So I am considering—not yet wedded to, but considering—re-releasing Stars Fall Home, since it's currently all out of print and stuff, and that's no fun. But being me, I'm not willing to do this if I don't feel that I am in some way improving things with a re-release. This means a) that I will probably re-record "Sycamore Tree," to resolve some issues I have with the vocals, and b) include at least one new song, for the sake of, you know, making my lizard brain not freak out about spending time on something I've already done.
The hanging tree. I love this song so much I've had the words memorized since high school. I quote this song at people in fragments when I'm sober, in it's entirety when drunk. It's very dear to my heart.
Well, I'm pretty sure I'd buy the album again for *any* song you might add, but since I've only managed to see you perform once, I'm pretty sure every song I've ever heard you sing is on one your albums already, so my opinion is based purely on lyrics.
That said, I'd love to hear "Come Away" or "Gaming" or... really anything about fairies. I like the kinds of fairies with lots of sharp edges. ::sheepish::
Just looking at the first page (because I don't have time to look at the whole songbook right now), I'd like to hear "About a Girl". I haven't heard Stars Fall Home (so I don't know the theme very well) but I love hearing positive portrayal of GLBTQ themes from songs. I can't say I know too many songs sung by a woman about a woman. Even if it is unrequited love. (I have songs by...two artists? on my entire iTunes list.)
I already have Stars Fall Home but I would totally buy a new edition. I would love it if you could put Persephone at the Soda Fountain to music. It's my favorite of your poems and the world needs more Persephone/Hades songs. "Riddler's Bride" is a good song, it reminds me of "Scarborough Fair."
I would really like to see (hear?) Showdown recorded, because The Strange Adventures of Rangergirl is an awesome, idiosyncratic book and I think you captured the essence of it.
The Firebird Has No Tears (http://seananmcguire.com/songbook.php?id=302) has a certain thematic fit... Or anti-fit. (Although I do not know if you count it as parallel evolution or parody, for it echos "The Phoenix" by Cynthia McQuillin (yes, I memorized that song like fifteen years ago or more and sang it to my kid as a lullaby; it and The Horse-Tamer's Daughter... >_> ).)
I'd like to hear "Over and Over" for the very selfish reason of wanting to play it at my wedding reception.

I think that In Glory and In Thunder follows the theme of both going past what you believe your furthest horizon to be ("We have to learn to seek the stars./It doesn't mean we'll never move/Beyond the things we've yet to prove.") and finding healing in places that aren't exactly traditional ("Where the pathway to redemption/Means we bid the ground goodbye"). On a more personal note, it is one of your works that resonates deepest with me (and even on a day when I'm not out of words, I can't do anything but point at it and go "That. Just...read it.")
I won't recorded "Babylon Variations"; it would seem too much like I was trying to force all the non-filker Toby fans to buy the album. But thank you for the suggestion.
I really, really want to suggest Continental Divide. I think it would fit decently with the tone of the rest of the album, and I know from having heard it performed that it's GORGEOUS.

I'm going to second Beth's suggestion of 'Babylon Variations' because I feel like SFH explores the many sides of Seanan - RPer ('Paper Moon', 'Sycamore Tree'), fangirl ('Evil Laugh', 'Country Song'), the Babylon Wood ('Earthquake Weather'), comic fan ('Four-Color Love'), and cover girl (as it were) ('Still Catch the Tide') - and 'Babylon Variations' would be a great addition for writer!Seanan.

I can't really pick a song because there are too many of yours I want to hear, but can say I would definatlty buy at least one copy - because after you sold out my middle sister told me she wanted a copy because Kitsune Girl is her favorite song of yours and depending on what my finances are looking like if I can justify buying another copy for myself for the extras I probably will.

Blow Ye Winds, probably a very dark horse contender. I like it, and the one I've been pining for, well, first, all I remember is that it's Drusilla's song, so I can't even tell you its name, and I think it falls under "horror" and is thus not valid.
I like the song. I like the imagery. I like the music. I like that it was written before the third movie came out.
I find myself with two choices and can't bring myself to pick between the two.

The defense: There's a certain progression on Stars Fall Home -- "Paper Moon" and "Dorothy" show us how stories begin, "Four-Color Love" and "Downhome Aphrodite" show us the shapes of the stories they describe, and "Earthquake Weather" and "Still Catch the Tide" are both, in some ways, about the ends of stories. "When the Gods Dare to Believe" takes all these threads and weaves them into a climax; it seems to me a very nearly perfect final track. And its chorus? Always, but always, makes me go all misty-eyed whenever I see it.
Okay, I know I already voted above, but I have to second this; I'd forgotten entirely about that song, but as soon as I saw the title mentioned, the words got stuck in my head again.
I have not actually had the pleasure of hearing you sing in person, at least, not formally. So I don't actually know anything from your songbook except those songs actually on albums I own! Which makes me uniquely unqualified to answer this question. I'd love to hear more songs of the Monarchs of the Seasons, but I'm not quite sure Monarch songs fit the tone of "Stars Fall Home", which feels like a dimly-lit album about humans flirting on the edge of the supernatural, rather than the whole-hearted fictional huzzah that is Wicked Girls. If that makes any sense...
Out of Season-Because Harry deserves to tell his side of the story. It would balance Sycamore Tree out well, I think.
Or Continental Divide. Mostly just 'cause I love the rough mp3 I have of it. Though I'm thinking you could probably do a whole album of Healy songs. ;-)
