Hope you brought your water wings. There's an undertow.

Yes, it's time for the moment you've all been waiting for: the moment where I give away the first ARC of One Salt Sea, the fifth book in the October Daye series. Today seems like a good day to open the contest, being as it's the summer solstice and all. Longest day of the year means free stuff for somebody! So...

Who wants to win an ARC? About what I figured. I'll have some more effort-intensive contests in a little bit, but first up, it's our old favorite, the random drawing. To enter, please do the following:

1) Leave a comment on this entry. Leave it as a comment on the entry, please, not on someone else's comment. Comments left on other comments cannot win.

2) That's all.

Please don't comment going "pick me, pick me," if you could be so kind. I don't pick anyone. The random number generator picks the winner, and it is a cruel mistress which has never yet picked a comment containing "pick me." Instead, why not tell me why you're excited about this book? I'd really love to know.

I will choose a winner at 2PM PST on Friday, June 24th.

Game on!

ETA: Y'all, please remember that I won't answer questions posed on a random number giveaway post. It messes up my ability to cleanly locate a winner, and that just makes things frustrating for everyone.

Oh my, One Salt Sea ARC!...YEAH! Within the last two years I have become obsessed with the October Daye series. The journey that Toby has gone on is amazing. The difficulties that she has faced and the triupmhs that have come from them are truly inspiring. I guess that is what I most look forward to in this next book, the struggles that Toby will have to look straight in the face and how she is going to deal with them.

It is my greatest hope that an ARC of One Salt Sea might hop my way :D

I'm excited because I enjoy your writing. I especially enjoy watching how you have grown and matured as a writer. Not to say you didn't used toe be good. But you are better now. I hope that makes sense.
I am going to be so incredibly happy when One Salt Sea comes out. Or just about anything in the Toby-verse to be honest. Are there any active online fan-communities??

I'm so excited to win (really just to read the new book, whether I win or not!) that I actually dredged up my livejournal account password (that I'm always forgetting) so I can enter.

I've been reading since the first book - I love the characters and so many of the action scenes are both exciting AND funny, which is great!

Patiently I wait for your next book when my productivity goes down the drain for a week. :)
I'm interested to see what sort of havoc Toby will wreak in an underwater kingdom.

Also, what sort of comments Tybalt will make once Toby gets back no doubt smelling strongly of fish.
I'm excited about One Salt Sea because I've read/listened to each of the previous books so many times that I'm dying to know what happens next.
I buy these books to read about Tybalt. ;)

Seriously, this series hits just the right note between scary, beautiful, mischievous, and powerful -- between light and dark. Also, I have a weakness for girl sleuths and fairy tales. And hot sexy guys. And hot sexy kissing scenes. (Tybalt's in OSS, right? It looks like OSS is set in Salt Mist, but still...you wouldn't leave him out, right? Right? You enjoying tormenting us, don't you?)

Also, the covers...I've liked them all, but OSS is just amazing and magical. Though every time I see it, HOW MUCH SALT starts playing in my mind.
Will you ship to Canada? I'm stupidly busy over the next 6 months, to the point where reading as leisure may not be an option, but for an ARC of One Salt Sea? I'd MAKE time. Likely by drinking lots of coffee and staying up late, but it would be worth it.
Hope your day goes well. And I have been looking forward to reading One Salt Sea since I finished Late Eclipses. The books, in my opinion, just keep getting better and better.
I look forward to more Toby (and her myriad reasons to dislike you) with such glee. Maybe I'll get lucky - either way I know I get to read it later this year, tho, so either way I'm gleeful.
I can still say that this series is getting more awesome every book.
I love these books!
I've just started reading the October Daye series, but I've been buying them for my Nook. I need the One Salt Sea ARC so that I'll have something physical to get signed by you at CONvergence in a couple weeks! :-)
Happy solstice to all of us (or at least to the one who is randomly lucky!)

I just love this series. I wrote a review on the third one ages ago, and keep meaning to write more.
I am excited about One Salt Sea as I have the cover on the wall of the bedroom. And the Toby books are how I was introduced to your work and I in all honesty however much I enjoy the books with Zombies in them, Zombies are not normally a subject I have any interest in.
I've loved your Toby Daye series from the very beginning and I've always always been a lurker. Too shy to voice my opinion or crow my enjoyment. However, my fondness of Toby Daye has taken me out of shadows at the thought of getting an opportunity to delve into that world again.

Seanan I can't tell you how talented an author you are!! Believe me I've been a hardcore fantasy fan for around 8 years and I count on one hand authors that have been able to connect me. What can I say, you are truly gifted :-)

Now, to the next huddle of getting this posted ;-)
Happy Solstice!

Friday is my birthday and this would be a TOTALLY appropriate present :)
This is a comment.

::Hopes my number will come up::
No special circumstances for me. I just want a copy, for I am a selfish human. It's a thing. Will gladly pay for my copy in September if I don't win.
