Hope you brought your water wings. There's an undertow.

Yes, it's time for the moment you've all been waiting for: the moment where I give away the first ARC of One Salt Sea, the fifth book in the October Daye series. Today seems like a good day to open the contest, being as it's the summer solstice and all. Longest day of the year means free stuff for somebody! So...

Who wants to win an ARC? About what I figured. I'll have some more effort-intensive contests in a little bit, but first up, it's our old favorite, the random drawing. To enter, please do the following:

1) Leave a comment on this entry. Leave it as a comment on the entry, please, not on someone else's comment. Comments left on other comments cannot win.

2) That's all.

Please don't comment going "pick me, pick me," if you could be so kind. I don't pick anyone. The random number generator picks the winner, and it is a cruel mistress which has never yet picked a comment containing "pick me." Instead, why not tell me why you're excited about this book? I'd really love to know.

I will choose a winner at 2PM PST on Friday, June 24th.

Game on!

ETA: Y'all, please remember that I won't answer questions posed on a random number giveaway post. It messes up my ability to cleanly locate a winner, and that just makes things frustrating for everyone.

Long time reader, first time poster. I just want to say that I'm so excited for One Salt Sea -- October is one of my favorite characters in literature!
Once, I entered a "guess how many conversation hearts are in this jar" contest. I won. Guess what the prize was? Some 1121 conversation hearts in a jar. To say my roommates and I were tired of them by about 1/3 of the way through the jar is an understatement. :D

And I'm excited about this book because. Oh. Where to start? I am an ocean girl, a waterbaby at heart. And I love love love the series. It hurts sometimes and hopes sometimes and makes me laugh and I lovey love love it.
I can't wait to see where things go after the events that took place in Late Eclipses. Very excited for this book to be released!
I wonder what the back story is to Sylvester and his attachment to Toby, it's something I keep reading for. You always need a little intriguing side note, kind of like the briefcase in "Pulp Fiction". And what the heck is pennyroyal? Wikipedia only tells you so much. I need to find it somewhere so I can figure out if there is a Cat Sidhe using magic around me :)
I may or may not have recommended your books to fourteen separate people today during a six hour shift. And may or may not have ordered in six different copies of Feed.

:3

This is a comment on the entry. I love October Daye books.
I love everything you've written and want to read everything you ever write. And I'm sure I've missed things you've written, so I gotta keep finding more.

That said, despite the fact I know you only through your writing and your LJ which is also your writing, I like you as a person. So I cannot wait to read One Salt Sea. Although even if I don't win I'll be so excited when it comes out :)

/man I feel like I always come off creepy, I'm not creepy, just enthusiastic
And I really want to read the next volume. So, yeah, I'd love and ARC.
It's the shortest day here (or it was yesterday, I guess), so it's even colder and darker than usual. I'm hoping for snow :)
Eee, new books by authors I love are always exciting. I just got Deadline for my birthday and mainlined it in one day.
The rest of the series has been 'Pretty Damn Good' (tm), so I'm looking forward to this one as well.
I can't wait for One Salt Sea to be released. I need more Tybalt!
Ooh, I would love to have more Toby.
Commenting!
Thanks for the giveaway.

I have enjoyed all of your books that I have read so I am sure I will enjoiy this one as well.

Please enter me.

I'm excited to see exactly what will make Toby's life more horrible this time!
Rolling the dice in search of the random numbers!

I'm very much enjoying your work, by the way. I admit to a decided preference for the Newsflesh trilogy, but your Toby Daye books are one of only three (maybe four) urban fantasy series that I am currently collecting.
OOO! More of mermaids in wheelchairs! :D I can't wait! [bounce bounce]

I'm looking forward to seeing how Toby deals with the water, and hope we get to see Connor on his element. Also I'm having trouble imagining you topping the last one, but I trust you enough to believe you will.

The dedicated fanboy in me wants to list all these excessively detailed reasons why I'm excited about One Salt Sea but really they all come down to the fact that it's more Toby. And really, isn't that reason enough? :)
