HAIL FROGLORD! KING OF ALL AMPHIBIANS!

So we survived another iteration of the Traveling Circus and Snake-Handling Show (always a risky proposition, what with all those snakes), and now it's time to get back to normal, everyday life. Naturally, for me, this means "now it's time to start packing for Michigan." Because nothing says "restful" like jetting straight off to another convention, right? Right?!

Ahem. A few snapshot statuses, for the interested and alert:

"Wicked Girls" shirts.
Yes! They have arrived! Well...mostly. It turns out the shirt shop was out of certain size/style combinations, so my order was short about fifty shirts, which will be coming along later. How are we finding out which size/style combinations are missing? By trying to pack orders and being unable to find the associated shirts. Naturally. So shipping is being a little bit odd at the moment, and I'm filling as many complete orders as I possibly can. Feel free to email the merchandise address (the Gmail.com account that contacted you for shipping and payment) if you have questions about your specific order, or need to update your address in any way.

Ashes of Honor progress.
I now have approximately 86,000 words written on Ashes of Honor, which means I'm on target to finish my first, deeply flawed draft of the book by the end of October. At which point, the flensing will begin. The flensing has already begun, on a localized level, but the deep flense requires a wider audience. I'm actually pretty happy with the shape of this book. I finally got to bring back a lot of the cast from A Local Habitation, some questions are getting answered, and Toby eats Pop-Tarts. Life is good.

Discount Armageddon approaches.
According to my planner countdown, Discount Armageddon will be released in one hundred and fifty-five days. But, you know. No pressure or anything. I am deeply excited and deeply terrified, and getting ready to rearrange things on my website to make the InCryptid section easier to find and navigate. This means the Field Guide will also be going totally live. You, too, can live in fear of the Apraxis Wasps.

Zombies.
Are love.

Albino banana slug.
ALBINO BANANA SLUG!!!!!! He's like vanilla soft serve with eyes, and I want to love him forever, even though this picture was taken a year ago and so he's probably been eaten by an owl by now. (I know slugs are hermaphrodites. I don't care. I want to name this particular slug "Geoff," and have grand adventures with him. He is my beloved squishy friend.)

HAIL FROGLORD!
This Questionable Content strip speaks to the depths of my soul.

And that's me. What's new with you?

I dearly loved catching and playing with frogs and toads when I was a kid. I still adore the toads that live in my yard even though my frog hunting days are over.
Picturesque speech:
Down South, a sudden heavy rain is called a "frog baptizer".
:)
In my part of Texas, it's a "frog strangler".

Zombies are indeed love. Slow moving, rotting, soul-infesting love.
Precisely so.
Yes! Hail the FrogLord!
LORD OF AMPHIBIANS.
Said QC made me think of you this morning. :) I would feel rather like Marigold, should you present me with a giant frog.
I would understand that reaction.
Froggie!!
As for what's new in Misha-land, I finally quit my job and am now happily in search of something new.
Yay!
Loved the bit of Discount Armageddon that you read on Sat! Had to wonder if Sarah's last name was Tapper though ;-)
Zellaby.
I wish we had time to get "All Hail Froglord" ribbons printed in time for Conclave.

What's new? My latest play ("Long Day's Journey Into Night") finished its run Saturday and we struck the set yesterday, so the next few days are for recovery. Definitely looking forward to Conclave this weekend. :)
Oh, how'd that go? You were saying it was going to prove interesting for the monologues.

Regarding the Wicked Girls t-shirt order-- I just realized that the email address associated with my order is no longer functional (and so I don't have access to the gmail account to fix it). How to fix? Need it be fixed?
If the mailing address is fine, then no, there's no need to fix. You're good.

"He's like vanilla soft serve with eyes..."

That's sort of like how I feel about moths after watching my cat devour one. I figure to cats, moths are like jelly doughnuts: powdery on the outside, but with gooey center.
I can roll with that.
You've probably not read my latest post (Yes, I posted. Really.), but in short: I'm getting my life in order. And I have plans. And I've never been happier, I don't think. Also, I've managed to find you a fan, I think; he's about to start chapter 12 of Rosemary and Rue and he seems to like it a whole lot. I've firmly told him: no peeking. ;-)

I was planning on lending the Toby books to a couple of friends of mine as well, but our scheduling haven't panned out thus far...
I am very pleased with your life, and very proud in an abstract "this is you, and I am happy to see you happy" sort of way.
As a Geoff I am unsure about the whole naming a slug thing. It makes me worried.
That's totally fair.
Frosty the albinobananaslug was a happy, jolly soul....

