DEADLINE open thread. Have a party.

To celebrate the release of Deadline [Amazon]|[Mysterious Galaxy], here. Have an open thread to discuss the book.

Just one question: When Shaun is talking about the year he and George were born, and then the year she died (when he shot her after she amplified), the math in my head kept slipping. In Feed, were they really only 15? Or am I reading dates wrong? How old are they in Deadline? And weren't their ages mentioned in Feed? I think it's because I keep seeing years like 2041 and all that... My memory is awful right now...

I just sent an email about this- 2032, 2041... it is driving me crazy waiting for clarification. Glad I am not the only one who this stood out to, as I felt like I was missing something. I often do. :)

Apparently, the 2032 was a typo left over from when the series was going to be set earlier. Now we know! Georgia died in 2040. She and Shaun were born in 2017. That would mean they were 23 when she amplified and died.

2040 is the year she died. :)

I'll bet that is frustrating. A year to write it-20 or more people looking it over, checking for typos, consistentcy, feasability, and with in 5 minutes of release, 12 people are going "Ooh, ooh, Mr Kotter, Mr Kotter!"

But I read in Deadline that they put her death year at 2032! I'm confused now!

Originally Feed was set in 2032, but at some point the decision was made to push the events 8 years forward, giving George and Shaun no pre-Rising experience. The 2032 year of death in Deadline got missed, alas.

Yesterday's post has a Word From The Front Office. Typo. (These things happen.)
It's not like she changed the name of a minor character like another author did.
Think of it as the one flaw, left there so the virus doesn't hide inside, and Mutate! ;)

Ah, typo! I didn't even realize; I must have missed it in yesterday's post. And now I remember that settings and timelines were changed around. So now I feel silly. But I also feel better for the knowledge. :)
