The fact that I haven't read the fourth book yet makes this trickier... (I've been saving it for when I really need a good book and/or for when I have an entire day to just sit and read without feeling guilty.) So, to play it safe, I'll go for something vague.

I hope that Toby ends the book with a close friendship or relationship that wasn't there before. (One that's good and healthy, etc.)

I suspect Tybalt will be unable to control his hunting urges when he spots Toby in mer-form... and it will end badly for all involved.

In One Salt Sea, Tybalt goes for a skinny dip in the Pacific. Connor spies him, romance ensues, hilarity abounds.

Toby will get caught in a tsunami caused by Magic Rage (tm) and end up surfing straight under the Golden Gate Bridge on the last remnants of the Underwater Fae's exploded dwelling. She'll wash up on some industrial section of the harbor, where Tybalt will make disdainful comments about being wet *again* because of her.

C'mon - surfin' safari! It's excellent, dude!

I hope for more Toby and Tybalt.
I think Tybalt should make sushi jokes. Or just look hungrily at Toby if she gets a mermaid's tail...hungrier, I mean.
May and Connor could hook up. Or May and Quentin.

I think that Toby will make some annoyed comments about having already had her lifetime's supply of being turned into a fish, and continue to have culinary habits that make me cringe.

It'll be interesting to see how "land lubber" fae magic works in the ocean. Any adventure in the water will require Connor's help, along with the other Selkie and water fae.

Tybalt is going to be at least jealous of Connor (maybe even a little angry) he can't really help, even though he may not personally mind water as much as others of his clan. Although Tybalt probably finds being soaked totally undignified.

Speaking of water fae, I can see the Luidaig giving Toby indirect aid, in the form of an artifact or a magic-enhancing device. Although, if it does anything like turn Toby into a fish, she's going to freak out.

I have a feeling someone is going to die in this one.

Honestly? I have no idea -- that's why I'm a reader, not an author.

I know I'd like to see more of May and her backstory, but I have no real expectations other than assuming it's going to be awesome as usual.

So I'm looking forward to it!

I really hope that we get a bit more Conner. I like him and he does tend to be a bit overshadowed by Tybalt.

In One Salt Sea, Toby will discover the darkest secret of Connor's family - his aunt has run away from her family in her youth, and is now working as a performing act balancing balls on her nose. Also, Spike will start romancing a cactus.
