ONE SALT SEA open thread!

To celebrate the release of One Salt Sea, here. Have an open thread to discuss the book.

THERE WILL BE SPOILERS.

Seriously. If anyone comments here at all, THERE WILL BE SPOILERS. So please don't read and then yell at me because you encountered spoilers. You were warned.

You can also start a book discussion at my website forums, with less need to be concerned that I will see everything you say! In case you wanted, you know, discussion free of authorial influence.

Have fun!

These two parts:

“Not even the High King could go easy on me now. Could he?” None of us said anything. Fury contorted her face as she turned to aim her bow at Quentin, shouting, “Could he?!”

“No,” Quentin said. I shifted to get a look at him. He was standing with his chin up and his shoulders squared, staring down the length of his nose at Raysel. “But he could show clemency. You didn’t mean to kill the Selkie. You could be granted a sentence other than death.”

and

“War,” I said, and closed my eyes for a moment, willing myself not to cry. “This is why it’s bad, Raj. Remember this, for when you’re King someday. People get hurt.”

“I’ll remember,” whispered Raj.

“So will I,” said Quentin.
Oh, very nice supports. Didn't even notice those. Thank you!

I was probably subconsciously assuming Quentin had Schrödinger's Parents, to be determined when it became necessary for the plot. But between this and some of the others, it does seem that he's got, instead, carefully-laid hints.

Or else maybe those are red herrings and actually he's Toby's brother. *ducks, runs*
OK, I think "Schrödinger's Parents" is now my new favorite phrase!
Feel free to abscond with it to your heart's (or hearts', if you be a Time Lord) delight. O:>
I know who his parents are; I have always known.

Someday, you will know, too.
Looking forward to it!!!
Can't wait! I just hope they can appreciate what Toby's teaching their son. And I really hope it wasn't his parents that taught him the lesson about purebloods needing to keep changelings in line that he was quoting in the first book.
You know everyone's parentage. People should remember this.

And one day I would like to see the family tree(s).
