T-minus 0 days to DEADLINE.

August 1st, 2014.

Kellis-Amberlee unified the world in a way that nothing had ever unified it before, or ever would again. Cities burned. Nations died. Tokyo, Manhattan, Bombay, London, all of them fell before an enemy that could not be stopped, because it came from within; because it was already inside. Some escaped. Some lived. All carried the infection deep inside their bodies, deep inside their very bones. They carried it with them, and it lived, too.

The Rising was finally, fully underway. Mothers mourned their children. Orphans wailed alone in the night. Death ruled over all, horrible and undying. And nothing, it seemed, would ever make it end.

RISE UP WHILE YOU CAN.

Oh I need this as an e-book like now .... awesome Seanan and Happy Book Launch Day!
I told Diesel to order it last week; I hope they got it in today, or I may not be able to pick it up for a few days.
Thanks for all the count down stories!
Happy Book Launch Day! I'm picking mine up at lunch.
Happy Launch Day! I spent too much money this week so I have to wait until Friday. Hopefully by then Borders will finally be selling the ebook. But I WILL buy this week!

I finished Bordertown days ago knowing Deadline was coming.
The only reason that isn't the scariest, most horrible ending to anything ever is because we know it does end--or at least, stabilizes enough for life to start happening again, albeit a very different kind of life.

I loved Countdown, it made me so much more excited about DEADLINE and also gave me a way to channel my "I'm waiting for this awesome thing to happen!" energy. It was a total highpoint of my day, every day, for the last month. Thanks so much for giving us this glimpse into the Newsflesh world--I loved it, and I'm so happy I got to read it.

Now I just have to finish out my workday (difficult! Brain is fixated on zombies!), and go pick up DEADLINE on my way home!
Thanks for such an amazing fan-gift. This has been an awesome series of vignettes.

Question: if I collect and print this out as an extra to stick in my book (and mine alone), should I include the "when will you rise?" question after every scene or is that just a tagline for the count-down? Basically: artistic/formatting importance of that last line.
If you were to do this thing, you could leave off the tags. They're not part of the narrative.

Happy release day! I held out and bought a copy this morning. Now it's burning a hole in my attention span.
Can't wait till tomorrow when Amazon will deliver mine onto my Kindle!
DITTO!!!!!!!
Happy Bookday. And thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for all your work.
You know, I take issue with London falling. Sure, *most* of it will fall, but Hackney will always hold out. It's where the guns are ...

Loved these cookies and looking forward to the book.

And so it...begins? Ends? I'm not sure.

Thank you for the best advent calendar ever. It was absolutely agonizing, in the most wonderful way.
I am going to wait until Thursday to get it (it doesn't come out until tomorrow up here in Canada and my birthday is Thursday) but I'm really excited! This Countdown has been amazing.
Happy Bookday!
My book is on its way...and a friend may bring me a 2nd copy in case it does not get here tonight. Cause that would suck and I JUST CAN'T WAIT ANY LONGER.

Thank you for this wonderful series. This story has gotten inside me, made me weep, care, and want to rise up. I think it is very much needed in the world.

Copy from Barnes and Noble in Dunwoody, GA secured :)
Re: pps. 132-133

I feel certain that a University of Georgia alum was involved.
I think this is the only time at which 'WOOHOO!' will ever be an appropriate response to the news of a zombie uprising.
Haha, totally seconded.

ahh, the miseries of books lagging in being sold in Asia...
But this would be a great setting for All Flesh Must Be Eaten, a table top RPG.
Happy DEADLINE DAY!
Is it wrong that I was hoping for snippet of Stacey having to shoot Phillip today?

...I LIKE backstory. Backstory is pretty.

Hurrah, Deadline! \o/
Same here, I expected that to be the last one. Maybe we will see that in one of the books.

I have Deadline. Sleep tonight may not be happening,
The NYC Penn Station Borders lacks Deadline. I'd ask you to send in the zombie armies, but

1. The guy who tried to find it was very nice and very apologetic
2. Borders is already doing almost as much damage to itself as the zombies could.

I am fairly confident I will find a copy in NYC.
Borders Corporate HQ is absolutely safe from a zombie uprising. There are no brains there to eat.

I am loving the backstory. I just finished re-listening to FEED and going through some of the vignettes I missed. After this weekend, I'll try to either get the audio book or the physical one because hopefully by then, I'll have money. :)
I need a zombie army to come kick butt at my local bookstore. Apparently Deadline is coming out tomorrow instead of today which makes no sense since new book releases are typically on Tuesday. Though I do agree that brains may hard to come by.
I gots it...and Feed, too, b'c ladydrakaina stood next to me at Powell's and said I had to do so, so I did. By the way, Powell's (big downtown Portland main store) had Deadline nicely displayed in at least three (3) different spots - 2 rows of full cover facing out in regular alpha spot in horror, 2 rows of full cover facing out under New Release endcap (still in Golden Room), and yet another row of full covers displayed on yet another New Genre endcap. So if'n folks cannot find it, they just ain't looking!

Now to finish up TP's Lords & Ladies so I can sit down and FEED properly w/no distractions (other than VooDoo donuts & hot tea, which're really accoutrements to good reading rather than distractions from same ;-)
Yay Powells! If I still lived in Portland I absolutely would have gotten my copy there. As it is, I did at least pick up DEADLINE - had to request it because it wasn't on the shelf yet, but they *did* have it in the back - and FEED, because I'd read a library copy of the latter so wanted to have My Very Own. :-)

Happy Launch Day!
These have been absolutely amazing to read. Heartbreaking and amazing. Thank you so much for posting these!

And, of course, Happy Launch Day!! I can't wait to get my Nook copy tomorrow!
