T-minus 4 days to DEADLINE.

Reston, Virginia. July 30th, 2014.

It had taken six of the Valium pills John kept hidden at the back of the medicine cabinet, but Alexander Kellis was finally ready. He checked the knot on his rope one more time. It was good; it would hold. Maybe it wasn't elegant, but he didn't deserve elegant, did he? He destroyed the world. Children would curse his name for generations, assuming there were any generations yet to come. John was gone, forever. It was over.

"I'll see you soon, sweetheart," he whispered, and stepped off the edge of his desk. No one would find his body for weeks. If he reanimated, he starved without harming anyone. Alexander Kellis never harmed anyone.

Not on purpose.

OH ALEX. ;_;
So very sad. Off to go cry now.
ALL THE HUGS, still. Poor man.
FYI, every Samhain I light candles in memory of certain people from books who deserved a better deal than they got, who make me ache because of the hand they had to play.

Alexander Kellis just got added to the list.

That's a very cool idea! Btw, lovely icon. What's it from? Is it a picture or a painting or ???
I agree. I may have to do that.
i cropped it down from an image i saved from somewhere on the internets. so i'm violating someone's copyright *gloomy*
hngaaaa
I suppose I should wipe my tears and go get ready for my day.

Thank you, Seanan! These are wonderful and I can't wait for the book to come!
How much does The Newsflesh Verse make me think?

After I recovered from the BAWWWWW POOR ALEXANDER WHY WHYYYYY, I began to think about his death.

I wondered why Alexander didn't shoot himself in the head to make sure he didn't reanimate?

My first thought was that gay men don't always follow the cultural picture of what is "manly", and he wasn't doing it to prove anything to anybody. He'd already told off Brandon the boob.

But then it occurred to me that maybe he didn't shoot himself in the head because he left himself to science in his suicide note, so that when anyone found him, they'd just be able to wrap up his weak, starving zombie self, tuck it in a truck, and ship it off to some lab somewhere to help find a cure.

Poor Doctor Kellis. :(
As I was listening to Feed again today, something made me think,"What about abortion in the Newsflesh Verse? What happens to the fetus? Yes, I sometimes have weird thoughts.
I'd think that would be pretty sadly safe - believe you have to be at least 50 pounds to amplify, otherwise you don't have the mass for it? Sorry, I don't have Feed handy to check but I believe it was stated somewhere.
That then makes me wonder, what happens to the foetus if a pregnant woman amplifies? Does it stop developing/miscarry if the virus reroutes her systems (and babies presumably aren't its priority)? At what point does it count as a separate organism for amplification purposes? If it does somehow carry on developing, do you get zombie women going into labour with human babies?

...this is a rather disturbing train of thought.
...yes, yes it is.
I'd think the virus would turn on the fetus as a competing infection
Poor Dr. Kellis. :-(
