Sometimes, I'm six.

So I'm watching as, very slowly, the news that 'OMG SEANAN SOLD THE BOOKS!' spreads through my various social circles. People friend this journal (hello, people!). People I haven't spoken to for years drop me a line to say that they're proud of me (which is totally made of awesome). My cats look deeply perplexed at all the phone calls, and demand that I feed them more to make up for the disruption to their routines (totally fair, if one happens to be a cat).

BayCon was awesome, because for the first time, I got to tell people to their faces, and see their reactions. Lots of squealing. And sometimes, I am six, because I'm watching as 'toby daye' begins to spread as an LJ Interest, and I'm just giggling like a lunatic.

(Seriously, it went from three people to nine people, and I scared the cat.)

(Now I'm just waiting for 'newsflesh' to do the same thing.)

I've created weird LJ Interests before, but this isn't a weird interest, it's a legitimate one. I mean, this is people saying they're interested in my books. Mine. The ones I write, by sitting at this keyboard and whacking on the little letters until words fall out. While the cats may be entirely unimpressed by the awesomeness of this entire situation, I am fully impressed, and I can't pretend otherwise. I'm an LJ Interest! Everybody dance!

Ya know, for the most part I try not to have LJ interests, because it annoys me that they don't have a consistent level of concept. Some are very specific details, others are broad categories.

But Seanan McGuire as an interest? That's it's very own kind of cool.

I know, right? *flail*
Aww. It's so cool!!
I am giggly. Also, six.
Not only are cats pretty, but they're also useful - for keeping your ego in check ;-)

Have a lovely day! :-)
Siamese cats: the ultimate in anti-ego ordinance. Seriously, if I tried to get egotistical, Nyssa would just sneeze on me.

(Lilly = four-year-old bluepoint Siamese classic purebreed. Nyssa = nineteen-year-old chocolate tabby Siamese out-cross.)

Right now, I'm kinda in the shellshock stage. Everything is daunting and a little mind-boggling. It's fun!
Nineteen years old - well done to Nyssa! My previous cat may not have even made it to eleven, so hopefully Nyssa is still healthy...even if she may not be entirely happy ;-)

Have a lovely day! :-)
Doing my best! I've managed to get a lot of writing done today, which has been deeply reassuring. Nyssa continues to stagger around the house like a well-padded skeleton, occasionally croaking at the other cats to get her own way.

(Nyssa doesn't meow. Nyssa quacks, or croaks, depending on her mood. Nyssa is very odd indeed.)
I had a very cool moment this past weekend as we were waiting for morning meeting at OKRF. I was chatting with Cedric from the Bedlam Bards the week before, and your name came up as we were talking about awesome filkers and songwriters on the Con circuit. He mentioned that he had heard that you were working with an agent to sell your book, so this weekend I got to be the one to share the good news that you had, in fact, sold three.

There was much rejoicing and he wished you the best, so I gladly pass on those good wishes to you.
YAY! That's awesome. I am so super-pleased that you got to tell him.

Are they still covering 'Evil Laugh'?
*squee*

I didn't know that they were! (They stick to less Sci-Fi stuff at Ren-faires, for obvious reasons, though they sneak in a few here and there.)

I'll be sure to ask for it at Conestoga in July, though!

*does a happy dance at the thought*
They were for a while. TOTAL WIN!
*wistful* I wish I could have more interests, 'cause I'd so totally add that, but...first I gotta figure out what to delete. :P
Eeek!
