So, uh, welcome. And stuff.

LJ appears to be vaguely stable again, which is a nice change. I missed you, LJ! I know that blogging is dead, and it's the age of Farmville or the Tweet or whatever, and I'm on Facebook (technically) and Twitter (avidly), but my heart's true home is here, in Blogland, where I can write full sentences and punctuate them properly without worrying about the number of commas I use. I LOVE YOU, OXFORD COMMA.

Ahem. Anyway...

We're in a vague lull right now, which is nice, since it's letting me catch up on my word counts. I knocked out 2,000 words of Blackout last night, and then turned around and wrote almost as much on "Crystal Halloway, Girl Wonder, and the Truth Fairy's Curse," which sounds like a fluffy cross between Nancy Drew and every Harry Potter knock-off ever, but is, no shit, the most depressingly nihilistic thing I've written in years. Possibly ever. I made a giant spider cry. I have no regrets.

I do have a book event at the Borders in Roseville, California scheduled for next Saturday, and if you're local, it would be awesome if you could drop by. Borders events are much more low-key than the Traveling Circus, and sometimes it winds up just me, sitting at my little "in-store author" table, working on art cards and pretending that I'm not lonely. Help me not be lonely!

Speaking of being lonely, there's been, like, a hugenormous influx of people recently, and I honestly can't tell why. There was a little bump last week, when I posted about my decision to withdraw from Wicked Pretty Things, but since then, it's just been like, WHOA HOLY CRAP I DON'T HAVE THIS MANY PLATES. So if you're new here, hello! Welcome! Can you please tell me who you are and how you got here? I'm totally thrilled to have you, I just like to have some vague idea of what's going on. (Yeah, right. Like that's ever going to happen.)

In other news, water is wet, zombies are love, Jean Grey is still dead, and Thomas is rapidly approaching an improbable size.

What's new with you?

I was a lurker but was taken with your cat and book pics, so I lurked no more. I bought Rosemary & Rue the week it was out and became very taken with your creation. You are on my buy as soon as it comes out list. Recently I found you here and on twitter and tagged along.

I'm an animation professor at a midwestern college. I do illustrations in my spare time.
That's fantastic! Also your kitty is beautiful. ALL THE FLUFF.
I'm the youngest of Tanya and Fe's 'kids,' which is how I got here. They turned me onto Feed, which I loved, even though I'm not usually a zombie kinda girl. I've been lurking for a while, and will probably disappear back to the shadows. Just wanted to say hi!
Yay! Hi!

Also welcome and stuff.
The current new thing: the light in my oven is replaced after four mostly non-baking months. I celebrated with a batch of cookies. They came out 2/3 oatmeal-chocolate chip, and 1/3 oatmeal-chocolate chip-bacon.

Friday's plan involves seeing if the LJ office wants to accept delivery of a few cookies, because they are doing heroic work with not much love right now.
Your plans are delicious.
I don't know that blogging is dead. I think there's a shift going on, as the teeming masses have moved to twitter and facebook, while blogs seem to be retaining people who are using blogs for more involved and professional purposes. In fact, while personal blogs seem to be on the decline (I use "seem to be" guardedly here; I lack numbers), professional blogs are becoming much more accepted and I think are increasing.
True.
Also, since this post, I've been getting called on to start posting more on LJ. Go figure.

I had http://seananmcguire.com/shr.php sitting in a tab probably since Yuletide
once I read those stories I wanted to remember to read more by you
so I friend your journal
Well, thank you.

We are very glad to have you here.
Howdy, and since you asked...

I was linked to your journal over the "Wicked Pretty Things" kerfluffle, but added you as a "friend" because I used to chat with you at various conventions (often in Prog Ops rooms) years ago as you were working on your novels, and found you to be a witty and interesting person. I was also involved in San Diego SMOFing for a while, and I believe we chatted with you from time to time about Conjecture. I was thrilled to see your name appear on a novel at my local bookstore when Rosemary & Rue came out, only to find out recently how much you've already gotten published. Awesome and congrats!
Well, welcome. :)
Have fun at the Roseville signing! I wish we could make it, but we're performing at UC Davis' Picnic Day celebrations smack in the middle of your signing, and haven't yet learned how to teleport. :)
Sad! You will be missed.
I've been around for a little bit, following via google reader.

But I was a twitter follower long before that. Never properly said hello here before. Whatever has brought more people here GOOD. Because I like your books and whatever works to make their be more readers is good by me.
Thank you, very much. :)

And I'm with you on wanting more readers.
Heyla, new here. Found this blog when trying to get an exact release date for Deadline (FEED is one of the best books I've read, um, ever, and I was all flaily when I found out I'd have to wait a year for the next one, but it's coming out soon and I am still all flaily!), and you are a very entertaining blogger, so here I am. I will read Rosemary and Rue when I come up on the waiting list at my library (my copy of Feed has pride-of-place on my bookshelves, though).
Welcome!
i have you as a friend on facebook, and we have mutual friends. and honestly i dont keep up on my flist mch so i didnt figure it mattered if i friended you here.

after reading a friends comment about wicked pretty things, i figured i could at least show my support by friending you..
(just, seriously, back in college and dealing with stuff. my flist is so far bankrupt)
Aw. Thank you for the gesture of support.
