Listen to this! No, really. Listen. Like, with a pair of headphones or something.

So after hoping and praying and telling people to write to Brilliance Audio instead of writing to me, I am absolutely overjoyed to be able to announce that the audio book rights for Late Eclipses and One Salt Sea have been sold. Here are some Amazon links, in case you don't feel like looking for them yourself:

Late Eclipses, the audio book.
One Salt Sea, the audio book.

I am so happy right now. I know that the lack of audio books for book four has been a big deal for people with vision problems, or who like to listen to books while they drive, or who just prefer things in an audio format. Being able to make those readers happy makes me happy.

And now is where I turn to you, or at least those segments of the greater "you" who asked for these editions, and I say: Please, buy these. Brilliance Audio has been wonderful, and the letters you wrote expressing a desire for these books is what enabled them to go back into the studio and make the books happen. But the sales need to be strong if we want them to continue the series; this is not the same as my contract with DAW, and does not have a one-to-one guarantee.

The unabridged audio book of One Salt Sea in MP3 form on a single CD is less than eleven dollars on Amazon right now. If you are one of the people who asked for these audio books, and have an interest in seeing Toby's adventures continue in this format, please, order a copy. This is how we make them keep letting us have nice things.

Audio books!

Wow, eleven dollars for an unabridged audiobook? Prices have gone down since the last time I looked at them which was like 2002 or something.

Venders like emusic and audible have really made a difference given that it allows for a subscription of that kind of price. They obviously save on the physical costs of CDs and distrubition.

Edit having said that the prices for these MP3 CDs are very affordable. Hope the UK price isn't too high.

Woo hoo! I'm so pleased, I love to read but listening to the books is so much better. Truly awesome news Seanan!
And they come out on my birthday too! Best. Present. Ever!

Yay! Also, anyone on Emusic, please consider writing them to add the Toby books. I got my "Feed" and "Deadline" audiobooks there, but they have yet to add our favorite changeling's tales.
Nice tip.
Squee!!! I've been hoping for this - pre-ordered both!
Awesome!

Hooray!
This is great news - I have partial vision and so these inexpensive audio books are a lifeline when my eyes give out; plus many urban fantasies make great in-car fare.
Oh, that's fabulous.
that's awesome!
I'm thrilled.

Do you know if audible will be stocking this as I have credit with them....
I'm gonna stick my nose in here and say that Seanan most likely cannot answer that, as she's not directly involved in either the production or distribution of the audiobooks.

I'd keep checking, though. They're not yet on iTunes either, but the first three are; I'm guessing maybe once they go from "pre-order" to "order" on Amazon, they'll likely be at other stores as well.

I can't wait to listen to these! I'll buy as soon as I am able. Thank you!
Yay!
Bought! That's so awesome.
I have the glee. :)
Yay, now maybe my partner will consume the Toby books so I can talk about them with hir! (Sie doesn't read many print books, but has commutes to listen to things on...)
That would be aces!
Putting in a request for our library system to purchase...
Yay! I feel like I actually got to help change the world for the better. ^ v ^

Yeah, it's not world peace or reversing global warming, but, with one more good thing in the world, the rest can sting less.
Yay. :)
Being able to make those readers happy makes me happy.

I view Happy Seanan as a good thing too.
Yay. :)

Yay!!! I've been listening to the first three on the weekends as I do my cross-stitch. I think I've got them all memorized by now, and Toby's speech patterns infect my own (in a good way) for a few hours afterward. :-) I love Mary Robinette's voices saying your words.

ETA: I just pre-ordered both!
awesome! and shared with my friend who has been waiting for this!
Yay!
So who is doing the reading?

Never mind - I found the publishers page

http://reseller.brillianceaudio.com/productsbyauthor.asp?AuthorId=1374&recnum=0

with audio samples!

The readings are by Mary Robinette Kowal and the sample of An Artificial Night I just heard was beautifully done. She does a very subtle Irish accent for Luna. I'm Irish and I can tell you the accent is very well done.
Glad you found it!
I'll buy them the instant they hit Audible (and I'll make sure to reivew/star them as well)
Oh, thank you!
Awesome! Will pre-order right away! Thanks for making my day!
Yay! Thank you!
Does preordering One Salt Sea on audiobook count towards lists?
Toward the audiobook lists, yes. And it makes my audiobook publisher happy, so I say go for it. :)
