Happy birthday, Thomas!

Today is Thomas's first birthday! Yes. One year ago precisely, Thomas Price Lynn Rhymer Taylor McGuire was unleashed upon the world by Betsy Tinney at Pinecoon Maine Coons, who was kind enough to then let him come and live with me. In honor of his birthday, Thomas has been brushed, cooed over, given treats, and didn't get yelled at for sleeping on the counter.

And now...pictures.

This is Thomas, right after I brought him home from Seattle. So he was about four months old, full of curiosity and twitching. Such a sweet boy.

Thomas promptly began to fit into our lovely Halloween world, displaying a good eye for lighting, and a fondness for orange things. He's about six months old here.

Long cat...is very, very long. Seven months old, and having the first of the really major, disturbing, "weren't you smaller when I left for work this morning?" growth spurts.

This picture was taken yesterday. That tree is sized to full-grown, large cats. Note how much of it Thomas fills. I live with the Yeti.

And I wouldn't have it any other way.

They're great big gallumphing darlings no matter what size they are. The females don't get ANYWHERE near as big as the males. Typically 13-16 pounds.
My friend's cats were often grumpy and then she started getting their hair clipped down and their attitudes did almost a 180. It was crazy to see.
Haha, I clip Bella because she is so NOT amenable to my brushing her... They HATE being matted or clumpy, and are total grouches. Bella's dad, the 20#er I was talking about earlier, gets a lion cut probably twice a year, and he prances about happily every time.
I've contemplated getting my cat clipped because she has the longer coat that a MC has... but I don't know how she'd react to the actual process.

Also? I think it's amazing that you call your MC Bella... my friend's MC has the same name. :D
She'll probably freak out at first, and then strut around like she's the coolest kid on the block. Does she let you brush her? Because if she doesn't mat heavily and lets you brush her regularly, I don't recommend clipping.

And yes! Such a good name. And she knows she's a 'beautiful'. :)
She lets me brush her a little but she still gets the occasional matt in the longer leg hair around the backs of her thighs... which I have to sometimes go after with a pair of scissors. I try to keep up with the brushing though.

:D
Then she should be good with just the brushing. You're welcome to clip her down and see how she does; if she likes it, go for it! But since she's not matting much, it's not really necessary.
Thanks for the advice! I'll think about it. Though I think she can read my mind. I might be getting dirty looks. >.> lol.
