Hope you brought your water wings. There's an undertow.

Yes, it's time for the moment you've all been waiting for: the moment where I give away the first ARC of One Salt Sea, the fifth book in the October Daye series. Today seems like a good day to open the contest, being as it's the summer solstice and all. Longest day of the year means free stuff for somebody! So...

Who wants to win an ARC? About what I figured. I'll have some more effort-intensive contests in a little bit, but first up, it's our old favorite, the random drawing. To enter, please do the following:

1) Leave a comment on this entry. Leave it as a comment on the entry, please, not on someone else's comment. Comments left on other comments cannot win.

2) That's all.

Please don't comment going "pick me, pick me," if you could be so kind. I don't pick anyone. The random number generator picks the winner, and it is a cruel mistress which has never yet picked a comment containing "pick me." Instead, why not tell me why you're excited about this book? I'd really love to know.

I will choose a winner at 2PM PST on Friday, June 24th.

Game on!

ETA: Y'all, please remember that I won't answer questions posed on a random number giveaway post. It messes up my ability to cleanly locate a winner, and that just makes things frustrating for everyone.

Hi Seanan!
I'm pretty excited and looking forward to continuing this series. :D
I am excited to read the new book because it opens up a new part of the world that we know very little about. And after all, what is San Francisco without the ocean?

Wheee ARCs!

I'm thrilled because I'm anxious to find out what all the revelations about Toby's heritage and mom mean, and there is always room for more Tybalt in my life.
Dear random number generator... I'm here. :)

I probably won't win but will I will ask, will you be going to Comic-con? I loved the zombie panel you were on.
I give away the first ARC of One Salt Sea, the fourth book in the October Daye series

Surely it's the _fifth_ book in the series...unless I've somehow hallucinated an imaginary sequel somewhere in there (pretty sure not though).
Need more Tybalt.
I am in fact excited about this book because it's more of your fabulous writing.
This is "the " book I can't wait to read!! September can't get here fast enough!!
Really looking forward to this book and I've always wanted a ARC.
(insert generic, non-threatening comment here)
I cannot wait for this book to come out. It might even stop me obsessively re-reading Deadline in the hopes that the teaser chapter will suddenly become the entire last book of the trilogy. Admittedly, only because I'll be obsessively re-reading One Salt Sea instead...
I've been looking forward to more Toby since I finished Late Eclipses sometime during the first week of its release. The world needs more of your books in general, and I need more Toby and Tybalt and Connor and May and ... you get the idea ... on my bookshelf. (Although, these days it's a figurative bookshelf as I've moved to digital media because my husband won't let me line every room in the house with bookshelves.)

Not only do the books keep getting better & better, but I think this one has my favorite cover yet.

Friday, June 24th

Which is my birthday. As well as my wedding anniversary. (And come to think of it, you were there!)

Edited to restore missing 1st half of comment.
I'm excited because I have a thing about the ocean and ocean-based fantasy. Plus, you know, it's Toby, which makes it better.

Plus, I can gloat to stormsdotter. XP
I'm excited because it's always interesting to see where Toby gets taken next.
I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it...
I'm looking forward to seeing how much trouble Toby can get into by being a non-fish in the water.

I'm also wanting to know just how Tybalt was involved in making that nifty little toy the Luideag gave Toby. I very much want to see that relationship progress. And to know why it took a freaking Firstborn for Toby to breathe underwater.
I'm late to the Toby party but I've listened to the first three audiobooks and painstakingly read Late Eclipses. Bless my iPad. One Salt Sea is top of my reading list because of the cover - Toby as a koi mermaid looks awesome and I can't wait to read more about the Undersea part of her world.

So erm yeah, I wanna read it! Even if the print is tiny, just because it's going to be an amazing book.
Oh, yay!! Love this series, I'm so excited for the next one :D
I am very excited about One Salt Sea because, well, you wrote it. That's pretty hefty motivation right there. Plus I love Toby's world, and the story threads that've been being laid for four books already. I just want more of the world! How is the rose goblin doing? What is Tybalt up to? And I want to name more people, but I'll only make a fool of myself by botching their names. But I want to see Toby spit in the face of surrender again, and meet all the characters I've been growing to love :D
"One Salt Sea, the fourth book in the October Daye series"

And here I thought "One Salt Sea" was the fifth book in the October Daye series.

Dave
I'm glad I wasn't the only one to notice that.
Ooooh, want.

It's solstice? (Checks the date) It's solstice. I hadn't noticed. Days start getting shorter soon. Sadness.
