Thursday morning, yellow sky: bits and pieces.

Hello, world! It's the Thursday before Wondercon, and I'm trying to take care of all the little rags and tags of reality that build up over the course of a week like cat hair on velvet pants. So anyway...

1. The fight is still raging in the BSC Review tournament! This round closes Sunday morning, at which point, eight books will be reduced to four, and those four will duke it out for the right to do to the bracket semi-finals. Cat and I both still have horses in this race, so please, help keep Toby swinging!

2. Speaking of Cat, her new book, Deathless, came out this week. Hooray for book release! There's a lot of neat free stuff to have and enjoy and be amazed by; my darling talkstowolves has made a big post collecting it all into one place. I even drew a Pretty Little Dead Ghoul for the occasion. Feel the love!

3. My new phone is lovely, and allows me to do exciting things like "take pictures of my cats" and "access Twitter from the train." It also allows me to answer email when I'm not at home, which is going to be a huge, huge relief as time goes on. It's already taken some of the weight off, since I've been able to respond to things while in transit.

4. Thomas and Alice have started working against me. Thomas jumped onto the back of my knees at four o'clock this morning, jarring me INSTANTLY AWAKE, at which point Alice began pushing their ceramic food dishes back and forth in the feeding tray. Scrape. Scrape. Scraaaaaape. So yes, I got up, and I fed the cats. I am so doomed.

5. The full-length trailer for the new season of Doctor Who has been released, and is so intensely awesome as to cause me to sit, weak-kneed and gaping at my monitor, for several minutes before hitting "play" again. I remain overjoyed and giggly over the fact that this show, my show, is back.

6. Also, there's a new My Little Pony cartoon that doesn't suck. I clearly control the universe. You can place your requests with Kate, who will only allow me to fulfill the ones that don't involve diseases or amphibians.

7. I'm getting ready to do a massive post office run, so I am once again taking orders for "Wicked Girls" posters. According to my files, if it's been paid for, it's been sent out; please email me if you don't have yours. Comment either here or on the original post if you'd like to request a poster, and we'll coordinate.

8. I will be mostly offline this weekend, as I will be attending Wondercon. I'll have my awesome new phone with me, but let's face it, when given a choice between answering email and staring raptly at James Gunn, James Gunn wins without a contest. I'll definitely Tweet my location at various points throughout the weekend, and if you find me, you could win a prize. Or not. I may be out of prizes.

9. Zombies are still love.

10. I get to see Amy this weekend (Mebberson, not McNally)! And Kaja! And Phil! And there will be cupcakes, and hugging, and artwork, and Mom will probably wear her chicken hat, and I'm so excited!!!!!

Yay! It seems that she is allowing requests for venomous snakes and velociraptors! And probably the Mutant Star Goat. The End Of The World Is Nigh!

As much as I love Cat's writing I'm hoping the BSC Westerous Bracket is a slug out between You and Mary Robinette Kowal

Well I've got these awesome trips to California I'm looking forward to... :D

And I got new shoes! (For the Hugos!) And I am almost ready for my new tattoo! And it's warming up to almost 60F here!

The awesome:
I am writing again, which ranks pretty high on the Awesometer in my opinion.

I'm enjoying the new GI JOE:Renegades, which is a better version of the A-Team than the movie, or the original in my opinion.
Transformers Prime is pretty good too. It manages to capture a "this is so cool! I'm a kid who's friends with a giant transforming robot vibe!" and at the same time capture the "Oh GOD! I'm small and squishy and the enemy is trying to kill me!" vibe with the kids on the show. Also, it has Jeffrey Combs and Clancey Brown, which is made of WIN.

Apparently, there's something in the water that people who are doing reboots are drinking, that's not filling them full fail. We need to isolate this compound and start sharing it with the movie producers for Akira and Judge Dread.

What's new and awesome in the world of you?

My latest play just finished a run that was a massive success, both creatively and in ticket sales.

Upcoming: Sharon and I are taking our son, daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters to Disney World.

So, yeah, life is awesome right now. :)

my son moved out last thursday, and by way of the universe, my body has been detoxing hard. i've been sick. i've been in and out of bed. i've been miserable. i'm tired. and today i've been trying to turn what was his room back into what used to be my office. he left it a wreck - to the tune of that i'm just thinking about tossing out the bed and buying a new one if i can find the money, going to need to get the carpet cleaned, and am going to have to borrow the touch-up paint from the office ... but the pay off? hell yeah!

Hey, while you're re-ordering the Universe, can ya make my spousebeat's and my schedules more compatible? This seeing each other 10 minutes a day thing is getting old. :(

As for me, I had my first massage yesterday by someone who wasn't a partner or my gay best friend and...wow. I know a guy who is getting free extra iced mocha lattes for the rest of his natural life! And I got my first professional haircut in about three years.

The benefits of having a good number of one's regulars be students or instructors at Aveda. Freebies are a beautiful thing.

Ooh, what phone did you get? My first smartphone is a Palm Pixi Plus, which is tiny and me-sized, but I can't wait to get an HTC Aria Android phone, which is also tiny and me-sized.

I've had the Pixi since last October and I still gape at everything it can do. I can only imagine what an Android phone does.

My head cold has is making me not have asthma. I really don't understand why having a head cold keeps my lungs from seizing up when I go past smokers, but I am digging it.

So, while ill, am enjoying the heck of being able to be around smokers/perfume wearers/smog. (all of which tend to be around me despite my attempts to avoid them.)

Zachias never wakes me with demands to be fed, or any demands at all. He simply opens his eyes at 5:30 AM (precisely) and feels Itchy. So I open my eyes at 5:31 AM (precisely) to the sound of loud scratching and a mental tune of "I'm so itchy...itchy, itchy, itchy!" This is followed by his early morning bath, accompanied by snorts and snorfles and chomps.

At this point, he is firmly escorted out of the bedroom, and he bounds downstairs to the Other Human who will give him Tasty Food.

I won the fight this week against my three terror-inducing fur balls by buying all three of them 'automatic dishes.'

They look like roombas bred with UFOs and have given being to their baby, which holds six doses of food and a programmable lid to release food at 6/12/24 marks, depending on when you set it. I am so so happy.

Trouble is, Thomas would hip-check Lilly and eat all her food. Lilly is insufficiently pushy.
