Cast your net to win a copy of ONE SALT SEA!

It's time for ARC giveaway #3...the casting call! Here's how this is going to work:

1. Leave a comment on this post with YOUR DREAM CAST for ANY of my projects. Want to cast the Toby books? How about Feed? Or Sparrow Hill Road? Have the perfect actress in mind for Velveteen? The sky's the limit!

1b. Be sure your comment starts its own thread. Only casting choices left on the original post (not as a comment on someone else's comment) will count as entries. You can suggest cast members for someone else's dream team, but they won't be entries.

2. One entry per project per person (so you can cast the Toby books and the InCryptid books in different comments, but not enter twice with different Toby casts).

3. Explain your cast in the comment. Why are they perfect? Why should we agree with you?

And then...GAME ON! I will choose a winner via random number generator on Friday, at 5PM PST. I reserve the right to supply a bonus prize or prizes for the person whose cast amuses me most, or strikes me as the best supported. (Yes, you can use my casting choices, but you do need to explain why you agree with them.)

Go Hollywood or go home!

George: Can you cast this? I don't know that it's possible. Casting George would be kind of like correctly casting Lear (can't really be done). For lack of better options, dye Jennifer Lawrence's hair dark brown and stick black contacts in her eyes. She deserved that Oscar nod for Winter's Bone.

Shaun: Anton Yelchin (from Charlie Bartlett, among others) because no one else has quite his balance of cheekiness, wounded spirit, and soul

Buffy: Laura Vandervoort (erstwhile of V) because *look at her*. If you saw her on the show, tell me you can't imagine her embodying just Buffy's mixture of brainy, earnest drive and holier-than-thou fatalism?

The Masons: Julianna Margulies (of Julianna Margulies is awesome) - again I refer to a previous role on an over show - The Sopranos) and Linus Roach of Wings of the Dove, etc. (no one plays professorially underhanded and yet somehow wishy-washy like this dude)

Senator Ryman: Aiden Quinn. Anyone who saw Legends of the Fall when they were twelve will not disagree with me.

Emily Ryman: Sela Ward. Talk about your steel magnolias.

Governor Tate: Stephen Collins (aka the dad from Seventh Heaven), because he totally has that secretly evil thing going on.

Rick: Kevin Alejandro (from True Blood, currently). I don't have much reasoning behind this one. Just that he's who popped in my mind when I read Feed, possibly because of the quiet cunning he brings to a lot of his roles.
Indeed, Stephen Collins does have that "secretly evil" thing going on; he turned up as a notable recurring archvillain in the short-lived series No Ordinary Family this past season. I saw only bits and pieces of the series as it aired, but may well pick it up if/when it gets a DVD release.
