Hope you brought your water wings. There's an undertow.

Yes, it's time for the moment you've all been waiting for: the moment where I give away the first ARC of One Salt Sea, the fifth book in the October Daye series. Today seems like a good day to open the contest, being as it's the summer solstice and all. Longest day of the year means free stuff for somebody! So...

Who wants to win an ARC? About what I figured. I'll have some more effort-intensive contests in a little bit, but first up, it's our old favorite, the random drawing. To enter, please do the following:

1) Leave a comment on this entry. Leave it as a comment on the entry, please, not on someone else's comment. Comments left on other comments cannot win.

2) That's all.

Please don't comment going "pick me, pick me," if you could be so kind. I don't pick anyone. The random number generator picks the winner, and it is a cruel mistress which has never yet picked a comment containing "pick me." Instead, why not tell me why you're excited about this book? I'd really love to know.

I will choose a winner at 2PM PST on Friday, June 24th.

ETA: Y'all, please remember that I won't answer questions posed on a random number giveaway post. It messes up my ability to cleanly locate a winner, and that just makes things frustrating for everyone.

In all honesty the random number generator should NOT pick me, since I won last time. but I have an overwhelming addiction to beautiful lovely Toby books, and if I can get an ARC... I want one!
Also, you are extremely awesome, and if I don't win I will wait until RELEASE DAY (no sooner) to find a copy in stores.

I am really excited for this book. I love the water to begin with, so a book set in a water kingdom, possibly? YES PLS. Also, I've been so pleased with how your Toby books have progressed. I've liked each one as much as Rosemary & Rue, if not better, and she's such a great heroine.

Plus, of course, Tybalt.

I also will be Twittering kitty pictures at you. I know this is a random number generator, so it will have no impact, but kitty pictures cannot hurt!

When I saw the cover the first thing I thought was "Toby doesn't have red hair, does she?" and that's it. Swear it took me a week or two to notice the tail.

Have enjoyed the series so far and am eagerly awaiting this book. The title keeps reminding me of your song "How much salt?", which is a good thing!

I would love to get an ARC because:
1) It is a new Toby Daye book!
2) Am in Canada and our bookstores don't get shipments sent off until 2-3 weeks after the US release date - my local independent bookstore is now trained to carry all the books under both names and had pre ordered Deadline, but it did not get shipped to them until June 10. Would love to beat the system once!!
3) Want to know more about Amandine - the little glimpses we have had so far are so tantalizing...
4) Water. Mer people. Selkies. What is not to love? (perhaps there is something to this astrology stuff - I'm a Pisces)
5) They keep getting better and better and I keep getting more invested so need a fix!
Whether I get an ARC or not, thanks so much for writing them. We all appreciate it!

I can't wait for more Toby! Urban fantasy usually makes me gag, but this series is a shining light in the collective muck. I <3 you for writing a main character whose primary motivation isn't sex and attention.

I just finished Late Eclipses and am anxiously waiting for more Toby. Can. Not. WAIT!

I've gotten 4 friends and my daughter hooked on Toby, too. :-)

Also, I have a question about the Newsflesh series, if you don't mind me asking here. What happened to the astronauts on the International Space Station, when the first Rising began? (This question has been taking up an inordinate amount of my brainspace, if you can believe it.)

I just got started on your books a couple of weeks ago when I came accross FEED for the Nook. I have devoured both Newsflesh books and all 3 Toby Daye books in the last two weeks. More! Must! Have! More!

I will still be buying it for the Nook regardless. I find I like being able to keep whole series on the Nook. That way when I go back and re-read I am not stuck with reading books 1 & 3 but unable to find what I did with 2.

Hi! I would love and cherish a copy of One Salt Sea! I devoured the first four and am counting down the days until September 6 (77 days).

I've gotten most of my friends to read the series and I'm working on the others. :) But, I can keep a secret and if you don't want me to spoil the plot for anyone I won't!

I'm tellin ya, I won't even write what happens in my journal (online or off)!

That said, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you that I am in LOVE with Tybalt <3 and I have made it very clear with all of my friends who now read the series that I have dibs! :D

Lastly, I want to thank you so much for writing this amazing series with these awesome characters that I adore.

Even if I don't win, I want you to know that you have a fan for life :)

And yet, I am convinced that the random number generator knows my heart, and knows it should pick me, but wants me to ask it.

I want the ARC because I hold out faint hope that I will see a May/Luidaeg relationship, and I must mourn the loss in private and early.

I've just finally got round to reading the first four Toby books, narrowly avoiding the children emulating zombies from Another Series in the process of trying to remove them from me. I'm excited about getting the fifth book partly because the earlier ones are four of the best books I've read in a while, but also because I'd like to stay with the same number of limbs...
