Cast your net to win a copy of ONE SALT SEA!

It's time for ARC giveaway #3...the casting call! Here's how this is going to work:

1. Leave a comment on this post with YOUR DREAM CAST for ANY of my projects. Want to cast the Toby books? How about Feed? Or Sparrow Hill Road? Have the perfect actress in mind for Velveteen? The sky's the limit!

1b. Be sure your comment starts its own thread. Only casting choices left on the original post (not as a comment on someone else's comment) will count as entries. You can suggest cast members for someone else's dream team, but they won't be entries.

2. One entry per project per person (so you can cast the Toby books and the InCryptid books in different comments, but not enter twice with different Toby casts).

3. Explain your cast in the comment. Why are they perfect? Why should we agree with you?

And then...GAME ON! I will choose a winner via random number generator on Friday, at 5PM PST. I reserve the right to supply a bonus prize or prizes for the person whose cast amuses me most, or strikes me as the best supported. (Yes, you can use my casting choices, but you do need to explain why you agree with them.)

Go Hollywood or go home!

For George: Rachael Leigh Cook. I realize she hasn't been in anything in awhile, but she's a keeper. She can stare down politicians from behind sunglasses successfully all day.

For Shaun: Jenson Ackles. The man is a legend for his work on Supernatural. He would gleefully taunt zombies, and I have no trouble seeing him talking to himself believably for DEADEND.

For Buffy: Hmm I wonder if Clémence Poésy can do an American accent? She's quirky but fragile enough for the role. Barring that, I'd say see what Amber Benson's up to...

For Senator Ryman: Nathan Fillion. Period.
DEADLINE! doh. more caffeine is required.
My cast will be for the Toby Daye series. For Toby I would cast Emma stone because she is funny and witty but can also beat the crap out of zombies and run like hell. As we know Toby does her fair share of running, so that is an important attribute. :-) For Tybalt I would cast a 30 year old David Bowie. My reason for this... David Bowie is awesome. Enough said. Conner I would cast as Josh Duhamel. But his acting would be more like how he was in When In Rome rather then Transformers.
Hm... It's very hard to pick. :( BUT! I think I will do Sparrow Hill Road, because... because!

Rose Marshall: Amanda Seyfried. I've only just discovered the adorableness that is this girl, because I've only just recently discovered the awesomeness of Veronica Mars, BUT. I think she's versatile enough to pull off spunky-but-innocent 1940's Rose, and full-of-attitude present-day Rose (both in acting and looks). If Sparrow Hill Road were a television show (which I would kill for, honestly), she'd be the person I would most want tapped as Rose.
Bobby Cross: Harry Hamlin. Okay, yes, another Mars cast member, but he's really got the mix between good looks, charm, and underlying creepiness that Bobby Cross really should have, in my opinion. I'd want him from around his LA Law days, but I think he's really perfect. As Aaron Echolls, I never was quite comfortable with him, though he SEEMED charming enough initially, so I know he can play that sort of role, and I think it would be fab.
Gary Daniels (High Schooler): Marc Blucas. Around the time he was playing Riley on Buffy, maybe a bit earlier. He really does have that Good Ol' Boy thing going on, clean cut, polite, well-spoken. I think with the right haircut, he would pass as a 1940's teen just fine. Also, I think he and Amanda would look completely perfect together as Rose and Gary.
Gary Daniels (Present): John Noble. He's not quite built like Marc, but I deeply admire John and think he is a fabulous actor. While older!Gary would not be in the cast for long before dying, I know John can pull of the deep and intense emotion he'd need for the role. Plus, I just ADORE him.
Emma: Gina Bellman. She can be fierce, she can be hilarious, she's got great range as an actress and a great quirky look that I love. Plus, she really kind of catches the way Emma looks in my head. Hey, it's America, who says a Bean Sidhe's gotta be white? ;)
Bethany Marshall: Jodelle Ferland. Okay, okay, she's a little young. But we know that she's capable of playing "Nice Girl" and "Really Frakkin' Crazy", and I just think she's really awesome and I think she would do well in the part.

