On the road again...

Having just returned home from Reno, Land of Cigarette Smoke and Strobe Lighting, I am now preparing to board a big metal skybird and soar away on wings of science to scenic Columbus, Ohio, where I will be appearing at Context as their Horror Guest of Honor. Well. Mira will, anyway, and since she doesn't have a legal photo ID, she has to let me come. Ha ha, evil twin. Ha ha.

I am, perhaps, a little less excited about the idea of taking another road trip than I could be; last night, my dreams centered almost entirely on my having forgotten to buy a plane ticket to England, and being forced to run hither and yon in an attempt to make it to the airport before I missed my flight. Parts of the dream actually took place in England, with a strong undercurrent of "if you miss your flight, you won't have been here, and the ensuing paradox will destroy the world." Because I'm not overly inclined to take responsibility for things or anything...

The cats are not entirely happy about seeing the suitcases come out again. And by "not entirely happy," I mean "they have transformed into an unstoppable feline murder squad." If I stop posting and no one knows what happened to me, the cats will have removed all the bits I use to do things other than catering to cats. I will probably deserve it. I will, after all, have left them again. (Thankfully, after this, I have no more long trips away from home until December. A few weekends, but nothing longer than that. This may be what saves my life.)

If you're in the Ohio area, Context is going to be amazing and fun, and I would really love to see you there. I fully intend to be so amped-up on sugar that I can't see my toes for at least twenty-four hours, which is always a good time, for everyone involved. And I can sleep on the plane. Which is a wonderful thing, to be sure.

Here I come, Ohio. And I am demanding frozen treats.

So close and still so far. Oh Well.
Have Fun!
Thanks!
So wish we could be there, but cannot yet ransom our suitcases from feline control after Musecon trip. Hope you have a wonderful time and that you again escape their furry clutches for OVFF, which we can, I believe, attend.
Enjoy!
I am hoping to be there!
Have fun! I went to Origins in Columbus a couple of years ago and it's a pretty place. And so clean! We were all so impressed at how clean it was you'd think we'd all escaped from some industrial wasteland.
This makes me worried for other cities.

It'll be great to be back at ConText, and extra great to see you. :)
Love the Tom.
Safe journeys, and I hope you have a blast!
Thanks!
Have a wonderful time. Get good sleep and find marvelous frozen things, and hopefully early-season pumpkin parfaits at the enormous Whole Foods.

<3
I ate ice cream!
I had no idea we had so many cons; Marcon, OVFF, and Context.

And you're going to need those frozen treats (unless we end up Hurricane Irene leftovers and it rains the whole time). The weather finally realized it's August and cranked the heat back up.

It was hot yesterday but it was wonderful today. And watching the Weather Channel it's suppose to be wonderful all weekend low to mid 80s all weekend and 60s at night. Awesome sleeping weather!

I was seriously thinking about going to Context until my car decided to stop dead in its tracks in one of the drive ways into the Polaris shopping mall last Tuesday night. Thankfully it is not "dead" dead but may be reanimated tomorrow. I'm just hoping that it doesn't cost a small country's GDP to do it.

Sounds like we'd better arrange for some emergency Jeni's.
I was going to be sad that Context isn't particularly near the North Market ... but I'm glad you're on it. ;)

If we weren't already planning a trip to Cinci next weekend, I would totally be there. It sounds like it's going to be a blast, but the cash flow is low so have fun!
You were missed!
That's the closest you've come to my hilltop in West Va, but I am just not well enough to travel yet. Stoopid tumors. Ah, well, have lots of fun and come back to this coast when I have beaten this thing!
I love West Virginia.
I look forward to seeing you at Context! Hooray!
You were a highlight of the con.

Such love.

Perhaps no one else has pointed this one out yet (for the IZ NOTHING SACRED file:

In any case, hide it from the felines, since they are already disgruntled.
So going to try to be there since I only live a few hours away!
Yay. :)
Gee the dust doesn't even get to settle on your feet. Have fun and be safe.
I get to stop and breathe now.

Woe. :(

That sounds like reason to attend Context in and of itself.
It was AWESOME.
Cats are so very good at guilt-tripping their Humans. My cat* was not happy that I was leaving her, again. I'm a college student. She got me home for three months, and now I'm back on campus for four-ish. My mother and I were actually discussing how when I graduate, I'm probably going to have to bring Mischief to any apartment I get and hope that Chaos (my mother's cat) can adjust. Mischief will never forgive me if I stop staying overnight with her so that she can cuddle.

Which is all a roundabout way of saying, I feel really guilty for leaving my cat behind every semester after I come home for a while.

*My family has two cats, but one of them is very attached to my mother, and the other one is very attached to me.
I understand your guilt.
I really, really wish I could be at Context this year! Alas...
Alas. :(
I will SO try to get there Saturday. My need to pick up more hours at work, and especially the 5 hours Saturday, may take a back seat to my squee.
Understandable.
For frozen treats in Columbus, I recommend Blue Moo Cookie Dough ice cream by United Dairy Farmers. I really wish I weren't missing Context this year. Have fun!
I <3 Jeni's.
I was visiting parents yesterday and saw a copy of Feed on my stepmother's bookshelf, which made me bounce.
Yay!
I have a copy of One Salt Sea IN MY HANDS!!!! *cries* and I can't buy it yet because Baker&Taylor sent it early. (evol bookseller) The BookGoddess is very particular about release dates, so rest assured that the sale will go on the correct date! I will try very hard to keep myself from reading it before I can buy it. (I may need to distract myself with some cake or something)
Bad bookseller.

Good bookstore!
