DEADLINE open thread. Have a party.

To celebrate the release of Deadline [Amazon]|[Mysterious Galaxy], here. Have an open thread to discuss the book.

THERE WILL BE SPOILERS.

Seriously. If anyone comments here at all, THERE WILL BE SPOILERS. So please don't read and then yell at me because you encountered spoilers. You were warned.

You can also start a book discussion at my website forums, with less need to be concerned that I will see everything you say! In case you wanted, you know, discussion free of authorial influence. I will probably answer a great many comments. I may not answer all of them.

Have fun!

And it has what I consider to be the best review of "Bambi" EVER.
That was awesome.

You know what I am still wondering about? The entertainment industry. Has anybody made a movie or fictional TV show since the Rising? I'm kind of willing to bet that those industries are utterly dead under the circumstances and that's why everybody is watching Bruce Campbell instead of anything new that isn't news or fiction writing.
Hm... I don't think so. While they were in Abbey's lab, Maggie mentioned the difference between pre- and post- rising movies. She didn't specifically mention fictional movies and TV shows, though.

I would think that it's still an extant industry, but vastly curtailed both by the Rising and by the increase of blogging as a means of journalism and entertainment.
They still exist; they're just very different. But pre-Rising entertainment has an innocence that people are very nostalgic for.
