Hope you brought your water wings. There's an undertow.

Yes, it's time for the moment you've all been waiting for: the moment where I give away the first ARC of One Salt Sea, the fifth book in the October Daye series. Today seems like a good day to open the contest, being as it's the summer solstice and all. Longest day of the year means free stuff for somebody! So...

Who wants to win an ARC? About what I figured. I'll have some more effort-intensive contests in a little bit, but first up, it's our old favorite, the random drawing. To enter, please do the following:

1) Leave a comment on this entry. Leave it as a comment on the entry, please, not on someone else's comment. Comments left on other comments cannot win.

2) That's all.

Please don't comment going "pick me, pick me," if you could be so kind. I don't pick anyone. The random number generator picks the winner, and it is a cruel mistress which has never yet picked a comment containing "pick me." Instead, why not tell me why you're excited about this book? I'd really love to know.

I will choose a winner at 2PM PST on Friday, June 24th.

Game on!

ETA: Y'all, please remember that I won't answer questions posed on a random number giveaway post. It messes up my ability to cleanly locate a winner, and that just makes things frustrating for everyone.

I am so beyond excited about One Salt Sea coming out. :D I even put off reading Late Eclipses so there wouldn't be so much of a wait between them - it's a strategy that doesn't work very well in the long run, 'cause there's more books, but just. More Toby! :D
Hello. I would love to win a copy of One Salt Sea. Also, you and I have a number of very groovy friends in common but I'm slightly afraid to meet you because I'm sure I'll geek out.

... Kinda like I just did.
I have been eagerly awaiting the latest installment of the series since the sneak preview in the back of the last book, and am thrilled that it's almost here!

Thank you so much for the kind offer and contest!
I hope your Tuesday is going well.
One of the other boards I frequent is having a Summer Fete this week.

The group I belong to on the board is costumed as merfolk.
Definitely commenting! I'm really looking forward to One Salt Sea because I do love Toby and her adventures, and I very much hope to hear more about Amandine.
I love that the longest day means free stuff... :)
I'm all agoggle to find out why Toby appears to be part-fish (koi?) on the cover. Are we finally returning to the (partially) finished original storyline that started the entire series with her losing so many years as a fish? *excited bounces*
Delightful! :)
I just finished reading An Artificial Night and it was wonderful. I enjoyed all the October Daye books, so far, but An Artificial Night is currently my favorite. I feel like in each book is better than the last, so I'm excited to read One Salt Sea.
hugs and kisses and puppies and kittens and unicorns and severed heads on lances in the town square?

Wheel! Of! Fish!
I'd like to join the mad scramble for a giveaway, please and thank you very much!

Why am I excited? Because Toby is a hero that I can believe in, can undersand, and can even empathize with as she drags herself up out of the mud and staggers onward once again. I just *loved* how I felt at the end of An Artificial Night, when I had been just as obsessed and in love/pain as she had been. Oh, my heart. I was crying at times without really knowing why. It just felt right there. (*)
Why do I want to one? Well, for one it would go well with the ARC of A Local Habitation that I won on Twitter some time ago ;) For another, because I know it's the fifth book, not the fourth. For another, because I totally love the series. For another, my husband also loves the series. I had been bugging him for some time to read the series, and he didn't. Until one weekend when I was gone, and he read the first three books without telling me. Then when Late Eclipses came out, I bought it, but I was in the middle of reading another book. Once again I went away for the weekend, with the other book I was reading, and he read Late Eclipses in one sitting while I was gone, even though I told him it was my book and I had first dibs ;) We're eager for more Toby here!
This book endorses Fishy Fae.

Thus I endorse this book.

Well I endorse toby in general but fae of the aquatic variety are extra awesome fun.
Ooh, this is very exciting! A friend of mine got me into your books, and I was lucky in that my (smallish) city library system has them all. (Except Deadline, at the moment, but I am sure that will come in time!). Owning copies myself is something I am working toward!
I am so excited about One Salt Sea (especially after Late Eclipses, which I was a bad fan and didn't read until about 2 weeks ago), that I am commenting on this entry from work, sans LJ log in.
I'm interested.
I am so excited to read this book. We were talking about your books and I said I was excited for it and mokatiki was all casual in her 'Oh yeah, that's a good one' and I did not stab her, which I think is impressive.
I'd love to read ONE SALT SEA. I'm particularly wondering why the Luidaeg was so testy near the end of the last book.
Really looking forward to One Salt Sea. I got hooked on the series recently. Managed to devour all four books inside of five days. And yes, I work full time. Not much sleep was had ^_~

Books that make me lose sleep are the best kind out there.

Have an awesome longest day!

I love the Toby books! Can't wait to see how different things are in the Duchy of Saltmist. Plus, I love to see Toby has a knack for getting into serious trouble. While that's bad for her, it does make for interesting reading.
This series has become my favorite urban fantasy series. Seriously.
The wait is painful--the advantage of getting an ARC? Less wait now, longer wait til sequel. ;)

I love how the books are clearly plotted and going back and finding all the little layers makes my storybrain happy.

Um, and yes, Tybalt. I love Tybalt.
(And the Luidaeg and Quentin and May and...)
