Running the Red Queen's gambit like a bat out of hell.

...also, mixing my metaphors a bit, but still, I think the statement is valid. I am running as fast as I can just to stay where I am, and while it's fascinating, it's also a bit terrifying. I am trying to do ALL THE THINGS! All the things AT THE SAME TIME! Eventually, I will spontaneously combust, and that will be funny. (Also, how is it my spellcheck knows the word "necrosis," but not the word "combust"? Oh. Wait. It's my spellcheck.)

And now, for the periodic administrative stuff.

Wicked Girls T-shirts.
Deborah is continuing to contact people, collect mailing information, and provide payment information. This is because Deborah is wonderful. If you haven't heard from her, you may be in the part of the spreadsheet she hasn't processed yet, or you may need to check your spam filter, as there are people who have been contacted who have not yet replied. Once we finish going through the spreadsheet and shaking it as hard as we can for stragglers, we will need to go to print, and any unpaid orders will be canceled. We're only printing as many shirts as have been paid for. So check your spam filter today!

Events.
I have, like, ALL THE EVENTS coming up in June and July. Seriously. Next Saturday is the big Deadline release party at Borderlands. The Saturday after, I'll be at Borderlands again, this time as Seanan instead of Mira, to do a joint event with my darling Chaz in his guise as Daniel Fox. Then it's off to Minnesota for Convergence (and Izzy's ice cream), followed by appearing at SF in SF as Mira, and finally, San Diego! My annual pilgrimage to Geek Prom is upon us, and this year I get my Amy AND my Vixy AND a convention-exclusive Monster High doll. Truly, the world is my mollusk.

Anyway, check my website for event details, and remember that even if you can't make any of these events in person, Borderlands takes internet and phone orders for signed and personalized books. They're pretty awesome that way.

Deadline.
Holy cheese, it's a book. Like, on shelves. And people are buying it, and people are reading it, and people are liking it so far. Please, if you've bought it and read it and want to talk about it, stick to the Deadline open thread? I don't want people to be afraid to read comments on other posts because there might be lurking spoilers. Thank you so much, to everyone, for everything. You've been totally amazing.

Cats.
Blue. Fluffy. Pissed off over my recent absence, and demanding I make it up to them with snuggles and scritches. I am surprisingly unbothered by their demands, and have given in wholeheartedly.

X-Men: First Class.
Opens this weekend, and anyone standing between me and the ticket booth come Saturday had better be ready for some Xavier's alumni whup-ass to be aimed their way. I need my mutants. They're an important part of a balanced breakfast. Also, the reviews have been amazing so far, which means that maybe this will be a new franchise, instead of a prequel. Look, a girl can dream, okay?

Monster High.
I WANT THE NEW DOLLS ALREADY.

...and that's it for me, for the moment. What've you got?

I'm about halfway through Deadline already, and it is WONDERFUL!
Yay!

Could you please post again when Deborah is finished going through the spreadsheet?
(She says, as one of the uncontacted). That way those of us who did get their messages eaten will know to worry and Do Something About It, whereas otherwise we can avoid pestering the busy people to ask when we will be contacted if we just haven't been yet.

I have of course been keeping an eye on my spam filter as well as my inbox, but there is so much spam in the spam filter that seeing a real message is almost impossible (particularly when I was in NYC for Victoria Day weekend in which it balloons past my ability to skim easily), so I have an inherent paranoia about missed messages.

My spellcheck spells in Welsh, Latin, Anglo-Saxon and early modern Irish. And French. Writers are sent to confuse such things.
It's our JOB.

I have refrained from killing anyone recently. I consider this a rather major accomplishment. :)
I applaud you.

I'm in Japan and it's my birthday. Wish I could make the Borderlands events! I'm looking forward to snagging a copy of Deadline when I get back to the States.
Happy birthday!
I was thinking of you last night, when I came across these: zombie attack med-alert bracelets.
...dude, those are BEYOND AWESOME.

Have Deadline, reading madly, rock!
I have no particular events except for Baltimore's HonFest (the High Holy Days of beehive hairdos and John Waters) and the tiki night coming up at the local pirate bar with COSTUMES!
I too, am anxiously waiting Monster High because MOAR GHOULIA (in addition to all the other marvels). Plus,I am getting shanghied into learning to spin on a craft night next week:)
I am very excited about SDCC Exclusive Ghoulia.
I've just returned from the most lovely week in NC (my true home) where my BFF married the second greatest guy in the world (mine is the best), my kids were freaking adorable in the wedding--lollipops and al--and I got to see my brother and his kids. Also I went from 96 degrees there to 58 degrees here and it confused my body.

