I am too tired to brain. Have some interviews and randomness.

I am officially too tired to brain. Wait, no; that's not entirely true. I am too scatter-pants to brain. I need more sleep, but I'm also trying to think about like twenty things at the same time, which doesn't help with the braining. Someone come over and give me a booster shot of single-mindedness, because I am out.

Anyway, here, have some interviews I've done recently, because they're fun.

Ramblings of a Teenage Novelist is a relatively new blog, and demonstrated "if you don't ask, you don't get" by requesting an interview about the Mira Grant books. I was glad to oblige, and some awesome questions got asked! Check it out.

Remember the whole thing with Feed being up for a Shirley Jackson Award and me being basically dead of amazed? Well, here's my official interview for the award site, about suspense and research and plausibility. I squealed when I got the request. It made the nomination way more real.

Amazon Omnivoracious posed some excellent questions about the world of Newsflesh, which I was happy to answer. It's hard doing the interview circuit right around the time of a book release; I keep needing to find new things to say. Go see if I succeeded.

Finally, not quite a review, but: Georgia Mason made io9's list of the Top Ten Investigative Reporters from Science Fiction and Fantasy. They're from the future, you know. Them liking me melts my blackened little serial killer heart.

Now can I have a nap?

I have many naps. I can spare a few!
Sharing is AWESOME.

I've been wondering about that. My con experience is relatively light.

Is bringing baked goods to authors/artists acceptable within the bounds of con etiquette?

I'm always at my most single-minded when I'm trying not to do something else. The most cleaning that ever gets done is when I don't want to help Josh with the budget, for instance. So sometimes at work, I bribe myself with the less pleasant tasks by reminding myself what I'm avoiding.

So writing up a service plan right now is WAY preferable to going to visit the guy who got fired over hygiene issues.
...I get that.

yes, naps are permitted :)
Yay!
When you become singleminded, it seems like Death1, War2, Plague3, & Pestilence4 come out to play. (I of course hope it turns out to be a good day for you. I just hope the rest of the world can handle it.)

I'm just imagining Seanan busily typing when there's a knock on the door. Thomas walks over and opens it (having somehow figured out the lock) and there's the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

"Hi! Can Seanan come out and play?"
"Meow." (Subtitle: "She's writing another book.")
"Oh. Well, never mind, then. We'll come back later."
"Mrrrow!" ("Next month should be good. Call first, will you?")
On the Top 10 Investigative Reporters list, it states Goergia "wears all black. Owing to an eye condition, she never takes off her sunglasses."

Reminds me of a cow-orker here that we all call "Madame Parasol". She wears the exact same black outfit every single day we see her - black blouse, black jacket, black slacks, black platform clogs, black bag, black sunglasses, black lace parasol - she even drives a black car. The only thing that ever changes is that, sometimes, she walks in with a red lace parasol instead of the black one - the exact same parasol except for the color.
Heeeeee.

Okay, that's awesome.
I like the insight that Toby has an advantage over any given Newsflesh character because they see blood and think 'shit, biohazard' and she thinks 'well, that could be useful'. It's not something I'd think about until you point it out.
Well, yay. There's a reason to read interviews.
Unknowable Bulldog Errands is the name of my next band.
For some reason, I'm way too excited that you've seen "Night of the Comet". I loved that movie, even though I was probably too young to see it when I did and it gave me nightmares. :P
That movie was crazy foundational for me as a person. Which is a little disturbing, come to think of it...
The Omnivoracious mentioned FEED being a Philip K. Dick award finalist - I didn't know that!
Neither did I!
I love the company io9 made sure Georgia is keeping. Kinda cool she's on the list with folks like Lois and Sarah Jane.
I know, right?!
I'm not really capable of being intentionally single-minded. I realize that I've been single-minded when the outside world suddenly intrudes and I realize that a significant span of time has vanished. Sometimes I even accomplish something productive during these spans.
Hee.
Is it strange that my pulse jumps when I read you said the words "If things are too slow for too long, blow something up?"
No.
Thanks for the io9 link. Glad that George made the list, but also, the photo of the Lone Gunmen at the top was seriously cockle-warming and nostalgia-inducing.
I'm thrilled.
