ARC giveaway #2: The picture giveaway.

It's time for the second ARC giveaway for One Salt Sea, the fifth of the October Daye adventures. As per the usual pattern around here, this is the giveaway that requires a little more effort. To whit:

For this giveaway, we're going visual! Take a copy of one of my books. Take a pet, prop, or even a small child, whatever suits your fancy. An Artificial Night being held by a little girl with a candle in her other hand? A Local Habitation being used to prop up your DSL modem? Late Eclipses being menaced by an army of My Little Ponies? Whatever you can set up and snapshot, I want to see!

Post your pictures (or links to your pictures) here. On Tuesday, July 5th, I will choose my five favorites, and allow the random number generator to select five more. These will go up as a poll, and the world can vote! The final winner will be determined at 8am PST on Friday, July 8th. North American entries only this time, I'm afraid; I just can't afford the international postage right now. I'm sorry about that.

Be creative, be quirky, have fun, and show me what awesome things you can do with a camera, a book, and the desire to own One Salt Sea before your neighbors do!

Do the Mira Grant books count too?

They count, but you'll have to knock my socks off to make my top five, because I want ARCs of Toby books to go to people I know are definitely Toby fans, if I have an option. :) Random number generator may be on your side, however.

Because I couldn't decide between you-can-see-all-the-books! and cat-walking-on-the-books, here are two.

Her name is Bluebell and she turned ten in March. (I have had her OVER HALF MY LIFE WHAT IS THIS.) And she's part Siamese. Oh how she talks.

And damnit, I just noticed I set the Toby books down out of order.

(Just reread Toby yesterday! I hadn't really realized before that a) they really get progressively MORE INTENSE and b) you are as brutal with your characters as Seanan as you are as Mira.)

(Also, Toby is two months older than my mom. That's really weird. I hadn't noticed that before.)

Oh hey, Deadline's a paperback? I'm not sure why I assumed otherwise but oh god yes must obtain.

Weird coincidence - I can say the exact same thing about my chatty hybrid girl, swapping out March for June. They grow up so fast; it's crazy.

Do you have a kindle? If so, you can go to the cover and put the kindle in the photo. The cover should still show up.

alas, i own no cats. however, i do own special little things close to my heart called giantmicrobes, which are 1,000,000x the actual size and colourful and fluffy. say hello to my adorable pink spiral bacteria, Treponema Pallidum, also known as Syphilis. i have three, and though not dangerous or contagious as Marburg-Amberlee, they're possibly just as awesome.

yay for fluffy pink STDs!

Alas, that my cats refuse to pose (I tried to get them to stay near the books and failed miserably) and I have no fun little props to pose them with! So I settled for this.



My lovely fiancee, "posing" with AAN. Or, more accurately, my fiancee, napping, with no idea that I'm about to wake her up with the sound my phone makes when I take a picture. >_>

Alright here is my entry. What you see here is my entire collection of Disney Vinylmations. In case you don't know, they're basically 3 inch tall Mickey Mouses made of vinyl and designed to look like or represent Disney characters, Disney Parks attractions, etc. They discovered their summer reading pick by my pool! Enjoy!


"Ooh what's this?" they ask. "Let's get a closer look!"


It's such a good read, they're suddenly already on Chapter 24!

They all love it! As much as I do. Which is a lot.

I'm pretty sure Toby was born in Oakland, so Mr. T-Rex decided to show her how much he loves her. Poor Mr. T-Rex doesn't realize that she might love the Giants considering she lives in San Francisco now :(

I live in the UK (but my Uncle lives in America so anything can be posted to his house, and he's coming over for two weeks in August, but my lucks not that good.) To be honest I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to post a picture of Min lying in her basket on her back, not particularly lady-like but what can I say...

Sadly, I don't own a cat...allergies and whatnot. However, I hosted a tea party for Toby even though coffee might have been a better choice for her. My other guest would have strongly disagreed. Maybe cappuccino next time? Here's a picture of the event.

You can see the cats in the background as orange and black blobs, but they were both profoundly uncooperative every time I brought the books near them.

Poodle Sidhe would be a nice addition to the books, in Crow's opinion. Far more entertaining than Cait Sidhe. After all, what cat would balance a book on his head?

I was going to do this from Deviant ART but can't figure out how to link just the image. I don't know enough of the code they give to figure it out. So, I uploaded elsewhere but also left the photo on devART. I figure it can't hurt publicity any. ;)

I regrettably don't own AAN, but I still shamelessly took advantage of the fact that I volunteer in a gift shop in order to create this still-life. I haven't done many, so I hope it came out okay. :)
