The tide's coming in tomorrow. A few bits and pieces.

Tomorrow is the release of One Salt Sea. Tomorrow. It's being spotted in the wild; I couldn't take this book back if I wanted to. And to be quite honest, I don't want to. I'm excited as all hell to know that you're about to have the chance to read it. I hope you will. And because I am a blonde who is disturbingly fond of feeding her cats, I hope you'll buy it, too, and enjoy it as much as I enjoy knowing that it's out there.

I am currently working on Ashes of Honor, and am literally making this post to free up some tabs. So here, have some links:

Book Banter is doing a giveaway, in which you can win a copy of One Salt Sea. I love the gang at Book Banter. They are awesomesauce. So enter, and win!

Sara Anne, who I found through Twitter, has an excellent post on why official publication dates matter, and hence why authors get a little sniffly when people talk about finding their books early. I would really, truly love to make the NYT again with this book. I would love to make the print list even more, since that would mean I'd have something to frame. If I make the print list, I will do a giveaway the likes of which has never before been seen. Just saying.

And look! One Salt Sea is a Night Owl Reviews Top Pick! Hooray! I'm totally thrilled, because this is totally awesome. Hooray for good reviews!

See you tomorrow!

on the subject of cats, i saw the two links in here: http://tisiphone.livejournal.com/2017871.html and thought you'd get a good giggle out of both :)

edit: ah, i didnt realise the second link was you (and that they're both from 2004) -sorry!
I'm getting the impression, poking about, that we're not supposed to know that. It seems more . . . personal over there.

Plotting to go pick it up this coming week!
Yay!
I really, really wish I could wait even longer to buy from Borderland's or Dark Carnival, but I'm afraid I need to get a copy tomorrow or you'll be scraping me off the ceiling with antici----pation. Or wait, will Berkshire on Clayton Road be carrying it? I think they're the last indie seller left standing in the area.
Probably not. :( They don't do new books. On the other hand, there's something to be said for B&N, since they account for a huge percentage of my sales, and I like to keep them happy.
I'm making sure I go out and buy it tomorrow! ^_^ and here's rooting for you making NYT.

Thank you!
Planning on having grabbing it for the nook tomorrow, which could mean 12:01 am, if I'm lucky. Very excited!

Also, yay for Stabbing Westward. They are one of my favorite bands.
Sorry about the editing fail there.

Yay, book release! It's nice things that make returning to the work week easier. :)
Good.
Will buy ebook as soon as my favored dealer has it (hopefully tomorrow morning before work), and then will buy signed book at Dark Carnival this week.

Just helping with this NYT Best seller list thing :-)
Yay!
I am on call for work next week.

I plan to snag this book on my way home tomorrow. Reading is a great way to spend time when on call (and thus always close to home). Even better when it's a book I've been waiting for this eagerly!

I am always sad-sad-sad when I see one of your books early, 'cause I really want to buy it and yet I refuse. So this time I refused to even set foot in a bookstore the last week (not too hard, I was busy anyway). No risk of temptation. But tomorrow? Tomorrow is SO fair game.
Awesomesauce.
Worlds Biggest Bookstore, in Toronto has copies listed early. It also has Wayseeker also due out on the 6th. I could have found a reason to go down town but I didn't. We will be buying e-books of both tomorrow. I used to look and buy ahead of time. I try very hard not to anymore. Of course since e-books aren't out early that resolve will get easier and easier. (G)
Thank you. :)
Off to Forbidden Planet to get it tomorrow!

And this, for sheer silliness:

(Cats + French, doublewordscore.)
Hee, yay.
For those of us outside the US, does buying on a book website, such as the bookdepository.co.uk count? I'd very much like to help you achieve your aims, fame, fortune and world dominion, but it's not always clear how one becomes a minion?
Buy it however you can get it. :) Book websites are aces.
Very interesting about the official book release dates. So no buying a book early. Good to know. Hopefully will get it tomorrow.
I say it every time I have a book coming out, along with "please don't tell me if you see the book early."
Looks like I'll be making a Borderlands run tomorrow :)
Yay!

I am honored.
It may take a week or more (hopefully not) to find it's way down to the wilds of Melbourne, but I'll be picking it up the moment I see a copy out here. I got the shop's last copy of Late Eclipses last time and the owner remarked that he wished he'd ordered more because of the author's popularity.
Okay, that rules.

Um, Amazon just delivered my ebook of One Salt Sea about an hour ago. I suspect they're doing that with all the pre-orders. Is this bad or is today close enough to the actual release date that it'll count?

Edited to correct spelling.
It happens on occasion but I doubt it's counted against anything, because Amazon times their release-day shipments pretty carefully and they're usually right. According to THEIR paperwork, the book dropped on the correct date. If the carrier goes and gets super speedy with it, I'd bet that's just kind of on the carrier. Early delivery is definitely not happening with all the One Salt Sea pre-orders, either; I didn't get mine early, for instance. Amazon has a lot of distribution centers and a lot of different carriers -- sometimes I get my stuff USPS, sometimes FedEx, sometimes UPS (they're handling my One Salt Sea order, which shipped on Saturday for a Tuesday arrival), sometimes ONTRAC, you name it. It would be impossible for most people in the States to get this early since it's Labor Day, and most services aren't making deliveries today, so you may have just had a random fluke.

(disclaimer: I'm just making my best guess here about how Amazon sales get recorded, but I do suspect that if a retailer as big as Amazon was screwing up embargo dates en masse, we'd have heard about it by now.)

My Kindle version just arrived too! But I'm buying a paperback copy tomorrow from my local indie, and then saving it to read on my flight to London end of next week. One of my friends won one of the ARCs, though, and she's really, really tempting me to read it before I fly....we'll see whether I hold out.
Be strong!

I want you to make the list! Even though I devoured my ARC ages ago, I'm still going to my local independent skiffy bookseller tomorrow after work and buying me an Official Release Copy. :) Such a great book.
It's so weird that it's been two years. Thank you for being here.

Yay.
I'm waiting impatiently for the delivery tomorrow. :)

(I have to say, I was awfully happy the other day when I realized my new job (!) is still within walking distance of a University Bookstore branch. Indie bookstore purchasing binges shall recommence shortly....)
Oh, yay!
Going to the bookstore on release day as usual - and remembering that Birthday Gifts and Christmas Gifts and such can be bought far ahead of actual birthdays and holidays....
*buys* :D
Yay!
I can't believe I'm actually going to be in the vicinity of a bookstore on the same day as your release! Wonders never cease to amaze me. Here's hoping the B&N in Fort Collins or the one in Loveland have at least two copies (because if I don't pick one up for the college kid, too, she'll hate me).

Yay! New Toby!!
Woo!
Sorry to mess up your post but I reviewed your first four October Daye books for Night Owl and gave them 5 stars. So you have been a top pick from the beginning! :) I am going out today to get One Salt Sea, can't wait to sit down and devour it! Have a wonderful day!!
