When will you rise? COUNTDOWN available now.

Some of you may remember that I did a series of blog posts "counting down" to the release of Deadline, chronicling the days leading up to the Rising of 2014. Some of you may remember asking me whether there would ever be a collected edition. And, well. Some of you may remember getting my standard "I can't say anything right now" reply of "LOOK! A BUNNY!"

Well, look. A bunny. Or more specifically, look, Countdown: A Newsflesh Novella now available for your e-reading pleasure! Countdown retails for $2.99, and is an awesome opportunity to have more Kellis-Amberlee goodness for your very own.

Click here to go to the official Orbit Short Fiction page for Countdown.
Click here to go to Amazon, and the Kindle store.
Click here to go to Barnes and Noble, and the Nook store.
Click here to go to the iBook store.

Now, some people will doubtless ask why they should pay for this when they can (and possibly have) read it for free on my blog. They may not ask me directly, 'cause we're normally more civil than that around here, but I'm going to answer anyway. There are four really good reasons.

1. This is a professionally formatted file, with all thirty days in the same place. No clicking, scrolling, or getting lost in my occasionally quixotic tag system. Basically, it's three dollars for total convenience.

2. I said a few times while writing the original series of posts that errors would creep in because writing live left me no time to go back and revise. Well, the luxury of Countdown becoming something I was paid for allowed me to go back, edit, adjust, and correct a lot of things, some little, some big. It also got a pass through the Machete Squad, making it a much higher-quality work.

3. The novella I want to do next year for Blackout is much larger and more ambitious, and it's really going to need those editorial revisions to be as good as I want it to be. The sales of Countdown will encourage Orbit to buy The Rising 2014: The Last Stand and Final Fall of the California Browncoats.

4. My cats like to eat. My cats like to eat a lot. My cats will, eventually, if unfed, eat me. If the cats eat me, I stop writing. If I stop writing, everyone will be sad. Except for me, as I will have been eaten. Buying Countdown helps me shove gooshy food into the fluffy monsters, and allows me to remain uneaten.

Countdown!

Thanks to the wonder of pre-orders, I found Countdown magically on my kindle this morning! :-)

Because Seanan remaining uneaten is a good thing, and gooshy food costs $$. I do not want to be sad!
Hooray!

It's not available to the UK, otherwise I would be all over it with high pitched cries of glee, never mind the next novella, which would also make me squeak :P I would like to feed your cats but I will have to wait until the next Toby book, when I get sick of waiting for my pre-order and go hunting for a paper copy, sorry :/
The Orbit short fiction program isn't available in the UK yet, which makes me sad. But the audio edition will be available in the UK, which makes me happy.

There's no need to be sorry over regional issues.

I have done my part to ensure Thomas grows big enough to be used as a mode of transportation.

Dear Orbit, please pretty please with cherries and chocolate syrup on top publish the Browncoat story. I have wanted to read that since I first heard that the Rising went down at SDCC.

I downloaded Countdown and your other short story they have as well. Mmm, apocalyptic.
They definitely want to, I just need to keep showing that I'm a good investment. :)

Hee, yay!
Yay! Ah, I was going to ask about it being Kindle only, but I see it is now edited to include the B&N Nook (ePub), so I can get that. Thanks...
Oh, yay! ePub version! I shall buy it for my Sony tonight!

Awesome! And thanks to having a little store credit left at Amazon, I just snagged it over there....
Woo!

And what a fine, fine bunny it is! Congrats and thanks again!

Bunny goes hop.
New cat food on the market: Gooshy Seanan McGuire. It's nomtastic.
Word.
Yay! Although I'm not an e-book kinda guy I'm very happy this compilation exists.
Me, too.
Niftykeen!! Also, if I recall, I think the ebook version has some material that wasn't posted online. I definitely remember reading things I hadn't seen before, even for days I'd already read. So that's five reasons!

I told someone at Comic-Con about the "Rising at Comic-Con" story. He was all fed-up with zombies, but I still pushed Feed on him.
Better being fed-up with zombies than them being fed up with you *g*.

Glee.
Well if given the choice between buying a novella and you being eaten by your cats... I think I shall choose the novella. :D
Good call.
Kobo? and I'm really glad you are doing this. Now Vicky can read it. Awesome idea.
I'm very happy.
You just sold yourself really well - was able to resist the purchase when I saw the preorder, but hey, I want to keep a copy of it where I can read it, and well, I failed my roll vs. hungry kitties. (not like it wasn't a roll I wanted to fail).
Yay!
CRY

if only i could read this without an ereader ;~;
You don't need an ereader; most of the stores have free apps that you can use to read on your computer.

This is the first book I have ever bought for my iToy.
Grabbed it at 12:08am this morning. Now to decide if I'm going to let the teenager near my Kindle so he can read it nicely or make him use his phone.

And we like Seanan's kitties getting food. Even when fed my cats have occasionally tried to kill one of us to eat us just to keep in practice for the eventuality that they will need this skill. Watch out for salmon skin on the vinyl flooring is all I can say.

Just grabbed it from google books for my nifty new-to-me-yet-already-obsolete-and-unsupported eDGe: http://books.google.com/ebooks?id=1yc0m_4nxy0C
Hopefully that will appease the kitty gods for a few more minutes...
Awesome, thank you.

Yay!
Am in the midst of Deadline right now, and wow, just keeps getting better and better. I will be thrilled to purchase this novella, you bet! And will pass on the news of its existence to the friends who are also as in love with these stories as I am.

Fabulous, thank you.
