Stll sick, still SMACKING DOWN.

Hey-ho! Let's go!

So Toby has managed to rise to the semi-finals, battling strangers and friends alike in her fight for survival. Now An Artificial Night is up against N.K. Jemisin's Hundred Thousand Kingdoms for the right to proceed to the finals and maybe...just maybe...walk away alive.

You know what you have to do.

The tournament semi-finals are here, and are open now for voting.

Shop smart; shop S-Mart. Vote fae; vote Toby Daye.

And now, my horrible horrible cold and I are going back to bed.

I wonder if anyone here got the “S Mart” reference. How quickly the contents of our brains become Trivial Pursuit© fodder.

I think anyone who's been around for a little while got it. :)

Yah, you never know what will hit.

Some while back, a lady friend of mind was grousing that her computer, which was excessively preoccupied with Norton anti-monkey-business matters, “only does what it wants to do, not what I want.”

And I said - with the central quote in Cockney - “… Sometimes I imagine I can still hear him: "'Ere I am, J H…" - the ghost in the machine.”

And she said, “Oo-oohh…” I'd yanked up a deep memory.

[I don't know if you remember that movie, but that was such a scene as happened when Terry Gilliam was firing on all cylinders. Sam Lowry's boss reminisces to him about his father, and not only says the above but writes it out in spilled powder - then blows it away. This was information. Sure enough, towards the climax of the movie Sam is evading guards, finds and ducks into a private elevator - but the door doesn't close and instead of buttons, he's confronted by this alphanumeric keypad. In moments the guards will be upon him… and it comes back to him in a flash. He punches it out: EREIAMJH - and the door closes, and the elevator goes up. The kicker, that did not make it into the screenplay but which really spins it: His father's name was Jeremiah.]
