Hope you brought your water wings. There's an undertow.

Yes, it's time for the moment you've all been waiting for: the moment where I give away the first ARC of One Salt Sea, the fifth book in the October Daye series. Today seems like a good day to open the contest, being as it's the summer solstice and all. Longest day of the year means free stuff for somebody! So...

Who wants to win an ARC? About what I figured. I'll have some more effort-intensive contests in a little bit, but first up, it's our old favorite, the random drawing. To enter, please do the following:

1) Leave a comment on this entry. Leave it as a comment on the entry, please, not on someone else's comment. Comments left on other comments cannot win.

2) That's all.

Please don't comment going "pick me, pick me," if you could be so kind. I don't pick anyone. The random number generator picks the winner, and it is a cruel mistress which has never yet picked a comment containing "pick me." Instead, why not tell me why you're excited about this book? I'd really love to know.

I will choose a winner at 2PM PST on Friday, June 24th.

Game on!

ETA: Y'all, please remember that I won't answer questions posed on a random number giveaway post. It messes up my ability to cleanly locate a winner, and that just makes things frustrating for everyone.

One more ARC entry!
Did I mention that I have snake eggs incubating?
That qualifies as a comment, right? :)
Commenting. One Salt Sea sounds like my kind of book as I love mermaids. :)
Would love to win this, thanks for the chance!
[insert witty comment here.] =)

I just found the October Daye books about two weeks ago. My best friend got them when our Borders went out of business, but hadn't gotten around to reading them. I finished half of the first one in one night when I was staying over at her house. I was so into them that she just gave me the first three. Less than a week later, I went out to get the fourth. I've been sitting here twiddling my thumbs for a week now, just waiting (im)patiently for One Salt Sea to come out.
When making up a mutant squid as an RPG character I always run into problems with home many of its limbs to have as manipulators. I mean, my default answer is "all of them" but I'm usually playing some kind of point-buy where each tentacle that serves as a manipulator costs points, leaving me with a finite number of them.
I'm really looking forward to One Salt Sea. You have succeeded in unwrapping more and more of the story in ways that I could never have dreamed of in each book and after the last revelations I'm very excited to see where the next one takes us :).
I would very much like to be considered for the ARC of One Salt Sea.

I so want. Many, many compelling reasons, but only three occuring to my cold-addled brain.

1) More Tybalt. And Toby. And May.

2) *Early* Toby, which would be beyond-words cool.

3) I will be travelling in September, and so who knows when I'll be able to get my hands on one?
Yay! Random give away!

I am so looking forward to One Salt Sea.
Commenting! =)
I fall in love with Toby even more with every book, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing what she's up to now.
I want this 'cause I can't wait till it's published officially. I need to know what happens next.
I cannot wait to find out more about Toby's evolving heritage! And I need to know what happens with our dear King of Cats, of course.

*sacrifices a digital chicken to the random number generator*

The Toby books are definitely my favorite UF series!
I absolutely love this series & can't wait til One Salt Sea comes out. It'll help ease the wait of Blackout :)
Here's to random numbers.

So exciting!
I'm looking forward to it because it is, as so many others have said, more Toby! Between you and Catherynne Valente, I am so inspired to revisit the faerie-like stories I've been working on haphazardly for about a dozen years, that I can't wait for more Toby to get me more inspired! Plus, an ARC would be really, really, really cool
...I'll be getting this book but having it sooner would be completely awesome.
ARC's? I like ARC's. But I already won one at your signing a few months ago, so perhaps this is the second giveaway and not the first?
PS did you get my email?
I am really looking forward to this book!
That being said...random number generator please pick me! :D
