Toby and the Shoes: A bit of silliness.

I was asked to write a fragment involving a) Toby and b) a traditional folk or fairy tale for the blog Dark Faerie Tales. Being the easily amused soul that I am, I obliged by combining Toby Daye with the tale of Katie Crackernuts. You can read the original post here, and enter to win a Toby book by leaving a comment.

Unfortunately, somehow, the way the text was posted stripped out the special characters, like quotation marks. So I am posting it again here, for your amusement and edification. Free Toby past the cut-tag!

Click here for antic silliness, Tybalt, and Toby hating her footwear. Again.Collapse )

TOBY!!
And Tybalt.. ah, I do so enjoy their banter. :)
Yay.
Aw damn. Couldn't she have teleported into a different park in the middle of night and collided with Paul McGann's Doctor?

"You know, I'm *so* happy that you're so happy about your new shoes, but could we now concentrate in getting me out of mine? And quit looking daggers at me, Doctor Lady! I didn't *ask* to be the gooseberry here..."

=:o}

In other news: This was fun! Especially "the traditional method". =:o}
*snicker*

Glad you approved.
This was a fantastic read with which to start the day! Thank you!
Very welcome.
Great story. I love that Tybalt dances with her. I'm betting it was the Queen who sent her the shoes. The idea of a changeling dancing herself to death would appeal to her sense of tradition and propriety, in a strange, screwed up way.
Sad but true.
So wonderful! I would have been nice if Tybalt had made her wait and waltz with him longer. I love Toby and Tybalt stories!
Yay!
One nice thing about working from a home office is having the ability to laugh out loud, repeatedly, without receiving Looks. :)
Oh, good.
Heee!

Totally.
Thank you for some pre-mammogram Toby *chuckle*
Very welcome.

I accept that blame.
Great. Enchanted, malicious shoes with fixed ideas about gender roles.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I love it.
:D

You are very welcome.
This was the perfect end to a stressful day. Laughter is awesome.
Yay!
That was fun. I hadn't realized how many varieties of shoe stories there were.
Yeah, they're surprisingly common.
Lovely, lovely. I just hope this isn't the last we see of Tybalt until next book.

Any chance Mary Robinette Kowal would record this and post it?
Probably not, because I don't pay her, and it's not enough for Brilliance to publish. But it's a cute idea!