That is my dream casting! :) Can't wait to see what the winning cast is, even if it IS random.
So, pretty much the casting game is what my friend and I do when we're going on trail runs (well, outside of discussing what sci-fi/fantasy/horror critters we're outrunning for the day). So with the aid of said friend, we've compiled an actual written list for the casting discussions we've had:

October Daye series:
Toby Daye- Stana Kanick
Tybalt- Michael Fassbender
Danny- Daniel Cudmore
Luna- Anne Hathaway
Queen of the Mists- Emilia Clarke, the girl who played Daenerys in A Game of Thrones, even if she is a bit short for it
Oleander- Summer Glau
Sylvester- Alan Tudyk
Blind Michael- Sean Bean or Jason Isaacs
Quentin- Anton Yelchin
Marcia- Jennifer Lawrence

Feed-verse:
Rick Cousins- Joseph Gordon Levitt
Senator Ryman- Aaron Eckhart
Dr Joseph Wynn- Nathan Fillion
urk, left off Lily- Zhang Ziyi--she'd be so freaking perfect even if she is Chinese and not Japanese
These would be My cast for Toby Daye

Nathan Fillion = Sylvester (Castle)
Ed Quinn =Tybalt ( Eureka and True Blood
Kevin Bacon= Connor
Gina Bellman= The Luidaeg
Anna Torv = Toby (Fringe)
Amanda Seyfried = Stacey
Jessica Tuck = Queen of Mist
Denise O'Hare = Simon True Blood
Luna = Cate Blanchette
Lily = Ming-Na

Toby / May: Sarah Bolger. For me she just screams Toby! She has a eye catching face but she seems both intelligent, resourceful and can get dirty and dig in the mud if need be.

Tybalt: David Gandy. David Gandy has both both the beauty and presence required to be a certain King of Cats.

The Luidaeg: Cate Blanchett. She is an amazing actress who I believe would play the role of Luidaeg well because she could translate from hands down awesome to frightening if needed in a second flat.

Connor: Henry Fitzroy. He may not be well known but he certainly has that whole surfer vib going on that Connor has.

Queen of the Mists: Natalie Dormer. She is one tough cookie and gorgeous, enough said.

Quentin: Patrick Johnson. This young man is absolutely adorable. I first saw him in the TV series Necessary Roughness, with curly hair, dimples in his cheeks and witty comments, he would make an excellent Quentin.

Sylvester: Simon Woods. As Mr. Bingley in Pride and Prejudice, his vibrant red hair and calm but confindent demeanor, make him the perfect Sylvester.

Luna: Rosamund Pike. Pike is laid-back and reserved, fitting for Luna.

Lily: Michelle Yeoh. She seems both elegant and intelligent and carries an "air" about her, making her perfect for the part of Lily.
Going to do Feed.

George: Michelle Forbes

Shaun: Seth Green

Buffy: Gillian Jacobs

The Masons: Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny. I don't think I can defend this beyond my absolute glee at the thought of it.

Senator Ryman: A young William Shatner

Emily Ryman: A young Kate Mulgrew

Senator Tate: An older William Shatner. What? Priceline and Star Trek have shown conclusively that Shatner v. Shatner is the ultimate standoff.

In the event that William Shatner refuses to play opposite a younger William Shatner, I would swap Scott Bakula in for Senator Ryman.

Dennis Stahl: William H Macy

Rick: Joel Mchale

Dr. Wynne: Hugo Weaving

Becks: Anna Paquin

Mahir: Kunal Nayyar

(And though I'm not covering Deadline, Mary Jo Pehl is Dr. Abbey.)
While many of the characters in The Newsflesh Trilogy brought to mind historic celebrities or folks I know, i'm gonna try to stick to actual, real casting possibilities. As a result it may skew a little young...just in case, ya know, it might take a few years to get everything ready to go!

Georgia: Malese Jow http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1679802/

Shawn: Steven R McQueen http://wwwcc.imdb.com/name/nm1997596/

(they have a really fascinating on-screen chemistry together, both have considerable acting chops tho i haven't seen enough of him doing comedy to be sure about carrying Deadline. However, i have faith in the insanely pretty. I also like that you could *almost* believe they are related, but then jolt back into the reality that they are very clearly of different parentage)

Becks: Sarah Carter http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0141931/ (got the southern belle pretty along with a steel backbone)

I kinda love the idea of Kyle Chandler and Bonnie Briton from FNL as Senator and Emily Ryman, but i think Nathan Fillion is screaming for the role of Senator Ryman, and of course would pull it off admirable.

Rick: Ben Rappaport http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2999419/

I know, it's not complete. I have perfect mental images of Mahir, Magdalena, Buffy, and the Masons...but am not finding the right actors. Yet.
Woke up with a minor breakthrough - Greg Itzin as Senator Tate. For a nice guy he plays evil reeeeaaaallly well. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0411857/
George: Emma Stone. For reasons unclear, I feel like she could do a very good abrupt.

Shaun: Chris Evans. I think he's got the perfect sort of devil-may-care/harried combination.

Buffy: Dakota Fanning. Seriously, have you seen Push?

The Masons: helen hunt and stanley tucci

Senator Ryman: Younger Rob Lowe. I'd vote for him.

Emily Ryman: Older Michelle Trachtenberg.

Rick: Josh Harnett

Governor Tate: John Travolta