*ducks*

I am fine getting my shirt whenever the fates deem it appropriate. If mine was in the missing 50, it would fit *right* in with everything else going on around here lately. No worries.

As far as Froglord goes? I did that with both mice AND toads to my Mom. And I was just out in that neighborhood Saturday, so got a trip down memory lane.

"Look Jim, there's the yard where the coyote came to visit!"

And yes, I'm the Mom who took a golden orb spider the size of a kumquat to kid's school for show and tell last Friday. *chuffs*
Awesome.

Good show, you.

BEST ANSWER EVER.
After clicking on the albino banana slug link I was all "Oh, how cute!"

My (male) coworker came around the corner thinking I was looking at kittens or something. Took one look at the slug, let out a very girly little yippy sound and hightailed it away.

*Note to self - Must print out and post on wall to keep nosy coworker away*

I endorse this note.
MY DAY IS MADE OF AWESOME. I BOUGHT YERSINIA PESTIS FOR MY HUSBAND BECAUSE IT IS HIS FAVORITE AND MY FLESH-EATING BACTERIA DOES NEED A FRIEND. I think I will buy tuberculosis next. Or maybe polio. He looks so startled at life.

I also found a fuggin' crocheted AT-AT and I want to have it and cuddle it and all of its full of beans and soft squishy materials goodness.

Bandit the Maine Coon has discovered why we have glass tables in the house. They are, of course, perfect for falling off of and skiing on. This is his new favorite thing. My mythology reference books are suffering from this knowledge.
...sidenote, a friend (and by friend, I mean someone who actually knows what to do with knitting needles and crochet hooks OTHER than stab herself with them and pretend to sword fight with her other hand) found a patter for a similar AT-AT. I GONNA HAS. That is all.

Only 155 days until Discount Armageddon is released and only 170 something days until football season starts again. If I time this right I could be reading Discount Armageddon at about the same time as I'm watching my beloved Richmond Tigers lose yet again the opening game for the season. Joy!
Yaaaay!
'Questionable Content' was adorable - but I kind of had a Hanilore moment when the frog was produced. I love amphibians .... but prefer to stay much cleaner. [Not so much a germiphobe as just obsessively squicked by grime.]

... so zombie may be love, but they need to be kept clean as much as possible. [In refereeing D&D, one redeemed-from-evil necromancer NPC is now promoting 'Zombies for a better tomorrow' - voluntarily offered bodies that get zombiefied and used for public works - like sewer cleaning - and a portion of the wages paid are returned to the family. Vryxnyr is a very odd fellow that the PCs really don't know what to do with.]
I understand the urge for clean.
I'm so surprised no one has linked you to this yet.

It's not running through a cornfield, and it's zombies rather than machete-wielding psychos, but it's gotta be the next best thing.
Actually, EVERYONE has linked me to it. But it's not where I am, so I sulk a lot.

My elder son is looking forward to your InCryptid books. He says they sound like the television show "Secret Saturdays," but done right.
High endorsement!
When I was a wee child of 4-ish, I came home from an afternoon of playing with my friend Sydney. He had GI Joes which had WAAAY better stuff than Barbies did.

My mother asked me what I had done that afternoon. I announced with great glee "Sydney and I buried a frog!", and that was that.

Apparently later that night, my mother had this exchange with her mother over the phone.

G: And what did Wendy do today?
M: She said that she and Sydney buried a frog.
G: *long pause* Was it dead yet?
M: I didn't ask.
WIN.
What's new with me? Chemo wrecked my immune system and I managed to get a rare skin disorder that causes scales and blisters. And if you ask Lysystratae, my bff and ex wife, she will tell you that this is nothing new for me. My friends call me Job.

sigh
Ow. :(
I saw the Questionable Content and immediately thought of you.

Specifically, thought of you and MANTOR.
MANTOR, DESTROYER OF WORLDS!!!!!!
I was teaching my students the other day about how pop culture is reflective of current events... which, in my second class of the day, led to a twenty-minute(ish) discussion of the cultural significance of zombies. It was basically amazing.

Also, it's Homecoming Week. Yay, dress up!!!

Yay!
Whee! I just preordered Discount Armageddon! 155 days to go!
Yay!