My big girl is going to kindergarten in the fall, the baby is turning 2 in 2 weeks and Surprise! we are now telling people that, whoopsie! the technology that is supposed to be failsafe, isn't and we will be joined by a third rugrat in November.

And I realized the giant box that I thought was a bday present from my hubby that I didn't open immediately when I got home Wednesday contain Deadline and the new Ilona Andrews so I'm desperately waiting for my lunch hour to start so I can start!

Surprise! Yay baby!

Congratulations.
I finally got your book! Sadly, I have a research group meeting and then a talk with my adviser about post PhD jobs and recommendations, so I am stalled in reading until I finish those. (And I do need to work on postdoc proposals before I read...)
I fully understand.

For those of you who are too lazy to look for it, the Deadline open thread is here: http://seanan-mcguire.livejournal.com/358856.html - this is the place where we talk about how surprised we are that Seanan managed to fit zombie unicorns that fart rainbows into the book, and make it work. (Maybe. You'll just have to buy a copy to find out if I'm telling the truth or not.)
Heh.

Ramen. Cheap, delicious ramen lunches at half off because its their anniversary of awesomeness this weekend. You should come. Oh, but you're at Borderlands (and likely with some Cups Cakes goodness to boot).

Sheeyit. I got nothing in the face of that.

Welp. I can offer free passes to the San Diego Zoos if you make Geek Prom with time leftover. That's plural - so you can bring folks. (Vixy? Want firecats?) Yes, I just renewed the yearly passes - that's one of the perks. (Try asking Disney to do that when you buy an annual pass.)

I still do not see any Los Angeles on your schedule and it amuses me greatly. You and my mother seem to share an opinion on the place. (Seriously. We could go *anywhere* else in the state, including Sacramento, Stockton and Grass Valley. Live in Hemet and visit Los Angeles? NO.)
There will be noooooooooo time leftover. Sorry. :(
Deadline:
This people bought it, after some searching at Powell's in Beaverton.

Copy 1 of their early order sold on the 31st.
2 and 3 were MIA: they found #2 in the back, and on my way to another shelf (M.K. Hobson's new book) I found Deadline under "C" and not "G", I reshelved it in the right place and maybe did a bit of creative reshelving to make sure it was face out.

Was ensaddened that Feed was not on hand.

Up to about page 200, will probably finish tonight.

Yay!

I have this thing! It's stamped GERMANY USSR OCCUPIED (meaning Soviet occupation zone, 1945 to mid-1949) and is some sort of Cajun accordion! Only not quite because the stops are wrong. Anybody know wtf, exactly? It works!

(And finally as of last night we have our copy of Deadline, too! Should be able to read this weekend, looking forward!)
What is it?

It's AWESOME, that's what.

Hooray!
School is nearly officially over, with only Finals Week remaining. I'm feeling pretty decent about my classes, but I won't know for sure until two weeks from this coming Monday.

I am sad, as I will be missing the Deadline party (family obligations) and very, very much want to continue to support the author. (Yes, I bought a book on Release Day, but I'd buy another if it meant keeping you in home and cat food.)

And have finished the book. Now, the wait....
We will miss you, too.
I have unfortunately not yet started reading Deadline, as I continue to await Amazon's delivering it.

Consuming mutants for breakfast seems more like a Mira Grant activity than a Seanan McGuire activity.
Mmmmm, mutants.
"Thank you so much, to everyone, for everything. You've been totally amazing."

You get what you give.
Aw.

Thank you.
Bought Deadline Thursday and will start reading it today! *bounce* *bounce*
Yay!
I'm excited for X-men: First Class!!

What's new with me? I'm currently in NJ, and got to see the ocean for the first time last night! AWESOME!!! Totally made the 11 hours in a car yesterday worth it! :D
The ocean is pretty damn impressive.
Just thought I should let you know two things:

1) X-Men: First Class is totally awesome. However, I never read the actual comics so I don't know how it scores up with the cannon, and maybe that's a plus? I think so. I'm guess you have read them, so who knows. I still think it was epic. I hope you think so too.

2) No need to stay through the end of the credits. There is very disappointingly nothing there. Sadness.
I found the treatment of female mutants/mutants of color to be problematic, but on the whole, I liked the movie a lot.
