Happy birthday, Thomas!

Today is Thomas's first birthday! Yes. One year ago precisely, Thomas Price Lynn Rhymer Taylor McGuire was unleashed upon the world by Betsy Tinney at Pinecoon Maine Coons, who was kind enough to then let him come and live with me. In honor of his birthday, Thomas has been brushed, cooed over, given treats, and didn't get yelled at for sleeping on the counter.

I have a black-and-white European shorthair who is insanely huge and has very thick fur; she loves to be a long cat, too.

I don't know how common they are in the UK, but I think you'd adore them. Big plush pillow cats.

Hey, he and I share a birthday! The 15th was my birthday too, though I turned a little older than Thomas :). He has gone from a cutie into just gorgeous.

1) He is adorable. 2) His mother has the same name as my spouse's Evil Former Boss. Somehow, this makes me nervous, like she's jumped species or something.

Nineteen pounds, slightly underweight according to my vet, and still expanding.

And apparently from what I've heard, Maine Coons still keep growing up until the age of two. o.o

My cat, zara_cat is part Maine Coon. Not full, but part.

Solidly until the age of 3 or 4, actually, and then they continue to fill out until about 6 or 7. On average. Sometimes the females don't actually fill out as much as they could until they're spayed, but that's typically on the ones you don't want to breed anyway.

Example: my Bella doesn't quite fit breed standards, so I spayed her and she finally filled out (she was the runt of the litter that lived). Daisy, our current whole queen, is nice and solid. The grandfather of the kitten I have on the ground right now is about 20 pounds and all of 6, so he could well fill out a little bit more, put on a few more pounds.

(Side note: We have the same exact tree. Let's just say the platform overflows with furry wondrousness whenever my ginormous baby gets up there and leave it at that, 'kay? hehehe...)

What a long, fluffy looker! and it looks like he still has plans for further development.

Maine Coons are so pretty and Thomas in particular has a very strong air of a cat who knows it. Happy birthday, fluffyface! Enjoy the extra brushies.
