewhat belatedly) announce that I have sold a short story to The Edge of Propinquity, the very same electronic magazine which once upon a time published my Sparrow Hill Road serial (oh, let me tell you about Rose Marshall...). I'm so pleased to be a part of this publication again, even if it's only for a visit, and not for keeps.

So it is without further ado that I tell you to go forth and read about Uncle Sam, the founding of America, why girls go to the bathroom in groups, and how Chinese restaurants can save your life, if you let them.

"Uncle Sam."

Enjoy.

Awesome! Congrats!
I'm pleased. :)
Very creepy, you gave me a shiver.

Now please tell me you made it up.

That was creepy. Of course, it helps that my name's Tara. :-) Now, do you have a story for Uncle Sam's female counterpart, Columbia?
Not yet!

Ooooh, creepy.

Never was the kind of girl to go to the bathroom with an entourage, but then I'm not American.
That helps.
I'll have you know I thought about this story every time I went to the bathroom this weekend. Thankfully, the pub I was in did have the restrooms where everyone could see you enter.
Good!
Very nice.

Well, not nice, exactly. But good.

Um. It's a good story.
Thank you!
Wonderful! Of course, I'm neither American nor a woman so I'm immune, but I do wonder what you'd do with some of our British folklore, and /then/ I get worried...
That's probably for the best.

Oh, so creepy! I loved it! Also, will now check out bathroom locations in all restaurants.
Good plan.
That was, indeed, creepy.

Congratulations - out of all the horror I have read this month, only you have managed to creep me out.

YAY I WIN.

Only pee alone in Canada.
Creeeeepy!! Restaurant restrooms are going to make me mighty nervous from now on! I go by myself all the time...
Yay!
Thankfully, I'm on Canadian soil.

... but I'm a bit nervous now for whenever I do visit the US.
Wise.
That is gruesome. Why in heaven's name would anyone renegotiate with a dark angel!!!??? What happens to them when all the women are gone.....
There are an awful lot of women to go through. The people who made the bargain will be long, long dead by then.

Awesome.
Suddenly glad I'm Canadian!

That was a good story.
Thanks!
Oh, wonderful, says the American woman who lives alone. As if I didn't have enough problems with insomnia.
You're welcome.

Ooh, that was delightfully creepy.

And the artistry is that you do it so well in just a short story like that. I'm impressed.
Thanks!
I I think am going to be grabbing people to go to the bathroom with me now.

For some reason, I want to picture Angela occasionally hanging out in college with the group from The Box.
I could see that.
I'm going to be weirded out for the rest of the day now. Thank goodness I live in Australia. Yet ladies still visit the bathroom in groups down here, too.
It's safer.
I don't normally use the word "awesome" because I feel it is over used. Just this once, though, "awesome".

I've been enjoying the Rose Marshall series too - just finished El Viento del Diablo.
Oh, yay.
*whimpers* I just read that in my apartment. Where I live alone. And no one can see me. And I'm female.

Does it count if your cats can see you?
If it doesn't, I'm in trouble.

As if I wasn't afraid of going into public bathrooms enough. Seriously considering on bringing an entourage of female ninjas to escort me to the bathroom next time! That or I'll just hold it in and risk getting a kidney infection (LOL).

Also, the "She had to be peeing?" line made me laugh pretty hard.

Great job (as usual)!

Thanks!
