Hope you brought your water wings. There's an undertow.

Yes, it's time for the moment you've all been waiting for: the moment where I give away the first ARC of One Salt Sea, the fifth book in the October Daye series. Today seems like a good day to open the contest, being as it's the summer solstice and all. Longest day of the year means free stuff for somebody! So...

Who wants to win an ARC? About what I figured. I'll have some more effort-intensive contests in a little bit, but first up, it's our old favorite, the random drawing. To enter, please do the following:

1) Leave a comment on this entry. Leave it as a comment on the entry, please, not on someone else's comment. Comments left on other comments cannot win.

2) That's all.

Please don't comment going "pick me, pick me," if you could be so kind. I don't pick anyone. The random number generator picks the winner, and it is a cruel mistress which has never yet picked a comment containing "pick me." Instead, why not tell me why you're excited about this book? I'd really love to know.

I will choose a winner at 2PM PST on Friday, June 24th.

Game on!

ETA: Y'all, please remember that I won't answer questions posed on a random number giveaway post. It messes up my ability to cleanly locate a winner, and that just makes things frustrating for everyone.

I enjoy reading about Toby's world.
I like that Toby is a fighter and is willing
to defend weak. Can't wait to see the
Selkies world. :)
yay! game on :)
Thanks for teaching the ASL for "Kill zombies with a chainsaw" at Borderlands a couple weeks back. I've used this new tidbit to enrich the educational experience of several Kindergartners already, and school isn't even back in session yet!
I've been dying to read One Salt Sea starting one second after I finished Late Eclipses, but that's how I've felt about every Toby book since I finished the first one!
I'm really excited for the next book in the series. I cant wait for its release in three months! :)
I have multiple levels of excitement about this book.
First, they're fun. I enjoy the characters, and Toby is my kind of person.
Second, I *mumblemumblefanbycrushonyoumumblemumble*, so everything you do makes me happy.
And Third, everyone else I know (who has read them) like the books too!
I want to know what happens next! :D I love the series so far and I'm sure it will only get better!
I think Toby Daye is my fave UF heroine ever. (No, really.) Really enjoyed Late Eclipses. :)
After reading the rest of the Toby Daye books in a span of a few days this spring, I really can't wait for the next installment! It's almost here!
Just finished reading Late Eclipses last night, or rather, really, really early this morning (1.30am - having to get up at 6.30 for work). It was So worth it. I'm really looking forward to One Salt Sea, so i thought i'd enter this competition for the possibility of getting the book early so i can satisfy my Toby addiction! :)
I'm so excited about One Salt Sea. One of the things I most enjoy about your books is I feel like there's so much depth and world-building, to the point where a lot of it is implied and I'm sure you have even more ideas worked out that haven't come up yet. My favorite part of Late Eclipses was seeing those elements come together and I can't wait to find out what happens next. Plus, Tybalt...
Please, Great Pumpkin. Let it be me :)
And I am looking forward to it, because I really really want what happens next in the crazy story of Toby. Plus I am looking forward for her daughter to show up.. it may not happen in this book, but each book will bring as closer to that day :)
I'm usually okay waiting for new Toby books - always happy when they exist, but the wait doesn't drive me crazy me like with Newsflesh. But after I finished Late Eclipses, I almost threw the book because it was over.

...so yeah, I'm just a little excited.
I'm sooooo excited about One Salt Sea! Can't wait! Thanks! :P
Yea for more Toby! I'm excited to see Mermaid Toby the action figure doing her thing and getting into more trouble!
So excited for the new book! :)
I am excited about this book because Toby's adventures keep getting better and better. And I am excited because some really interesting things (which I shall not spoil) happened to Toby in the last book, and I want to see how she deals with them. And I'll admit it: it took me about two and a half books to get completely there, but I'm also excited because I heart Tybalt.
I'm excited about this book because Toby's story is the first fantasy novel I've read in a while that felt fresh and rich and all things yummy, and the part where it's a series is the best part of all. And I really, really want to win an ARC because I almost had a bad fansquee EEEEEEEEE!! when I first met you and I NEVER do that. And because Merry Solstice!
I am very curious to hear more about Toby/Tybalt and Toby/Connor. I am of course crossing my fingers for Tybalt. Connor seems to be a fine childhood crush but so not suited to Toby's current lifestyle.
I'd like to see more Toby Daye Real Soon Now...
I'm excited about this book because the Toby books are my favorite brand of escapism - the sheer detail of the worldbuilding astounds me every time. Also, I'm an impatient person. :)
OMFG, I so desperately want this ARC.
awesome, awesome, awesome! I've been waiting for this book since I finished Late Eclipses... which was awesome!!! I love your October Daye series... it's on my auto-buy-as-soon-as-available list. Thanks for the giveaway!

Late Eclipses left me with so many speculations for where this series is going. I can't wait to read the next one.
Hello random number generator, please pick me so that my wife will make that happy squeeing noise. :-}
